Fabulous Chinatown Tour!
Fri, Sep 14, 12   10:30 AM asparagusnib Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
This is a tour that shouldn't be missed! It provides excellent and generous portions of a variety of regional Chinese food from mild to spicy, all delicious and beautifully presented. Many non-spicy advocates were converted to lovers of Szechuan food after trying this cuisine on the tour - who knew? Also, thanks for the chopsticks serving tip! The history and architecture of Chicago's Chinatown is very interesting and explained in a colorful way. A special part of the tour was visiting a Buddhist Temple. Our guide, Lisa, was extremely knowledgeable, articulate, fun and well versed. Thank you, Lisa for making it a great experience! I can't wait to go back on my own and bring my family. What a fabulous time!

We are a married couple on our 2nd food tour

We truly enjoyed this tour and our guide was so very informative and enthusiastic! She was a delight. Enjoyed this one even more than the North Shore one because there was a MUCH larger variety of foods to taste. Truly a wonderful experience. Going to try the Bucktown/Wicker Park one next. Wish you had a Greek Town tour and perhaps a Little Italy. This is a wonderful idea and gives people a real "taste" of the various cultures our wonderful City has plus a sampling of the architecture and history of Chicago. GREAT!!!

Not To Be Missed!

This was my 4th trip to Chicago and the first time I've ever visited the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood. It reminded me of a mix of NYC's Greenwich Village and Soho. The tour had lots of variety in terms of food tasting(Chicago dog, liquid nitrogen ice cream, falafel, pizza, chocolate milk with homemade marshmallows, and vegetable salad). All the portions were good-sized and more than enough for lunch (and I'm no skinny thing!). Plus it was interesting to check out a new neighborhood and one that many Chicago tourists may not find on their own.

Fun day in Chicago with girlfriends
Wed, Sep 12, 12   11:00 AM NancyEaton Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
A group of girlfriends drove from Rockton,IL to go on this food tour. It was a beautiful day. Our tour guide, Kent, met us timely, all of the group told where they were from including two girls from Holland. As we walked we were given history of not only the food shops where we tasted but also history of the area we walked in. Our guide was very knowledgeable of all the food venues as well as the walking tour. I learned a lot of the history of the area and also of Chicago as a city. We in our book club had just read Gallway Bay, a book about Irish immigrants so because they came to Chicago we did hear about places they settled in. The architecture in the Gold Coast area is beautiful. Loved the old town area. Had visited that area on a business venture several months ago so it was very nice to hear the history of that area. Loved N Wells street . I think our tour was most interesting because of our tour guide. He was informative and with just the right kind of humor to keep our attention. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique day outing with fiends, family etc.

Our tour guide was Kent. I cannot emphasis enough how awesome he was and how great the tour was. The general knowledge of the area, the food vendors, and general history about different food items made for a spectacular 3 hours.

Walking Food and Neighborhood Tour

Really enjoyed the walking food tour - in fact, enjoyed the history and stories about the area - Gold Coast and Old Town, as much as the food. Our guide, Kent, was terrific! Very knowledgeable and great sense of humor. The food was very good - enjoyed it all, and liked the info on olive oil and spices too.

Fun tour if you don't know the city

This tour was great because it went to places I had no idea existed. The places we went to were all very different and fun. My favorites were the spice house and the deli! Love that pastrami. I do with that they served more food--I think for the price of almost $50, they should give at least 1 more heavier tasting.

We were fortunate to pick a fantastic fall Sunday to enjoy your Chinatown tour. Jess, our tour guide does an outstanding job! She answered every question we had, whether it pertained to food, history, customs, etc. I would highly recommend this tour, and am looking forward to our next Food Planet tour!!

Local Lunch & Learn for FUN!

The idea of featuring local businesses while sampling food and learning some historic facts about the neighborhoods and the local merchant is a win win. It was a beautiful day to take in the 1.5 mile walk and we really enjoyed the food, food facts, neighborhood gems & historical detail our tour guide gave us. It was a unique outing and one that I enjoyed with a friend. Would do it again in a heartbeat & would like to try one of the other tours offered. Try It, You'll Like It!!!

We had a fun Tour with Sophie(she was great). My husband and I toured the Buck Town/Wicker Park area. Food was yummy and enjoyed the neighborhood, especially the history of the area and were surprised to see so many interesting eateries with open air dining. We live in the Northshore suburbs of Chicago and would definitely go back to try many of the other restaurants with friends. Looking forward to trying other tours.
