Something different

I visit Chicago every year and each time I try to find something different to do. This was a very enjoyable afternoon. The guide was informative and fun! I would highly recommend this tour not only to visitors but to locals looking for something unusual!

Wow! This is the BEST way to see Chicago and sample some very good things! Our tour guide, Nikki, was so enthusiastic, we could have just been happy talking with her. Her knowledge of history and landmarks made our first Chicago visit a really positive one. The foods were very good and we actually returned to three of the shops on the tour in the next two days to shop and eat. I liked the small group we were in (only 5) and the generous amount of snacking we were permitted. This is the perfect way to see the North Side. I highly recommend it. Out of the seven different things we did in the 5 days we were in Chicago, this tour was my wife's #2 rated after the play, WICKED, and my #3 after WICKED and a Segway tour. Wow! Why not Segway to the food shops! A great idea! BF from Chattanooga

It was a great neighborhood adventure. We all learned some history, some trivia and about all those little out of the way really nice shops that are fun and interesting in the various neighborhood's. Was so nice just too be able to look around and listen to our group leader with out having to check a map for directions. Some wonderful toffee at the Fudge Pot. Learn how to make a proper cup of tea at Gschwendner. The cheese at Cobey Foods was soooo good as well as the pizza at O"Fame'. The Spice House was nice becasue of being able to taste the hugh variety of spices on their shelves. Looking forward to taking my friends when they come to town to take the tour with me and to having a Ruben at Ashkenaz Deli where the aroma when we walked in was mouth watering. The walking pace was just right and the guide had a lot of knowledge about the area and was a lot of fun and made us all feel very comfortable and pampered. Would recommend it a must when in the city.

Our tour was more than three hours of great entertainment. Knowledge of all the neighborhoods was supplied in detail by the guide. History of the area and af the various food establishmants was excellent. Lots of trivia was also part of the tour. It was well paced-our group are seniors but had no problems.I will certainly recommend this to anyone going to Chicago.

This 3 hour tour exceeded our expectations ... we got a chance to walk through several Chicago neighborhoods and truly admired the city landscapes ... the food was varied and our stops were well timed for a chance to rest ... our guide was exceptional ... he not only knew his stuff, he delivered his descriptions of the food sites, city parks and history with humor and flair.

My wife and I took the Chicago Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour on a cool, rainey, blustery day. In spite of this it was a totally enjoyable experience. The guide was upbeat, gracious and informative, as were the people at the food establishments where we stopped. We highly recommend the tour.

Despite horrendous weather (snow and rain and downed power lines!)), our small group of a brave five of us in total had a good time, with a nice variety of tasting stops (warn people that there truly is NO need to eat lunch afterwards!), and interesting comments about the different areas of Chicago. If possible, more on the architectural variety would have been an added plus.

The weather was rainy and we still enjoyed our day. The walk was so interesting. We learned as tourists that there is more to Chicago than Michigan Avenue and Navy Park. Most of the success was because of the interesting and personable young man that was our leader. He was just great.

Great Time

My daughter-in-law and I took the tour while our husbands were at a convention in Chicago. I was a lilttle skeptical when I signed us up; I found the site on the internet while searching for things for us to do in Chicago. I had nothing to base my decision on, but the tour sounded interesting. We genuinely enjoyed the tour very much; not even rain deterred our group. Our personal favorite was the gourmet tea experience and the custom spice shop... but the rest of the tastings were all fun, delicious and educational. Our group's leader was Shane - his personality was extremely pleasant and he made everyone in the group feel comfortable. The walking part of the tour was very informative and we saw so much of the north side neighborhoods and what is probably the true flavor of Chicago as it relates to everyday life in a city. We would go again and our husbands want to go next time. Diana Phillips Paso Robles, CA

I went on this tour with a group of high school students. The teenagers were all excited about the tour . They are still talking about how neat it was. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the walk was good , and our guide was tremendous. The walk kept you on the move, but we weren't running to keep up.

Unique Tour

A very interesting activity. Shane our guide (think that was his name) was energetic, funny, and knowledgable about the places we visited and the foods we tasted. I have highly recommended this tour to my friends/family. The only thing I would suggest would be to (if possible) include a food tasting with a little more protein/dairy at the start of the walk. Stopping at a cheese store/deli to sample some great cheeses and or salami's would be wonderful. I also would add maybe 5 - 10 minutes more to each stop. Felt a little rushed near the end of the tour.

Different and Informative

Even though it was a very hot day with temperatures into the 100's (well it felt like it!) the tour was thoroughly enjoyable. Shane, our guide, was informative and entertaining as well as making sure that we were supplied frequently with cold water and trying to keep us in as much shade as possible. Even our thirteen year old granddaughter to whom all such learning experiences are "boooring", thoroughly enjoyed herself and couldn't stop talking about it when we returned to our hotel, and since our return to England. Please pass our thanks on to Shane and we would recommend both him and your tour unreservedly.

I learned more in the four hours of the tour about food, architecture, Chicago history and trivia than I have learned on other tours. The guide was excellent; the group was very friendly. A walking tour is the best way to see up closely and slowly enough an appealing area of Chicago. I couldn't believe how far I had walked. And I am 67. The tour was four hours, not 3 as advertised. But we needed four to experience what we did.
