I belong to a travel club of 8 women and we get together once a year for a vacation. This year we chose Chicago. The Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour interested us as none of us had been to Chicago before, and we're all foodies. It turned out to be more than we expected. The guide was knowledgeable, and the tastings interesting and varied. The duration of the tour and the length of the walk were perfect. I would definitely recommend this tour - it was excellent! |

We had a wonderful time on our food tour!!! Kent was an informative and friendly guide, full of interesting information. The eight stops were well chosen, giving us a great sampling of foods available in the city. It was fun to walk in different neighborhoods, view various types of architecture, and learn more of Chicago's history. We highly recommend this tour for locals as well as tourists!!! |

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and went on this tour with a friend. It was a good tour to introduce you to new places in Chicago. I have more ideas for gifts and places to take friends. If you aren't from Chicago, you will learn some interesting facts from the tour guide and they do give catalogs to order things over the internet at a later time, since you can't purchase items on the tour. |

The guide was great. She was well informed and responsive to questions.
I've lived in the city for about a year and learned some new things about my neighborhood. I like history so personally I like more cultural and historical details, but the tour of the Gold Coast-Old Town neighborhoods was a nice introduction for my friend who's from out of town. |

My girlfriends and I didn't know what to expect from the food tour, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our tour guide Jennifer was great and very informative. She stopped to show us architecture, some famous buildings, and gave our group quite a bit of history of the city. There was quite a bit of walking involved, but we also stopped to rest. All of the stops in the tour were quite different. Although two of the stops were just "tastes," (the vinegar and oil shop and spices store), they were very interesting and places we would not have stopped otherwise. We also stopped in a tea shop and had big glasses of iced tea, candy shops which gave out great chocolate, and an authentic Jewish deli. My favorite stop was the authentic stuffed Chicago pizza near the end of the tour. The pizza was great! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the City of Chicago. |

Food Tour a Must See, Do, and Taste

Upon researching things to do in Chicago for our long weekend away, we found that the food tour had amazing reviews on tripadvisor, so we booked it. There were 8 adults in our trip. We chose an early tour - as recommended by previous participants to get to know the layout of the city - we had perfect weather so the day started off right. Here are a few tips/comments:
- you do walk approx. 2 miles (and 2 miles back if you are in the mood) comfortable clothes and shoes are a must!! I would also recommend carrying a backpack so that if you do make purchases they are easier to carry :)
- the walk is a comfortable pace with frequent pauses/stops.
- ask questions to make the most of your experience and learn more about the city
- there is a huge variety of houses and architectural items that are discussed - a camera is recommended but be prepared to take some pictures quickly some stops are very brief.
- this tour is off the beaten path - we did not come close to coming back to the neighborhoods later on in our trip so if you see something towards the end of the trip make sure you spend some time exploring the area (great shopping) before returning to the starting point.
- the tour guides advise against making purchases while on the tour, so make your selections quick or take note of the areas that you want to go back to.
- the sample sizes are quite sizable - some places offered additional samples. But keep in mind the pizza sample is towards the end of the trip so pace yourself because the pizza is fabulous.
- it is advised to eat breakfast before the tour - but don't eat too much because you start your first sample right away.
- bring water with you, tried to purchase water at the first stop and all counter staff were busy and therefore service was really slow.
- at the various stops the group was huddled together to minimize the impact to the customers of the establishments, be prepared to not have a chair at each stop.
We all had very positive things to say about the tour and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We also made numerous purchases later as we retraced our steps and utilized the coupons which are a very good deal! |

Our group thoroughly enjoyed the experience! A much better way to spend money than sitting in a movie theatre with the "not so healthy" popcorn!
As the saying goes, "It's always fun to learn something new!" and we did! The historical monologue by our guide was informative with interesting tidbits. And, of course, the variety of food stops made it that much better. We were so full we couldn't eat another bite!
The tour has thought of all creature comforts, when planning this outing. Multiple stops for breaks and sustenance were perfect.
Thank you for the cultural experience. This was my 2nd time around and I look forward to trying one of the new tours in development!
We endorse this outing 100%!! |

First of all the Tour Guide, Emily made the tour what it was. She was great, knowledgable, funny, and personable. The tour also covered my favorite neighborhoods. You saw and sampled things that you wouldnt typically think to do. |

I was expecting more tastings from different restaurants. Although, I liked the tour, but it is more for people who likes to cook, not exactly for people to like going out to eat. |

The Food Walking Tour was well thought out and well managed. Our guide was friendly, informal and knowledgeable. We enjoyed being introduced to a variety of specialty stores and shops, as well as being acquainted with some of Chicago's lesser known landmarks. We would recommend the tour to others and would go on the tour again. |
