Visit from Boston to see son and daughter in law

Not only was the food good and plentiful, the education I received was interesting. Everyone who comes to Chicago, probably goes into Chicago proper with little regard for the other sections of Chicago. The homes were beautiful the area was beautiful. It was just a busy place with people all over the place. Reminded me of Boston's North End, or Boston's South End near Copley Square. Our tour guide was Sophie and she was just fantastic. I would recommend taking a food tour.
Let me elaborate a little more on section 2 above. Our group consisted of 2 from Boston, myself and my wife. 1 transplant from Boston, my son. 1 local, my daughter in law, and another local, my son's mother in law. |

Took the Gold Cost tour last year, so in comparison: (realize this is a very busy Saturday afternoon neighborhood). Hot chocolate was so busy had to have this on the street so didn't get a good feel for the restaurant. The Godess Grocer was claustrophic and not really significant enough to be a stop given the limited space. Piece was great and we had are own section but the pizza was cold and probably ready before we were there. Our guide was great and did the best given the circumstances. There are so many food possibilities in this area I think it would be better to pick places that welcome and can accomodate these groups. |

If you're like me, you would normally visit the most well-known spots when exploring a new city. This tour provides an introduction to a part of Chicago maybe not as well known as downtown and the Magnificent Mile. It is a trendy, artsy neighborhood, but with lots of history, which is explored in this tour. The food stops are very tasty and the establishments have their own history, which ties in to the history of the neighborhood and is explained well by the tour guide. Definitely worth it! |

My friends and I have always wanted to go on a Food Tour; and after going on the Gold Coast/Old Town Walking Food Tour on September 8th, we can't believe we waited so long. We had a wonderful time and learned things about our own city we never knew. The restuarants were very nice to our group; and we had plenty to eat in the samples they served. My friends and I already know what Food Tour we want to go on next time. |

My first visit to Chicago was complete with the food tour of the Gold Coast & Old Town. I went with 3 girlfriends and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the tour. I thought the spice store and oil store would be uninteresting, but they turned out to be my favorite stops. The spice store was so fragrant and the olive oils/balsamic vinegars at Old Town Oil awoke my taste buds to new levels. I have been on other food tours in California, but this tour, by far, is my favorite. Our guide, Jess was so animated and fun. She knew so much about the products at each stop and gave interesting historical background information of the area. I was also impressed that she made an effort to learn our names and make all of us feel so welcome. We cannot wait to return and go on the other tours. |

This was our second tour with the company and it was fantastic. Our tour guide Ploy was very informative and shared a lot of her personal experiences with our group that gave some cultural meaning to the items we were tasting. Make sure to arrive with an empty stomach as there were four stops and a decent size portion was included. You will be exposed to different types of cuisine and come away with the confidence to stray away from the usual "americanized" dishes |

The three hour walking tour of food places and information about the Gold Coast and Old Town neighborhoods was fun, and enhanced my knowledge of these Chicago areas. I liked the variety of restaurants and specialty food stores. Our guide, Kent, was knowledgeable and entertaining. I would go on another walking tour with the Chicago Food Planet group. |

Our tour guide, Kent, was entertaining and knowledgeable of the area. While dining we would get a history lesson about the location. The food we tasted was very good and portions filling. The overall experience was fun and I would do it again. |

Getting into Chicago neighbourhoods with someone who lives there gives us an up-close-and-personal experience into places tourists would not normally be fortunate enough to enjoy. Thanks for a wonderful time! |

Heather was great. My husband and I live in Michigan and had friends with us from the UK.
We all enjoyed it and it was great for us to experience a new side of Chicago from the usual tourist sites.
Would recommend to anyone not on a diet and will likely try one of their other tours next time we're in town with friends. |
