I enjoyed this tour as much as my friend visiting. Our guide was knowledgeable about the food establishments and the history of bucktown and wicker park. I enjoyed the architecture lesson as well. I've lived here for 20 years and have never heard of this tour. Ill definitley add this to my list of activities for future guests. I enjoyed the food establishments, but would love to see other options as there are so many great places for foodies in the area.

We live in the Chicago suburbs and were spending a couple of days downtown and are so happy we choose to do this tour. Our guide, Kate, was outstanding. She was enthusiastic and informative. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that I want to get some friends together and do this again in the Fall. Also, we plan to do the other tour since this one was so outstanding.

It was amazing!

The food was delicious. We were very impressed with the history and credentials of all of the resturants and chefs. Our guide, Kent, was so knowledgable and was able not only to keep the group of 14 moving on time but do it in a positive humerous manner. Kent also knew so much about the history and gave interesting facts that will help us remember this wonderful afternoon. He talked to all of the participants during the walk and gave such good information and insight into the area. We loved the coupons on the sheet and were very appreciative of the participation of the resturants. The hosts in each resturant welcomed us with a smile and had everything prepared and ready - thanks to Kent's calling ahead - when we arrived. The resturants were each unique and complimented the walk with different views and tates of the area. Each resturant welcomed us whole heartly even at this busy time of the day. They had areas set aside for the group and never once made you feeled rushed or in the way. This was one of the best organized tours I have been on and I was very impressed not only with the tour but the timing of the tour. The three hours went very quickly. Because of the locations, we also had time at the end to return that day and purchase several items to bring home for the families to taste later that day. We had enough food that no dinner was needed that night - just happy memories of this wonderful tour. People are missing a great opportunity if they do not take this tour. It is fun, filling, and delightful. Our weather was perfect, our guide outstanding, and our food the best of the best in each eating establishment. We cannot wait to return to every resturant and enjoy more of their delicious food. The tour lived up to its name and I would recommend it highly to everyone. I used this as birthday presents for my sister and sister-in-law and they said it was the best present ever. THANK YOU!

Fantastic EVEN for LOCALS!

My boyfriend and I both loved the tour. He was a bit skeptical, but with in the first two stops he was having as much fun as I was. We are from a local suburb about 45 min. north, and we had never visited these shops, and are dieing to go back. After the tour was over, we walked back to 2 of the shops, (Spice House, and Tea Gschwender). Another favorite of ours was the Old Town Oil, balsamic vinegar and olive oil tasting, AMAZING! The only stop of the tour that both of us did not like, was called Catering Chocolate. Not that this store did not have its charms, but it was more of a catering business selling left overs than a shop that specialized in one item, (like the tea, spice, oil shops). It was the only store that we could not see ourselves going back to, both because of the high cost, and lack of enthusiasm from the owner. (Although the hummus and cheese where good.) I believe our tour leader was named Julie, or Jen, and she was great and very knowledgeable! Worth the money for a good day out in beautiful weather.

One not to miss...

I selected this tour after reading reviews at www.touradvisor.com, and since it is the #1 rated tour, it was not a difficult decision. Being somewhat familiar with Lincoln Park, I decided to sign us up for the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour, so we could experience something new, and what was described as a fun, unique and eclectic part of Chicago. It certainly did not disappoint! Our tour guide, Kent ,did a fabulous job of showing our group of 10 all the sights and tastes of the area, and teaching us about the history that makes this place such a treasure to discover. We quickly regretted sharing granola bars before the tour began, since it started right off with an authentic Chicago Hot Dog. That, along with the "to-die-for" iced "hot" chocolate, pasta salad, pizza, beer, falafel sandwich and ice cream that were to come, were all outstanding! We were stuffed by the time we got to the sandwich, but were given sacks so we could take them with us. It was all fabulous, but the innovative ice cream store was the most interesting thing I've seen in a long time! It was fascinating! The historic neighborhoods, with homes dating back to the 1800's, and the interesting facts that Kent shared with us about them and their owners were intriquing. I can't wait for our out-of-state guests to visit in August, so we can take the Lincoln Park tour! We all had a fantastic time, and highly recommend this tour!

Tough for seniors
Mon, Jul 13  11:00 AM schbus Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
The tour guide was very enthusiastic. We loved some of the placesbut were under the impression we would sit down a little more. My group was seniors and we would have liked to sit and listen and eat. We throught more food could have provided at each place like hors d'oeuvres. So we were a little disappointed in that. We felt it was worth $24.00 not $44.00. And it was a little too much walking for a person with an artificial hip. We all walk alot but I guess because there was no sitting we had a bad time. Could provide more restrooms stops also.

I went on the Gold Coast tour with some friends and it was amazing! Three hours flew by and I learned so much about the city I have lived in for four years. Each of the places we stopped at were wonderful. In fact, I just picked up lunch from one of the places we went to today! Our tour guide Ariana was fantastic. I highly recommend the tour and ask for Ariana as your tour guide!

This is our second food tour in Chicago. The food was good and the tour was very interesting. I found our tour guide to be very friendly, maybe to much at times. He tried to hard to be liked. I would recomend doing this as a couple, group or a single. I think kids would be bored and the walking may be to much for a small child

Even though we were all locals of Chicago we learned quite a lot about the history of the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhood. There are many places we look forward to going back to and exploring on our own. Thanks Carey for a great tour.

Great walk and information - short on food
Thu, Jul 9  11:30 AM RuthStevig Male 60-69 Local Family Without Children
The walk was wonderful, filled with interesting sights and information but not much food. Our guide was great with a warm personality giving each of us attention and answered our questions even when they were silly. Food however, was sparse getting only one small bit as a sample of the whole establishment except for the pizza.
