Get ready for a tasting frenzy!

This was the second Chicago Food Planet tour that we have taken and we were, again, not disappointed. From George's Hot Dogs to ICream, the whole experience couldn't have been better. I would have to say that the iced hot chocolate was a little taste of heaven! Jess was a wonderful tour guide and told us all about the history of Buck Town and Wicker Park. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to tour and taste Chicago!

We had Carrie, who was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the food, the restaurants and the architecture and establishment of the Wicker Park and Bucktown area.

Kent was great. A lot of fun and info. Enjoyed by Grandma, Mom, and 20 something grandsons. Only problem- mom and grandma were stuffed. Boys of course ate again soon after getting home!

Very tasty and lots of fun!

We enjoyed this tour a lot. The food establishments visited were very good and we LOVED the guide. She was so enthusiastic and made it all fun. We also enjoyed learning about the Gold Coast and Old Town neighborhoods of Chicago which we knew nothing about. Of the food establishments, my husband liked the Jewish deli the best, I liked the tea shop and candy shop the best, and my son and his friend liked the pizza place the best. The only one we didn't really like was the spice shop. We were also a little disappointed that we didn't get to visit a Chicago hotdog stand since it is something Chicago is famous for. So, if you switched out the spice shop for a hotdog stand, the tour would be absolutely perfect!

Kent was a very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. All of the tastings were great and Kent was able to give us a lot of background on the Bucktown and Wicker Park neighborhoods.

Kent ( the guide) knew so much about the town and nearby restaurants (including those NOT on the tour) ... we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and ate WAY too much! The tour was recommended to us, and we have already recommended it to others!

A tour for the locals
Sat, Aug 21, 10   11:00 AM stanko210 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
These weren't the typical places I would want to visit on a tour, but each place was very unique and surprisingly delightful. I believe this would be a great tour for a local looking for something unique in town - versus an out of state tourist looking for something unique in Chicago (but I still had a good time). I would have liked it if the stay in each shop was a little longer (the tour noted that shopping was not allowed, but there wasn't even enough time to even sample all the other things in the shop). But I suppose a tour is a tour - a teaser for all shops so that you can come back. I would have gone back to the other shops, but I was tired (maybe excluding the shopping was a good idea) and I didn't want to walk all that way in the humid Chicago August heat. I'm happy I did the tour and I would definitely go back for the Bucktown tour next time I go to Chicago. (Thank you, Lauren for a fun tour!)

FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE

Our tour guide Lauren was funny, energetic and very knowledgeable. The food was great, although I personally enjoy my pizza with meat instead of spinach. The tea was yummy and the history and background very informative. We would definitely recommend this tour. It was well worth it.

My girlfriends and I had a fantastic time on the Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tasting and Cultural Tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the neighborhood, the restaurants, and the food! Everything we tasted was absolutely mouthwatering. Our favorite was the Sultan's Market and Hot Chocolate. Can't wait to go back to those places next time we are in Chicago! I recommend this walking tour to everyone!

This was a great way to spend an afternoon in Chicago. Chris was a great tour guide, informative, fun, thorough and knowledgeable about the city, food, culture and architecture. I learned so much, had so much fun, and got to walk and see the great city of Chicago. The tour was well organized and planned and the food tasting was just right. I have recommended this tour and Food Planet to all my friends and family. I will definitely take another tour. Thanks so much!

Every merchant was glad to see our group arrive in their place of business. It would have been nice to have been able to make purchases along the way to support the local shops. Tour director was enthusiastic and knowledgable.

Loved this Tour!

The food tour was a great way to see & experience wonderful but lesser known areas of Chicago. Our guide, Rebecca, was absolutely fabulous. I give her a 10 for a job well done! She was engaging, fun, knowledgeable & very personable. Our stops included places I wouldn't have known about or stopped at on my own. The historical knowledge & architectural aspects made the tour even more enjoyable. The tour was not fast paced which gives you a chance to take everything in & allows people of almost any fitness level to participate. This activity exceeded my expectations, & I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to add some culture to their visit.

Great tour - but HOT day
Fri, Aug 20, 10   11:00 AM cschilke Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Rebecca our tour guide was great - Knowledgable and personable. The Neighborhoods were architecturally interesting. The food stops were delighful and tasty. The tour was advertised as being suitable for all ages and fitness levels. My companion was quite fit, me not so much. The temperature was 98 degrees and it was humid that day. I made it through the first 6 of 7 stops. Rebecca suggested that I take a cab to the last stop as it was a fairly long stretch to walk in the noon day sun. The rest of the group conitnued the walk and were dragging a bit when we reconnected. I would definitiely do it again - if the day was about 20 degrees cooler. The best stop for me was the oil and vinegar store. I had no idea that drinking oil and vinegar straight up could be so delicious.

Rebecca was my guide and she was awesome. She took pictures of me at each stop to send to my girlfriend, which was great. Very eclectic group of stops. I loved that architecture and history were woven in to the entire tour. I also loved that I got to try new things at every stop!

Highly recommend food tour!!

I had never been on a food tour and did not know what to expect. The three hour tour lasted about three and a half hours total but it was totally worth our time there. I got to see neighborhoods that I otherwise would not have seen and saw some really unique stores I would have never walked in to. I was almost five months pregnant and was able to keep up in almost 90 degree heat. It's an easy, enjoyable walk and stops are frequent so time goes by pretty quick. I highly recommend this food tour to anyone willing to expand their food horizon!
