Chicago Food Planet Food Tours

Of all the things I did in our four day trip to Chicago, this was the best! I thoroughly enjoyed getting away from the hotel area and into the real neighborhoods of Chicago. The choice of shops we visited was good, but what really made the tour was our guide, Jen. Her knowledge of not only the shops and the food, but the homes and history of the neighborhoods was excellent. I'd highly recommend this tour!

I was in Chicago with my husband - who was attending a legal conference, therefore, while he was in meetings, I wanted to do something besides just shopping. I do love to cook, so that is why I chose this tour, because of the blend of places that we visited. The mix of shops was perfect and I did go back to 3 of the places and made purchases. Our tour guide was Jen and she was great - very engaging and full of facts and knowledge about Chicago history. It did rain almost the whole tour, but we were having such a great time that I don't think anyone minded - just be sure to take an umbrella and raincoat if rain is in the forecast! I would definitely take the other tour the next time I come to Chicago - but I can't imagine that it could top this one.

My sisters and I took the tour and all three of us loved it. Our guide, Jenny, was great, full of information on the Gold Coast. The tour lasted a little over three hours, but the time flew. Don't eat much before you go, you'll get a lot to eat!

Had a wonderful guide who showed us the area and gave many good details about its history and current info. The restaurants were really wonderful. We all enjoyed this outing very much. I was really impressed as to how the neighborhood has come back.

Arianna was fantastic.

The leader of the tour was friendly and very knowledgable about his material. The fact that the group was largely local did not put him off his game. The food choices were very good with the exception of Goddess & Grocer ( a different sample should be chosen). All in all an enjoyable afternoon with friends.

We were 12 Chicago-area ladies from the 20s to the 60s spending a fine day with our tour guide, Kent. From the food to the restaurants to the history and architecture, everything was well planned. If you want an easy going 3 hours with a bit too much good food, here is a great tour to choose.

I can't say enough about this wonderful tour. Delicious and abundant food, fun and knowledgeable tour guide, beautiful architecture, extremely well-organized. I would love to see more quality tours such as this one in other Chicago neighborhoods. Whatever you do, don't eat before the tour! Water and bathroom breaks were available at stops along the way, and although there was a lot of walking, there were many opportunities to sit also. We were three generations on this tour and all of us loved it.

My mother, age 78, and I went just for something different. Not too difficult for her and yet not boring or limiting. It was so great! The tour guide, Kent, was very nice, the food was a great assortment and the cultural/historical information was fascinating. We loved it and look forward to doing it with our spouses or friends and taking the near north tour.

I enjoyed the whole 3 hours. The places that were chosen were a great mix of food cuisines. I expecially enjoyed the archectectural aspect. The guide gave us a good history lesson. I would recommend to all my friends.

I went on this tour as a corporate outing with 7 of my coworkers and the group throughly enjoyed the historical information provided throughout the stops on the tour, and the food was really good. Would recommend this tour to anyone.

My partner and I visited Chicago Oct 6-13 and went on the Near North Food Tour on Oct 7. We lucked out on the weather, cause it was a pretty wet and cold week. Anyway, the tour was awesome. Jenn was a terrific guide and make everyone feel welcome. The stops to the various restaurants and stores were fabulous, especially when there was interaction between us and the owners/ staff. Jenn shared some great insights on the homes in the various neighbourhoods we visited and pointed out other things of interest that would be helpful for the remainder of our stay. Favourite stops included the Tea Store, Spice Store, and Oil & Vinegar stores. The Pizza at the end was excellent as well. The only place that I didn't really enjoy was the chocolate/catering place. I didn't feel the food or experience there was all that special. It could have been made more special if we had an opportunity to taste one of their specialities (something they made for one of the big clients) and if there was some interaction with the owner. Anyway, overall I totally think this was worth it. Preview the video on the site... it is a very accurate reflection of the experience you will receive.

Our guide was excellent and helpful with suggestions. Anyone who enjoys food and tourism should spend part of their day. I enjoyed seeing another area of Chicago. I learned alot. I am highly recommending my daughter and I go to the food tour in Washington.

Our guide Jennifer was a perfect example of what a quality tour guide should be....enthusiastic, informative and professional.......I appreciated the fact that the places we visited were out of the ordinary.........the walking tour provided a nice way to learn about Chicago history, social aspects and architecture of the area and of course, enjoy the food tastings......I've already placed an ordered from Old Town Oil and plan to order from Tea Gschwendner for the holidays............................................... ........thank you....Janis Goto of Honolulu, HI.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was great - very entertaining. Enough food for lunch was an understatement - there was plenty of food for lunch and then some. Enjoyed the neighborhood tour as well - very interesting. My only regret is that there is no ICREAM in my neighborhood!!
