Well worth the time and money!
Sun, Sep 21  11:00 AM flavinsd Female 30-39 Local Family With Children
Our family moved to Chicagoland about 2 months ago and thought this would be a great tool for getting to know the area. We also had a friend up from Texas with us on the tour. This was perfect! We have already returned to several of the listed shops for gifts and items for ourselfs. Our daughter loved the tour also and at 9 they are hard to please. It is a long walk for the little ones but if they are foodies they will love it. As recommended do this first in your visit to Chicago because lots of ideas and places to visit are unlocked on the tour.

What a great way to spend an afternoon. We walked through three different neighborhoods, getting some history on each. The tastings were all varied and interesting. Kent, our tour guide, was awesome. You can find him now on the new tour in Wicker Park/ Buck Town. Highly recommend.

Great Spouse Event for Conference
Sat, Sep 20  11:30 AM jmknetl Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I brought a group of ladies in town with their spouses for our annual conference. It was a diverse group of women of many different ages. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about Chicago. It was a lot of walking, but we were prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes. Emily, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the places visited and the city in general. Even the couple of locals had never been to several of the stops. We recommend the tour to visitors and residents of Chicago!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew what to say and when. Never left us guessing, but didn't bore us with nonsense. The tidbits we got along the way was nothing ordinary, yet very interesting and tasty. The walking was good exercise with several rest stops. Learned information on Chicago that wasn't brought up on other tours. Would highly recommend and would also go again.

I would first like to express how much we loved our tour guide. She was fun, informative and kept our interest. She also kept us moving at a pace that was comfortable for us but also kept us interested. The actual tour was very factual and the food was plentiful and very tasty.

The Cultural Walk and Food Tour - Not to be Missed
Sat, Sep 20  11:00 AM BevDelor Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This particular tour was such an unexpected "find". It was more than 13 Plum Pretties of the Red Hat Society anticipated. Nicky, our guide, presented interesting facts about the various eateries and specialty shops. The shopkeepers' involvement and their contributions made things more interesting. The provided details were never boring and very well received by the ladies. It was deliciously delightful. The neighborhoods we walked through and tidbits of information about the various homes and buildings added excitement to the tour. Needless to say, I was so happy the 12 ladies traveling with me enjoyed it as much as I, especially since I had scheduled this outing for the Plum Pretties not knowing what to expect. It could not have been better or more fun. It was like finding a hidden secret. We all appreciated our guide's enthusiasm and professionalism, plus the friendly manner in which she gave of herself to the tour. I am certain Nicky's presentation added to the entire tour's success. I enthusiastically recommend this tour to others going to Chicago and looking for something new and fun to do. This tour is not to be missed. Thank you for a most wonderful afternoon. Hugs from The Plum Pretties, Beverley

The tour was interesting, fun, and delicious

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the shops that we visited. Everything was ready and waiting as we entered each of the unique stops. These are places that I normally would never have gone to, but am very glad that I did. Each stop that we made was so different then you would normally think of being on a food tour. My group was anxious to get back to the shops so that we could make purchases. Very well organized, informative, and especially fun. I would definately put this on my schedule the next time I visit Chicago.

Great look at "Real" Chicago and good history
Fri, Sep 19  12:00 PM rossearl Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
This is a great tour and an excellent way to start a Chicago trip. Wicker Park and Bucktown are a "Real" neighborhood, not like Navy Pier or Michigan Avenue. We wanted to see local living. In other words, eating at the TGI Friday's in Chicago is pretty much the same as eating at the one in Amarillo. My nephews (ages 13 & 15) vetoed any "museums", but I wanted them to get something more than shopping out of their first trip to Chicago. As suburbanites, we wanted to show them what it would be like to live in Chicago proper. This tour does that and gives you recommendations for about 20 great local spots. Take the tour at the begining of your trip and you will have meal options for the rest of the time. The food on the tour was nice. The boys are a little picky and brushed off some of the toppings, but each had a favorite item. The guides were very knowledgable and informative about the history of Bucktown and Wicker Park. They walked us through the rise and fall of the area. The construction/architecture, social ebb and flow, artists input..... just a fascinating walking history lesson with snacks! We recommended it to all our friends in Chicago and the family that couldn't make it. We only stopped at six places, but the descriptions of the local places had me eager to come back for a sit down meal. My family is not "foodies", but we still loved it. And if you are a foodie, I know you will.

I thought the tour was a great balance of great food (based on the web description, I was afraid I might not be full but, pleasantly, that was not the case), a little exercise (via walking through the neighborhoods), and interesting information (on both the restaurants we sampled at, the one's we just passed along the way, and the neighborhoods we were in).

We really enjoyed our tour - particularly the chocolate, fudge and oil tastings. In fact, we went back afterwards to make purchases. Our guide Jennifer was also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

The tour was fantastic. Jennifer, the guide, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She really made it a fun time. The places we visited were unique and interesting. I especially like the oil and vinegar store, tea shop and pizza place. I would highly recommend this to others.

We entered the tour with a business purpose in mind since we are in the food business. We really enjoyed the tour - it was a great way to experience the city in a bit unsual way. We visited places that you would not normally visit on either a turist trip or business trip and got a good feeling about what Chicago is. We highly recommend other people to go on this tour!

Yummy Trip

Just a couple of old friends spending a beautiful, warm fall day walking and eating our way through the afternoon. The 8 places were varied and interesting, but the extra comments about each neighborhood and it's history and architecture were wonderful bonuses!
