Best Tour In Chicago!

I took my girlfriends on this tour last weekend and we all agreed that it was a fantastic experience. Our tour guide, Nicki, was very knowledgeable and had contagious enthusiasm! I am a Chicago local and have been on the tour before, but it never gets better and better each time. This is a can't miss event!

Great Fun, Long on Walking, Short on Eating

Our guide Tad was lots of fun and very accommodating to our rather unusual group. I was accompanied by my 30 year old niece from Washington D.C. and my 85 year old father from the Chicago area. My niece had never spent time in Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed herself. My father enjoyed the walk down memory lane (as he worked in the city most of his working life and has been retired almost 30 years) but certainly would have appreciated a shorter lane. He came hungry as suggested but found the first food tasting a tad too long into the tour. I enjoyed the tour but would have liked to see more variety in the food tasted. If you enjoy walking and want to see a lot of the city, I highly recommend this tour. Be warned, the tour end is over 2 miles from where the tour started!

Shane was such a great guide. He had a great sense of humor. His presentation was informative. He was proud of where he lived, and it showed.

My 20 year old daughter and I were impressed with the tour guide - Tad - his knowledge and presentation skills were terrific. We enjoyed all of the stops and samples along the way. Your design of the tour is just the right length of time and distance. We had perfect weather and friendly people. What more could one want?

We came to Chicago to visit specific destinations and stumbled across this tour and thought it would be a nice way to fill in a time slot. We found this to be the best experience of our whole trip! Our guide was GREAT! He gave us interesting information on Chicago and the neighborhoods as we walked through them. The weather was perfect and we were definitely not hungry when we finished the tour. We would highly recommend this tour.

My wife and I took the Chicago Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour on a cool, rainey, blustery day. In spite of this it was a totally enjoyable experience. The guide was upbeat, gracious and informative, as were the people at the food establishments where we stopped. We highly recommend the tour.

Wonderful Food Tasting Tour!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and thought our guide, Shane, was knowledgable, enthusiastic, and a great ambassador for Chicago's food and history, It was nice to get off the Miracle Mile and see some of Chicago's neighborhoods and visit places that locals frequent. All the "tastings" were excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the "spice" store which was very unusual and to which we returned to after the tour to make purchases. If I had to complain about something, it would be that we went to too many "sweet" places - started at Ghirardelli Chocolates, had potato pancakes at a deli, sampled tea, visited the aforementioned Spice store, ate chocolate at a fudge/candy store, had fresh baked artisan bread, wonderful pizza, and ended up at a "chocolate lounge." I would have been happier with more savory food samples, but it's hard to complain about too much chocolate. I also liked the list they gave us of local restaurants to try, although I was surprised that Shane had no recommendations for a good place for Italian Beef sandwiches - seems like any foodie going to Chicago would want to know where to go for deep dish pizza, Chicago dawgs, steaks, and Italian beef sandwiches. All in all I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to do something a little different in Chicago and to have some good food and see some local neighborhoods,

My daughter-in-law and I took the tour while our husbands were at a convention in Chicago. I was a lilttle skeptical when I signed us up; I found the site on the internet while searching for things for us to do in Chicago. I had nothing to base my decision on, but the tour sounded interesting. We genuinely enjoyed the tour very much; not even rain deterred our group. Our personal favorite was the gourmet tea experience and the custom spice shop... but the rest of the tastings were all fun, delicious and educational. Our group's leader was Shane - his personality was extremely pleasant and he made everyone in the group feel comfortable. The walking part of the tour was very informative and we saw so much of the north side neighborhoods and what is probably the true flavor of Chicago as it relates to everyday life in a city. We would go again and our husbands want to go next time. Diana Phillips Paso Robles, CA

I went on this tour with a group of high school students. The teenagers were all excited about the tour . They are still talking about how neat it was. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the walk was good , and our guide was tremendous. The walk kept you on the move, but we weren't running to keep up.

Great tool for educationing students

What a wonderful way to educate students in the field of culinary arts. My students fully enjoyed the experience and it stimuated some to want to pursue a career in many of the fields of food we explored on our tour. Our guide was the best and worked creatively with the students. We all thought he was the best. We are a small downstate school with students in food service and this was the best tour we have ever been on. Thank you for offering such a wonderful experience.

Don't Miss this Fun and Interesting Event

Many people have written that they'd take this tour again. It was so awesome, that I actually did! My boss took those of us who report to her on this tour a month ago for our annual team outing. When I told my team about it back at the office thinking we might try it as next year's outing, the vote was unanimous to cancel our other plans in favor of this. Nobody was disappointed. Shane, the tour guide, is fun and makes everyone in the group comfortable. The tour travels through interesting and beautiful neighborhoods that make you want to go back and see more. The food was wonderful, and the proprietors of the establishments were welcoming, many of them giving us a little education session on their products. At the same time there was no push to purchase, since this quick-moving tour leaves little time for browsing. We all learned something new about the city, its neighborhoods and culinary tidbits as well. This event is a must do for tourists and locals alike. Do yourself a favor and don't miss it!

Once a year our department goes on an outing together. I found this one on the Internet while searching for some new ideas. The other members of the group and I agreed that this was the best outing we've had. Our tour guide (who did a great job as he was both knowledgeable and entertaining) took us through some of the most beautiful and interesting neighborhoods in Chicago. He did a great job of pointing out historical areas of interest. The nice variety of foods presented were all great and the weather cooperated as well. We couldn't have asked for more. We'd definitely recommend this tour and might even take it again ourselves in the future!
