Great tour...excellent value!

As first time visitors to Chicago, we were relying mainly on Trip Advisor and similiar sites to inform our decisions on what to see and do. We weren't entirely sure what the Food Tour was all about, but decided to give it a try. We were absolutely taken with the entire experience. The food sampling provided a varied and delicious lunch and the guided tour through the Chicago neighbourhoods was interesting and informative. Our tour guide, Martha, had lots of details to share with us, most of which I'm sure could not be found in any guide books. The vendors were all very welcoming as our group descended upon them and everything was very well organized. I would strongly urge anyone visiting the city or even residents of the city to take the Near North Food Tasting and Cultural Walk.

Eat, Walk, Enjoy!

Our second food tour in as many days, and it was really hot outside...but we enjoyed this tour at least as much as the Near North tour. It's hard to pick a favourite food tasting because they are all sooo good, but you gotta see how they make ice cream before your eyes at the last stop! We learned a lot about Bucktown/Wicker Park from our friendly and enthusiatic guide. You do go on a significant walk through the neighbourhood so be sure to wear good walking shoes. I especially enjoyed this part of the tour (the architecture and history is really interesting in my opinion), and the eating/walking was well paced to keep me comfortably full. We think these tours are really good value.

This was definitely the highlight of our visit to Chicago. The tour was fun and educational, the food was great! Servings were much larger than we anticipated and we learned much more than we would have expected. Kent was a great tour guide! Would highly recommend this to anyone.

Kent did a great job on our tour! He was funny and knowlegable. The food was really good - the pizza slice was huge as was the reuben sandwich. We really enjoyed the spice shop and the oil and vinegar shop. Highly recommend this tour.

Something different to do in Chicago
Thu, Aug 23, 12   11:30 AM HBShields Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Other
If you're looking for something different and fun, then do this. Foodies will be satisfied, those of us who like a little gentle exercise will be satisfied as will those who like to have a historical insight into a fascinating area of Chicago. Feels like you get to know the place. Kent the tour guide had a super sense of humour and got all of us chatting away quite happily in no time at all ( Kent you said your Mom reads the reviews, so I hope she's proud of her skilled and talented son). This was the second time we did this tour - the first time we came with work colleagues and enjoyed it so much that when we came back to Chicago it was on our 'to do' list. There is plenty of food, so make sure you come hungry and leave room for the amazing icecream at the end.

Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed this experience--the food is wonderful, and our guide kept us moving and entertained as she informed us about this area of the city and the food vendors that we visited. On our first ever day in Chicago, we were impressed and would recommend this tour to anyone who is a little adventurous and enjoys food and walking!

Fun, something to do

Nicole, our guide was great, really informative and personable. I wish the tour would have made more stops like the first stop at the Jewish deli. Seeing places that have been there for a really long time was cool, but some of the others were so-so. The best part was hearing about how the neighborhoods have changed over the years and our guides descriptions of certain houses along the way. Not sure if its necessarily a "food" tour, but still something fun to do!

Nicole did a great job leading our tour. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was a great hostess. We enjoyed all of the stops on the tour (especially the pizza and hotdog) and also enjoyed learning about the Bucktown/Wicker neighbourhood. A great way to experience Chicago.

We are an international couple and it was a great experience for both of us. It provided an opportunity to experience hidden Chicago shops and gave us interesting bits of information along the way. The food was good and the presentations at each location were enjoyable. We had a nice time and would do it again.

Learned about food, the city, and its history while enjoying some excellent food. Visited areas of the city and restaurants and stores I never would have visited if not for the tour. It was great to also learn the history of the Gold Coast and Old Town. Learned the history of spices, the differences in caffeine levels between tea and coffee and how a deep dish pizza is made. Great tour.
