Great Fun, Long on Walking, Short on Eating

| Our guide Tad was lots of fun and very accommodating to our rather unusual group. I was accompanied by my 30 year old niece from Washington D.C. and my 85 year old father from the Chicago area. My niece had never spent time in Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed herself. My father enjoyed the walk down memory lane (as he worked in the city most of his working life and has been retired almost 30 years) but certainly would have appreciated a shorter lane. He came hungry as suggested but found the first food tasting a tad too long into the tour. I enjoyed the tour but would have liked to see more variety in the food tasted. If you enjoy walking and want to see a lot of the city, I highly recommend this tour. Be warned, the tour end is over 2 miles from where the tour started! | ||||||

| my friend and I took the tour thinking it would be just going from cafe to cafe however, it turned out to be much more... we walked through a wicker park neighbourhood where our tour guide Kent (i think) pointed out different houses and the history behind them, it was really fascinating..... he was very knowledgeable and fun, a true master working with people...he knew how to move us along without us feeling rushed... the cafes were ready for us, we had reserved tables everywhere we went so we could just sit and enjoy the food and surroundings... without a doubt we will book another tour with your company the next time we're in Chicago which may be in the spring Sue and Janice | ||||||

| It was a different way to see Chicago. Any tour that involves food as part of the experience wins in my books. All the stops were great. Except for maybe the Catering Chocolates one. I didn't quite get why we were there. The chocolate, pizza, oil and tea were awesome and we went back a few days later to buy stuff from the stores to share with the family we were visiting with. | ||||||

| Traveling as a single woman, I enjoyed this tour very much. It was easy and comfortable to be a single in the group. The meeting location was easy to find and we were given good directions on how to get back after the tour. Our guide, Shane, was enthusiastic, humorous, and very knowledgable. He seemed to really enjoy giving the tour. I prefer walking tours over driving tours and this tour introduced me to neighborhoods I would never have seen on my own. I have a new appreciation for the city of Chicago. The food tastings were as described when I read about the tour online. The tastings were fun, but only part of the tour. I enjoyed and appreciated the comments on history, local life of the neighborhoods and communities, and the recommendations on restaurants. The pace was not rushed, yet it did not go too slow. The tour was advertised at taking 3 hours and ours took 3 1/2 hours. A friend who took the same tour the day before said her tour took closer to 4 hours. Our tour started at 2:00pm on Sunday. I would recommend taking an earlier tour to allow time to go back to the stores for shopping before they close. | ||||||

| My group thoroughly enjoyed your tour! We loved the uniqueness of the shops visited, as well as the educational component with the neighborhoods. Very well planned out with drinks and restroom breaks. Our guide, Jennifer, was very very good and really seemed to enjoy her job. We have already recommended this activity to several friends, and would be very interested if you decide to offer another one in a different neighborhood, ie Little Italy or Greektown, or Wrigleyville? | ||||||

| My husband and I had never gone on a tour such as this before, and we really did have a good time. There is a lot of walking, so wear a comfortable pair of shoes. Be prepared for any type of weather. We had our umbrella handy which was a good thing since it did start to rain part way through the tour. Our tour guide Sean, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was a very good tour guide to have. He was well spoken and tried very hard to keep us on schedule. I wish we could have spent just a bit more time at each stop, but then the tour would have gone on forever. My husband and I wanted to purchase a few items at every stop but we never had the time. Unfortunately, we were on a bus tour that left the next day, so we were unable to get back to the various locations to purchase anything. All in all we had a very good time! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We had about 12 people in our group, all different ages, from different States and a few of us from Canada. Go for it! You'll learn something and have fun doing it! And ask for Sean! | ||||||

Fun, but a good bit of walking

| We all really enjoyed the tour, but it was quite spread out. This caused some problems with our going back to actually do some shopping. We ended up having to walk about 5 miles to go through the tour and then double back to shop. Our shopping only took about 10 extra minutes per shop. I wish we were able to just do our shopping while on the tour rather than have to walk the whole way back. | ||||||

| I thought the duration was a bit short compared to the 90 minute advertised trips by CAF (even then, the tour started at 11:05 and ended at 11:55... lost 10 minutes!), but it was an okay amount of time for my wife who wasn't an architecture buff. For a 60 minute tour, the detail was appropriate and entertaining. Would have preferred that it was more interactive and less scripted though. A couple of times I felt like the tour guide could have gone into a little more detail about the back-story for some of the sites. Otherwise, a very good and entertaining tour. | ||||||

| good tour of eclectic [mostly] mom & pop shops ranging from teas, spices, oils to deep dish pizza. while some of the tour stops seem like a marketing pitch, the weaving of certain architectural and cultural tidbits made it even more interesting. great for dates and new visitors to chicago. would have been nice to linger and shop at some of the stops but understand the time limits to adhering to the tour schedule. | ||||||

| My 20 year old daughter and I were impressed with the tour guide - Tad - his knowledge and presentation skills were terrific. We enjoyed all of the stops and samples along the way. Your design of the tour is just the right length of time and distance. We had perfect weather and friendly people. What more could one want? | ||||||

| I wanted to explore the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhoods and this was a fun way to do it. The stops on the tasting tour were varied and yummy. I was suprised that so much food was provided- a whole hot dog, half a sandwich, slice of pizza. I was expecting "bites" not a meal at each stop! Part of the tour is devoted to examining the architecture and history of the Wicker Park neighborhood and I definitely enjoyed seeing that. There are some beautiful homes in this neighborhood. Our tour guide Carrie was enthusiastic and fun. She made everyone feel welcome and seemed excited about her job. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has not been to these neighborhoods before. You will want revisit some of the places you eat and double back to places you see along the way. | ||||||

| I went on the tour with my mother - it was her birthday present. I am 35 years old, she is 72. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day! Being lifetime Chicago-area locals, it opened up a new world to us! Discover secret (and not-so-secret) gems of the city! It's an enjoyable outing no matter what your age or origin. Nicky (our guide) was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The tour was well organized. We highly recommend it. | ||||||

| We had a great time with Kate, she was informative but also spoke candidly and not like she was reading from a script. I would recommend doing this tour your first day in town and then you can see the areas that you want to go back to. | ||||||
