We recently went on a 3 hour walking food tasting tour around 3 neighborhoods in downtown Chicago and I just have to say that it was the highlight of my short stay. Our tour guide Jessie, was sensational! What a great personality along with wittiness and knowledge of the city! She spoke very clearly and had such charm. I learned so much about Chicago, which I might add, was unexpected seeing that we were on a food tasting tour. The food was fabulous and I tried things I would have never tried. From the reuben's to the chocolate to the famous Chicago pizza, it was simply delicious! |

You will want to make sure you have your walking shoes on. This tour was slightly over three hours, and pace, while not hurried, was brisk in moving from location to location. The walk is a little over a mile, and you will be on your feet for most of the three hours.
We are from a town just 80 miles away from Chicago and go a few times a year for shows, dining and sights. We never took a walking tour before, and selected this one based on description and reviews. We wandered from the Gold Coast, through Old Town to Lincoln Park. Our guide, Jen, was knowledgeable, personable, and made sure she gave personal attention everyone in our thirteen person group. The focus of the tour is to visit locally owned and run specialty shops that all have a common denominator in food. You will sample local deli fare, visit a spice shop, taste some of the most amazing olive oils and balsamic vinegars, savor some local chocolate, keep hydrated with iced specialty teas, taste your way through the cheese shop, and then sit down for a marvelous slice of Chicago stuffed pizza.
While you don't eat or drink a ton the samples are generous, are are designed to give you a real taste, while leaving you plenty of room for the next stop. Along the route, you will see and learn about the neighborhoods and their distinctive character and history along with their architectural diversity.
I think I would call this more a neighborhood tour than a food tour. The focus is food overall, but you end up with a very good sample of those things that really make a neighborhood distinctive, the food, the history and the architecture. You feel like you have been given a good enough look to know your way around and will want to come back another time and spend another day exploring on your own. |

The food tour is definitely well worth the price. No only do you get a chance to taste great food, but a cultural tour is included! |

After my daughter's recommendation, my group (4) of friends decided to take this tour. We were not disappointed. From the reuben sandwich to the deep dish Chicago pizza we were entertained and educated. The portions are plentiful so do not eat before hand. Even though we were a group of ladies, I know my male friends would have loved this tour also. The architectural history alone was educational and informative. My daughter said it was the highlite of her weekend and now that our extended Windy City vacation is over, I can honestly say it ranks right up there with Oprah! Thank you Nikki (our guide) for creating a memory! |

The food tasting and cultural walking tour far exceeded our expectations. From our tour guide to each stop along the way our experience was great. We saw parts of the city that we otherwise would not have; we visited tasting locations that were so amazing that at the end of the tour we walked back to our hotel so that we could revisit some of the locations to make purchases. OUTSTANDING.... |

I thoroughly enjoyed the Food Tour. The weather was gorgeous and that added to the tour's appeal, especially as we walked everywhere. I loved the areas we went through and the places we stopped at, which were nice and varied. I also enjoyed the fact that we were a group of only 6 plus our leader Nikki. It made for a very relaxed atmosphere. A group of 16 (the maximum number allowed) would probably be a little less personal and more rushed. Nikki was a great person - friendly, fun, interesting and enthusiastic. I particularly loved the two chocolate places we visited. I would have liked to stop and buy some of the amazing chocolate products at The Fudge Shop but we didn't have time. I made up for that at Ethel's Chocolate Lounge though. The tour is well organised, and all the necessary information is provided on booking and in the subsequent email you receive. If you get a chance to do the Food Tour, you should! |

Great way to get an overview of Chicago neighborhoods, while getting to try good and interesting food as well. You get to see and try food and places you wouldn't stumble across. Heed their advice on comfortable shoes/clothes: we went a long way. |

Heather, our enthusatic and knowledgeable guide, took us out for a stroll on a nice warm spring day (90*). We got a nice tour of the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhoods and had a chance to taste some very nice treats. We also learned a little history of the area and were able to see some of the different architectural styles in the area. This is a nice way to discover other parts of Chicago besides the downtown area. This tour is highly recommended and if you can, try to have Heather as your guide. She was awesome....here's to you Mom!! |

My wife and I, along with her best friend, were looking for something to do that would be unique to Chicago. We love to try new foods, especially if the place we are visiting is known for something specific. We also like to see history and learn about new places. The walking food tour is a great way to accomplish both at the same time.
Our guide, Kent, was great. He knew a lot about the area and was able to interject some humor along the way. We really enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend that anyone who likes food, history, or both take this tour! |

We had a great time on this food tour. Our tour guide, Colleen, was fantastic, funny, and well informed about the area. It was a perfect mixture of walking history and eating a variety of food including the Chicago staples of hotdogs and pizza. I would highly recommend this tour to get a good taste of Chicago along with some interesting facts about the city. I can't wait to come back and do the other tours sometime. |
