| I really liked this tour. I didn't know what to expect. I am an avid walker and this was so much fun. I was able to see neighborhoods in Chicago I had never been to. The guide was informative and funny. After it was over we were able to use coupons provided and went back and bought some of the things we tried on the walk. The tea shop was great. Thanks. | ||||||

Great Way to spend an Afternoon in Chicago

| As a former city resident, I booked the tour just to spend time strolling through some of my favorite neighborhoods with the tastings being an after thought. However, much to my delight, the tastings turned out to be so much more enjoyable than I'd imagine. I did return to several of them the next day (with another former resident in tow) and made purchases -- tea, candy, olive oil and spices! Plus I plan to share info about all of the vendors with my local friends. Our guide Shane was funny, personable and gave a good presentation at each site. I felt welcomed at each stop. Our group, 10 people, was just the right size. There was so much packed into the two mile journey that it felt like a much longer trip -- but that's a good thing. The pace was perfect. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who truly enjoys interesting food. | ||||||

| What a delightful afternoon! Now I've another great tour to recommend to locals and our out of town guests! I consider myself the lucky one because I'll have opportunities to return again and again to these neighborhood specialty shops for their delightful offerings! Our guide was welcoming and knowledgable...about both the food and the local area. The food tastings were unique and delicious. My favorite of the day was the shop specializing in olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Food portions were generous. We ended the tour with our stomachs full and glad that we had walked off some of those pizza and chocolate calories This is definitely a tour for persons able to maintain a fairly brisk walking pace...wear your comfortable shoes! | ||||||

| I am local, so I wasn't sure if this tour would be interesting for me. I had a ball. I got to go to some places that I had never been to before - and will now definitely go back to. Be sure to bring your walking shoes! It is a long walk, especially on a hot day. However, I would do it again. | ||||||

| The tour was very informative. The guide Tad was very knowledgeable and friendly. The places we visited were very special local places and very enjoyable. The people in the shops shared food knowledge with us. Not only did we learn about the food we learned local facts. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that enjoys and active tour and has an interest in food as well as getting off the beaten path. | ||||||

| The tour was the highlight of our trip. It was blistering hot that day but you can't control the weather ! I would ( and have ) recommended it to all of our friends. I teach a cooking class and will also recommend it to my classes too. Richard Voigt | ||||||

| We found some great new shops that we will visit again on our next trip to Chicago. There was a nice mix of history, folklore, and architectural "tastings" along with the yummy food tastings. There was enough food for the ladies to call it lunch but definitely not enough for the guys or kids. | ||||||

| Really enjoyed the Chicago Food Tour. We really liked the Tour Guide Shane. He was very funny and very knowledgeable about the places we toured and also about the City of Chicago. Would definitely recommend. Was very pleased because we took a chance finding it online and we never knew anyone else that had been on the tour. | ||||||

| We had a great tour guide, very informative and friendly. But 3 hours is a little too long. I would recommend shortening it to 2 hours to maintain everyone's interest. The food samples were NOT very good... except for the chocolate samples. | ||||||

| The tour guide was very knowledgable about Chicago, very friendly and very fun to be around. We learned a lot more than just about the food and the restaurants in Chicago. We learned about architecture, history, etc. We got to see parts of the city that we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. The food samples were excellent and plentiful. Would recommend it to everyone!! | ||||||

Disappointed in Food Selections

| I enjoyed the tour in as much as the guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant and the neighborhoods visited were interesting. The tour group itself was friendly and enjoyable. I was a little disappointed in the food selections. I had hoped to get more of a feel of the cuisine of Chicago instead of spices, oils and vinegars and candy. The potato cake at the beginning was greasy (not a good choice) and the pizza at the end was cold and very dry; I think they could have made a better choice. | ||||||

| We loved walking around the neighborhoods, getting the history of the houses, buildings, parks and restaurants. The food was a great mix of beverages, desserts, appetizers, pizza. Plenty of food. Lots of walking but the scenery was worth it. We have been to Chicago several times but have never takien this tour. It was definitely worth it. Nicki was great. | ||||||

| We had 17 people in our group for the Chicago Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour. At first, I thought that was too much, but as it turned out, was no problem at all. Tad was our guide and he did a great job in providing information about restaurants as well as other interesting tidbits about Chicago. Our three-hour tour lasted almost 4 hours. Quite frankly, I wanted more. I was sad when it was over. There were a good mix of stops, however, a little too much chocolate for my liking. The tour starts at Ghirardelli where we were given some chocolate samplings. Then hits a fudge factory about half-way through, and then ends at another chocolate shop (Ethel's). Even though we had 17 people on our tour, there was plenty of food for everyone to have seconds and thirds of each sampling. The second to last stop was at a local pizza restaurant where there was enough pizza for everyone - and then some! We had a lot left over. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour. We walked about 3 miles in all - a fairly easy stroll. In the future I would like to see this tour extended to cover more of Chicago. A 5 or 6 hour tour covering 5+ miles with about 12 stops would be ideal! Why? Because when the tour was over it left us all wanting more. | ||||||

| PROS: We really enjoyed it. Learned some interesting details about Chicago. We had a great time. CONS: Alot of walking. Would have liked to have a couple more food stops. Would like to have spent more time towards Michigan avenue rather than going towards Lincoln Park | ||||||
