Enjoyable but...

I really enjoyed the tour, but I think some of the stops could have been a bit more interesting. The tour guide was nice and had alot of information. The area was also nice. I was just hoping for more somehow. Left the tour fine but not wow'd.

The tour lasted 2.5 hours and the time passed extremely quickly. The food stops included pancakes, tea, spices, oils, chocolate (x2) and pizza. The tour quide was entertaining and gave deatils of the local area and architeture, as well as the food stops. Would recommend it.

Pleasant way to experience lesser known eateries.

We enjoyed it! We did think it would have been better to have small pieces of bread to use in tasting at Old Town Oil.

VERY NICE TOUR

Our group ranged in age from 28 to 51 and were all women from northwest Indiana. We all enjoyed the tour. We were afraid we would be hungry during the tour so we ate beforehand. We could have gone without the meal prior to the tour as there was plenty of food along the way for us. Was amazed at the homes shown during the tour. Have been many times to Chicago but this was certainly a different side we had never experienced. The guide was knowledgable and fun.

It was great for a first timers visit to Chicago. The tour had internationals, locals, and just regular visitors. Everyone had a really good time and I was lead to areas of Chicago that I otherwise would have never seen for a 'first visit'. Loved it and will recommend it to others. I would recommend to the tour people to put some place on there about hot dogs. Just a thought...

Very satisified

I liked that the website description matched what we got - food samples, seeing the neighborhood, and learning about everything along the way. Rather than going straight back to where we parked afterwards, we retraced our path and made several purchases. Thanks again, it was one of the highlights of our vacation.

An amazing feast for the senses!

I took the food tour on a Saturday afternoon with my boyfriend. We loved the experience! Our tour guide was extremely funny and knowledgeable about the architecture, food, and everything else you could possibly want to know about Chicago. The tastings we stopped at featured some wonderful stores that I would never have been able fit in in one weekend if I did not take the tour. Pretty much all of the stores have internet sites you can order from if you cannot stop back afterwards. Unfortuately, you cannot shop during the tour, which is understandable, but I never got a chance to go back to some of the stores I really liked. All of the tastings were phenomenal and the architecture information was so interesting. The walk also lead us through some of the main attractions of the city. My boyfriend and I thought we got such a good value for the cost of the tickets. We saw so much in such a short period of time. So worth it! I will recommend it to all. Remember to wear something comfortable to walk in though- you will be doing alot of it. But whatever you do, do not miss this tour!

Great Tour but want more food

Loved the chance to walk through some of the Chicago neighborhoods. Shane was very informed and obviously into his job on explaining Chicago to the group. My one area for improvement would be to beef up the food offerings. I did a similar tour in Greenwich Village a few years ago and we had samples of pizza, a gyro, part of a deli sandwich, pastries (cannoli). The food we had on the Chicago tour was good, but it would have been nice to have a little more. That said, loved the oil/vinegar place and the the two shops where we had chocolate. I would recommend the tour to friends going to Chicago.

My mom came into town and my sister and I took her on this tour. It was fantastic. Great tour guides. The tour was organized, efficient, informative and I learned a lot and experienced new places even though I've lived here for 13 years. I would go on it again and I wish they would expand to other neighborhoods - Wicker Park, Bucktown, Uptown including Argyle Street, Chinatown, Pilsen, etc.

We've lived in Chicago for about a year, but haven't spent much time exploring other neighborhoods. We really enjoyed having a guide take us through and give us tid-bits about the neighborhoods we walked through, and enjoyed tasting some of Chicago's best- we'll be heading back to several of the spots on the tour that weren't on our radar.

It was a great experience! I would recommend it to others. our guide was great and friendly. It was educational and fun to visit and learn all about the places we stopped at. We all know pizza and chocolate are great but who knew olive oil could be so delicious!!! It was a wonderful surprise! I didnt like the potato pancake at all though. it felt a little rushed sometimes though, especially at the pizza place because we actually had to sit and eat there. it would have been ok if a little extra time had been scheduled for that point in the day. the eating and rushing thing gave me a stomach ache at the end of the day. Overall it was really great though.

My only tiny criticism is that we made 2 stops at chocolate shops. I liked the one in Old Town better than the other. Instead of chocolate again, try a pastry shoppe and or bakery for a little dessert. The Spice Merchant one my personal favorite. I wished that more time was also allowed for shopping there.

My friends and I met in Chicago for a weekend and we went on the food tour. Our guide Kate was great. Very informative, spoke to everyone in the group, and fun! The places we stopped were great. I learned about tea. Loved the oil shop and spice shop. We actually went back after the tour and purchased several items. It is really 2 tours in one. Learned about the architecture and the foods of the city. We would recommend it highly. Be prepared to walk. Finished up the tour with chocolate. YUMM!!!!
