interesting and delicious

We had a varied group, from all parts of the country, differing ages, a very enthusiastic guide. Our walk was a little difficult for the older people in the group, but the guide was very accommadating to their needs. A couple of the places I would never have gone in on my own, I glad I had the experiance. We were unlucky enough to have continuous rain thoughout our tour so the ponchos provided by the guide were much appreciated. I would recommend it to our friends and would not rule out going on it again the next time my husband and I are in Chicago.

Informative Tour and food too.

Tour leader, Jenny, knew her onions. The visits to the various food establishments added an unusual bent to a walking tour of an interesting district and the choice of these outlets was ideal. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Rosie

Great leader. Would have not seen these places otherwise. Cultural. Lead us to great shopping after all the great food. Loved the history of places and other non-food stops on the way.

Best tour ever!

We were only able to do half the tour since we had to catch a flight back home, but even half the tour was well worth the price of admission. What a wonderful way to see some of the neighborhoods of Chicago and our tour guide, Nicki, was personable, warm and very knowledgable! Great!

A nice way to introduce yourself to Chicago

This was my first visit to Chicago. I decided to take a river cruise by the Chicago Architectual Group (I would highly recommend this tour). I spotted this food tour while walking the Magnificient Mile. A great tour to get to know the local Chicago neighborhoods and learn something about food and wine etc. A nice leasurely paced tour. They gave enough food to skip lunch.

GREAT Department Outing
Tue, Sep 23, 08   11:30 AM SSIPMGroup Male 40-49 Local Other
Instead of the traditional (BBB) Baseball game, Bowling or Booze outing, our department thought this might be fun...AND IT WAS! What fun it was to walk through the neighborhoods of Chicago while stopping to meet and experience some great stores, food and people? Rebecca was a wonderful host and kept us amused and informed about the architecture and neighborhoods we passed. I can only add what a great bonding experience it was and my people are still talking about it and planning on doing this again next year... Thanks for a great outing!

Best 3 hours in Chicago

Our leadership team did the walk as an outing. Some were local, but others traveled in for the event. A great way for out-of-towners to see the city and local folks to learn, and taste. Everyone had a great time. Just enough walking and eating. I highly recommend as a corporate outing or an afternoon with friends.

Great Spouse Event for Conference
Sat, Sep 20, 08   11:30 AM jmknetl Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I brought a group of ladies in town with their spouses for our annual conference. It was a diverse group of women of many different ages. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about Chicago. It was a lot of walking, but we were prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes. Emily, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the places visited and the city in general. Even the couple of locals had never been to several of the stops. We recommend the tour to visitors and residents of Chicago!

I thought the tour was a great balance of great food (based on the web description, I was afraid I might not be full but, pleasantly, that was not the case), a little exercise (via walking through the neighborhoods), and interesting information (on both the restaurants we sampled at, the one's we just passed along the way, and the neighborhoods we were in).

Great way to get a feel of chicago

We entered the tour with a business purpose in mind since we are in the food business. We really enjoyed the tour - it was a great way to experience the city in a bit unsual way. We visited places that you would not normally visit on either a turist trip or business trip and got a good feeling about what Chicago is. We highly recommend other people to go on this tour!

Could be better

About half of the places visited were wonderful and the others really lacked in content. Tea Gschwendner and the Spice House were the best. I think this is what is expected - have a little lecture about the product and a small tasting. The worst was Catering Chocolate. Just to pop in for two tastes of cheese had no substance. Even at the Fudge Pot where the manager did give a little bit of a lecture and passed around the cacao pod, dropped the ball by not explaining the difference between white, milk and dark chocolate - this is real basic stuff. I think Chicago Food Planet has a great concept but just needs to work on the actual content of each stop.

Fun walk even in a rainy day

Nikki was a fantastic tour guide, pointing out all the interesting architecture on the walk, answering questions, and giving insight into the Chicago food scene. We never felt rushed, even though I'm sure we were on a schedule. She maintained her enthusiasm, even as the rain continued to pick up and everyone got soaked. We had a great time and would consider one of these tours again when we are in Chicago.

participants should be able to buy items on the tour as it is sometimes not possibble to return to the shops in one's own time due to time constraints, etc
