Great tour

We enjoyed the tour and Ken, our tour guide. Really liked all the places we stopped at. The neighborhood tour was a bit long for us only because it was a lot of walking for us to get there. Wish we hadn't made plans for after the tour so we could have gone back to some of the places we visited. Plan to go on the other tour next trip.

Off-the-beaten-path GEM!

Chicago Food Planet's Bucktown/Wicker Park tour is a fun, off-the-beaten path GEM! It was much different than the traditional tourist activities, got us out into the "real" neighborhoods to experience some unique and awesome food finds, as well as other historical tidbits. Highly recommend!

One of the best tours ever taken
Mon, Apr 5, 10   11:00 AM Doggymommune Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I enjoyed this tour so much that on the next day we returned to some of the shops to purchase things to take home. From the booking of the tour to the end everything went so smoothly. Our tour escort, Kimberly was bright, friendly, knowlegeable and very enthusiastic. We learned a lot about Chicago's culture and food. By the end of the tour at Bacino's, we were truly stuffed (like the pizza). I would also like to mention that the shop owners were very happy to see us return after the tour and were very accomodating. An example is Brian at Old Town Oil who helped us ship some bottles home. Thanks to everyone who made this tour so worthwhile. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago.

Excellent - you must do this

Our guide was excellent and her knowledge was great. She pointed out little things around the neighbourhoods you'd never notice otherwise. I was doing this tour with my sister, I live in Chicago and she was visiting me. We had such a great time, and now I want to do the Buck Town one! We went back to do a bit of shopping a few days later and bumped into our guide on another tour! She was great, and pointed out a few extra things that she hadn't managed to show us on our tour. This couldn't come more highly recommended!

Walked away with a lot more knowledge on the area that before. I doubt I would have stopped into some of these shops before that day and yet I went racing back to go shopping after. I expect that I will take another tour when I get back to Chicago. I also look forward to walking down these streets again feeling like a native Chicago-an when I return.

My husband and I went to Chicago for the weekend and had never been to that part of Chicago before. We enjoyed the tour immensely and loved the combination of good food and learning some of the local history. Our guide, Jessica, was excellent. I thought the route was well thought out allowing for a good balance of walking and sitting. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Chicago.

Amazing adventure - our family loved this tour!

I decided to book this tour after a girlfriend said she went on the near North tour and loved it. I choose the Bucktown tour because we had our kids with us and all the foods were right up their alley. We had a 14, 10, and 5 year old with us on the tour and they loved every minute of it. We started out with yummy George's hotdog's and then headed to Hot Chocolate and had a decadent hot chocolate with carmel served over ice(our 14 year old's favorite). Then we went to the Goddess and the Grocer and tasted some really good antipasta salad and explored the store. Very unique! We then headed to my husband's favorite place and that was Piece. We had a delicious slice of New Haven, CT style pizza that was AMAZING and also tried some of their own homemde beer. We then headed to Wicker Park and walked past some beautiful houses with some interesting stories to tell about the history of the area. Then we headed to Sultan's Market to try a falafel. I don't ususally like these, but this place has amazing falafel's! The kids were full and were saving up for the last stop so they gave us a bag for the road. We continued to our last stop which was ICREAM. A unique way to make super creamy yummy ice cream. Our 10 and 5 year old favorite spot of the tour. Our tour guide was very knowlegeable and made sure we were all having fun. She even remembered everybody's name after only asking each if us one time. I would recommend this tour for everybody - it is a great way to see different parts of Chicago and taste different parts of Chicago and have fun doing so! I am going back next weekend with my girlfriends to do the Near North tour and I am super excited about going back. Thanks for a great experience that all of us are sharing with our friends!

FANTASTIC!

I, along with my husband and two boys (15 and 12), would highly recommend this tour. We've been to Chicago many times, so we wanted to try activities we've never done before in the city. I researched this tour and read great reviews. Well, the reviews were right! We were blessed with great weather and a great guide, Nicky. She was incredibly friendly and outgoing. Plus, she's a native of Chicago which I think is an advantage. We went to places we've never been before and learned about architecture and other things along the way. Very inexpensive for all the information/food tastings you get in the 3 to 3 1/2 hour tour. You also get coupons to use at the places you stop. After the tour ended, we went to four of the seven places to make purchases. I'm sure I'll probably make orders online for gift-giving, too! It really says something about the tour when two school-aged boys liked it! We've already talked about taking the other tour next time we're in Chicago. I'll definitely recommend going to anyone I know traveling to Chicago. Keep up the great job!

Do NOT miss this tour!!!!!
Fri, Apr 2, 10   12:00 PM swsfamily Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We did the Lincoln Park tour in Chicago. We all enjoyed this more than any other event on our Chicago vacation....even my two teenaged kids!!!!! A few things: Our guide, Nicki, was absolutely outstanding! She got to know us all individually and was just as at ease with adults as she was with children. Her many stories of the history left us all wanting more. Note: the website says that this is not a full meal, but rather a "tasting". True, but do youself a favor - skip breakfast and don't plan dinner for the night you take the tour. They give you so much food, you will be MORE than satisfied. The selection was quite varied and each shop was outstanding. I wouldn't recommend this for young kids, but anyone over 10 would love this! From the pizza to the spice shop, the vendors were all warm and welcoming. It is a long walk, but not at all tiring. We paid just over $40 per person and it was 100% worth every penny.

We love Chicago and we thought we had been just about everywhere in the city...but wow what a nice surprise! We saw stores that we did not know even existed. The merchants were wonderfully kind. Shane our tour guide really impressed us with his knowledge and charm. Thank you for a most enjoyable day...we will come again, and tell others about the tours.
