Totally enjoyed it!

I think the best part of the tour is a chance to visit local neighourbood and try local food where first time tourists would not usually do. The tours are well organized. They gave you maps showing the walking directions and information of transit information, so you could easily go back to visit the places yourself afterwards. You also get to go behind the scenes in some places which I found quite cool. Next time I am in Chicago I will definitely try their other tours or even take the same tour again. Thanks Julie!

You will love it ~ something for everyone!

Our tour guide, Jessie, was very personable and knowledgeable. On some tours, I find myself checking my watch hoping that it is over - time flew by on this day and I never looked at my watch. I would have to say my favorites were the reuben (we went back the next day for another) and the oil shop. My least favorite was Catering - Chocolate ~ it didn't seem to fit with everything else. I would definitely recommend it to friends and look forward to visiting again and going on the other tour. Thank you for a great day!

Our guide had such enthusiasm that it spread throughout our group. I had a wonderful time learning about the history of the places we visited, as well as the history and architecture of other buildings we passed along the way. The food was great and the tour offered me the opportunity to try things outside of my norm (The Spice Shop and the Olive Oil/Vinegar place). Had a fantastic time and will try this type of tour in every city I visit!

It's one of the most fun things we did!

This is the 2nd food tour I have been on - I loved both of them. The tour guide (Kari) was so much fun and so knowledgeable about whatever she was showing us. The food was so delicious and the architecture was absolutely lovely! There was so much food - maybe a little more walking would be good on the Wicker Park tour. I wish you would add another tour - we're coming back next year and will certainly go on it again! We all loved it!

Scrumptious and Insightful Tour

Not only are you taken to wonderful food related establishments where you learn about their history as well as details behind what they offer but you also get to walk through a couple of great Chicago neighborhoods where they stop to explain the history behind them. This tour was top-notch all the way through! Our tour guide was exceptional.

Didn't feel welcome at the establishments

There was a lot of shuffling around. When we arrived, we were directed to wait inside George's, then we were brought outside for the welcome speech, and then went BACK inside to eat. Similar experience at iCream -- we started in the back, then went to the front to watch the machines, then BACK to the back for samples. As for food, George's dogs are good, but it would be nice to have an option on the hot dog toppings. Loved Hot Chocolate, but felt like we were intruding on other diners' space. Pasta salad at Goddess & Grocer was an odd choice, and we were crowded in the back by the cash register instead of being offered the table in front. Since Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza, why have thin crust at Piece? Sultan's Market people were friendly and the food was good. iCream has a delicious product, but the owner didn't even make eye contact or acknowledge we were there. Our guide was a little goofy and overly dramatic (our college-student nephew and his friend thought so too). A friend had recommended this tour, but I couldn't do the same. Maybe she had a different guide.

Can't ask better!

I went on North side tour a month ago and had a blast so I decided to give a shot for Bucktown tour. Of course I had a very good time again. All my girlfriends who were on the tour with us highly satisfied and had a really good time. Our tour guide, Ben, he was funny and nice. He explained well about food and history of Bucktown and pointed out couple of his interest in town. We couldn't ask any better. My friend is coming town to visit me again and I'm definately taking him on the tour. Hm North or Buck town? I liked North better because I got to know better about the city and its history. BUT we talked too long...and I much preferred the food choices on Buck town tour.

Something different

I and a friend really enjoyed the Gold Coast walking tour. It was a nice mix for the tastebuds (Jewish deli, tea, spices, olive oil, chocolate, appetizers and pizza). I felt we received plenty to eat plus I liked the architectural trivia along the way. Will definitely be ordering from some of the places since we did not have time to buy during the tour which was understandable. .

I thought I already knew everything there is to do

We called the number on the electronic boarding passes that spoke of the tour after we were already in Chicago. We decided to try it since we had done most of the tourist stuff listed in books. What a great time we had and to think when we left for Chicago this wasn't even on the list of things to do. It ended up being the highlight of the trip.

We truly enjoyed this experience! Our tour guide was bubbly and vivacious and truly knowledgeable about the tastings, the area, architecture and culture. We loved each and every stop on the tour because, for us, most of it was completely different than anything we had ever experienced. The teashop? - Wow!! The oil and spice shops? - double wow!! The time just flew and it was over too quick - but then you get to go back and shop - even better wow! We will definitely be signing up for another tour the next time we are in town. Thanks so much!

Woud recommend
Sat, Oct 24  11:30 AM Jbruins Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Tour was decent, although I felt it was a bit overpriced. I have done similar tours in NYC for the same cost and those were better (both in food selection and guide knowledge). I do feel, however, that this tour exposed me to a part of Chicago I never would have went to otherwise, so that was great.
