Every merchant was glad to see our group arrive in their place of business.
It would have been nice to have been able to make purchases along the way to
support the local shops. Tour director was enthusiastic and knowledgable. |

Chicago and its divided neighborhoods is a city with profound and absorbing history we know less about and this was a nice chance to look and see details from its past as well as taste and sip portions of its heritage from quiant cafes and corner delis. A hospitable, warm, and brimful knock-on-the-door journey with a great, great local captain and navigator. |

Our tour guide was wonderful, the variety of shops was great and the food was delicious. My daughter lives in Chicago and we have spent a lot of time at a variety of places in the city. This tour gave us an opportunity to see parts of the city and learn about shops/restauants that were new to both of us. Highly recommended! |

My boyfriend and I were in Chicago for a week and we did eeeevery tourist thing possible--shedd aquarium, adler's planetarium, field museum, sear's tower, handcock observatory, architectural cruise, etc....but the food tour was the BEST!! The tour is perfectly designed to include interesting facts, delicious food, and the opportunity to leisurely walk some of it off while we toured the neighborhood. =)
Kent was AWESOME. He lives in the area, loves the area, and has no problem showing us tourists around and sharing all of the local secrets. A good tour guide definitely makes the experience. It was raining and we still had a great time. Don't forget to tip him...he deserves it!!
The food portions were INSANE. I had to take some of the "samples" home in my purse! The first stop was a full-sized hot dog with all of the fixings (chicago-style). Then we got a full-sized chocolate drink with homemade marshmallows, some pasta salad, a huge slice of pizza with beer, a huge falafel, and some ice cream!! We didn't even eat dinner that night (and my boyfriend can EAT)!!
Another great surprise was that we all got coupons to the places we visited (to be used after the tour). Right when we finished the tour, my boyfriend and I backtracked and bought goodies for gifts and ourselves.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour to anybody who wants to try some great food and something different from the typical tourist activities. |

Carrie was a phenomenal guide! It was down-pouring rain and she enthusiastically led our group through the Wicker Park/Bucktown areas completely undeterred! We loved seeing the local side of Chicago eateries and touring the historic Victorian mansion neighborhoods. What a terrific experience for the foodie at heart! |

We LOVED our tour. Our guide, Jess, was knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. The tour was a great way to learn about the Old Town neighborhood and Chicago history, and to sample (and learn more about) a bunch of different foods, spices and drinks. The amount of food was just right - you won't get stuffed, but you won't be hungry either. We will definitely do another tour next time we are in town. |

While we enjoyed everything on our vacation to Chicago, we both agreed that the walking/food tasting tour was our favorite. Well paced and the 7 venues visited complimented each other well. |

What a great tour! I really enjoyed all the details about the architecture and history of the buildings and neighborhoods we passed through. All the food was delish and very representative of the city of Chicago . This really made my trip to Chicago one I'll never forget. Kate was a great tour guide. |

I grew up in Chicago and work within blocks of the start of the Near North tour. I gave the tour to my Mom for Mother's Day as I thought it would be a fun mother/daughter activity. Not only did I sample food that I have never tried in Chicago but I learned alot of history along the walk. Our guide was very knowledgable and energetic - you would never know that she provides this tour multiple times a week because she delivered it with such great enthusiasm. The tour took a total of 3.5 hours and we walked under 2 miles total. That being said, we were both exhausted at the end of the tour, and our bellies were completely satisfied :) We cannot wait to go on the Bucktown/Wicker Park and the Chinatown tours next!! |

It was a great way to see Chicago. Not your typical sit in a bus and look at sites from afar. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was fun and informative. We walked into neighborhoods and parks that we would normally pass by. Learned very interesting information about buildings and businesses. We visited fabulous stores and restaurants out of the main stream of tourist attractions. The unique stores were small and quaint. They all had their specialties and we learned so much from each one of them. I just received my package from the Oil & Vinegar store. Yum! I am very excited about trying the new flavors.
Next time you are in Chicago, put your walking shoes on and check it out. This is the only way to tour a city and find all the really cool places. Tourist traps watch out. |

My wife and I participated in the Near North Food Tour and really enjoyed ourselves. Starting with a reuben sandwich on the freshest bread with the tastiest homemade "russian stye" dressing and ending with Chicago's best pizza was awesome. Every stop in between was wonderful and included tea, pastries, spices and oils, and sweets from a candy store.
Our tour guide Hilary was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. She was very personable and I think she contributed to the overall fun of the day.
The only thing we would change is the duration as it was 3-1/2 hours long. We both feel that it could have been done in less time.
Overall, it was a great time and I'm glad we participated in this unique tour. |
