Good Walk & Good Food
Sat, Sep 12  1:00 PM kcostabile Female 30-39 Combination Couple on a Date
I liked how the tour took us to places that didn't sound all that appetizing for me as a non-foodie (e.g., oil & vinegar place), but it turned out to be fabulous! I would recommend scheduling time after the tour to walk back along the route so you can buy all the yummy things you tasted. Only so-so tasting was the catering-chocolate shop. Rest were pretty great :)

Good historical and present look at these areas. Guide pointed out hot spots and we sampled the local cuisine. Great if you are looking to return to the area for some food and night life at a later date.

For something different and fun to do, definitely sign up for a tour. The food was great, the tour was fun, and it was a nice way to spend 3 hours in a new city. All of the guys were nice and made you feel at home. Really enjoyed getting to know Wicker Park/Bucktown. Thanks Ben!

Fun for natives
Sat, Sep 12  12:00 PM lindajdawson Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
I hoped this would be fun for 4 natives who want to always learn more about the city - and try new restaurants. Jessie was animated and delightful. She shepherded 16 of us about with agility. The restaurant/shop tastings were enlightening with the groups clear favorites being the spice shop and olive oil/vinegar shop in Old Town - not places we would just wander into on our own. It was "light" on architecture but some good, fun stories. The 3 hours whizzed by. Only thing I would change is the last stop was a hike away when there is so much good pizza downtown.

Great time, great food, excellent tour guide

It was a beautiful Fall Saturday afternoon when a friend and I went on this tour. Our guide, ( I think his name was Brad), did an excellent job describing the history of the neighborhoods and telling us interesting facts about the restaurants. This is something you really do not want to miss! It would be nice if the restaurants changed every year so that you could experience other hidden places in these neighborhoods. I also went on the Lincoln Park tour and found it to be just as wonderful.

In addition to the food tour, we also got a little bit of a "neighborhood tour" of Wicker park which was a bonus. It was nice to learn the history of the area to appreciate the foods from the area more.

One of a kind experience...

My husband and I decided to do this tour for something different. We were bored with the same old tourist attractions of Chicago and we love food. The tour was not like your average Chicago experience. We got to expiernce neighboorhoods of Chicago and food I didn't even know existed. It was a pleasent experience and I would definitely recommend. I can't wait to try the other tour!

Our tour guide was very informative and gave great details of surrounding areas. We discovered hidden treasures in parts of town we would never know to visit on our own. Great tour!

Terrific Food Tour
Sat, Sep 12  11:30 AM BMP243 Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
Based on the reaction of our group of 6 (4 from Chicago and 2 from California) everyone was very positive about the experience. Not only did the guide, Arianna, know her stuff, but she was personable, interesting and thoughtful throughout. Seeing the Near North and hearing about the architecture added to the wonderful experience of stopping in the various specialty shops and hearing firsthand what the shopkeepers had to share about their products. We would ALL highly recommend this tour. Arianna has the 11:30 time on Saturday.

Really great experience!

I signed my boyfriend and I up for this tour as part of his birthday present. Upon signing up, I didn't realize that we would be given as much information on the history of the neigborhoods, and wondered how we would fill up three hours. I was very pleasantly surprised at how informative the tour was, since I had not spent much time in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area prior to doing the tour. The food was also amazing! I was very full at the end of the tour, which was also more than I expected, since the description suggested we would only be getting a 'tasting', which made me think it was a small sample. But the food was great, and it made me want to go back for more! I especially appreciated teh variety of food that was provided. Finally, our tour guide was excellent. He was very enthusiastic and able to answer any questions our group had. I have been recommending this tour to everyone I've told about it. Hopefully I will get a chance to do the near north tour someday.

A Trip for All The Senses
Sat, Sep 12  11:30 AM afriedman Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
From our greeting at Aschenaz Deli and the delicious Rueben sandwich the sights, sounds, tastes and smells were wonderful. At each stop we learned about the products sold there and were able to sample. Along the way bits of Chicago's history and architecture were discussed. Our guide was knowledgable and enthusiastic. I have already recommended this trip to several people and will remember fondly our gastronomical adventure in Chicago.

Fun, Filling, and Interesting

This was our first food tasting tour and we loved it! I thought it was a well developed tour. The tour guide had a comfortable demeanor, yet he did well at managing the group. Most importantly, he was full of interesting information. I loved the unique places we ate and the history of the establishments told to us. The architecture and neighborhood information was a great mix with the tastings. I recommend the tour.

Exceeded Expectations
Sat, Sep 12  11:30 AM jillienp Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
I am a local and live in downtown Chicago, and I learned much more than I ever could have expected. The tour guide we had (Saturday at 11:30am) was knowledgeable, fun, informative and very inclusive of a very mixed group. The restaurants and stores we visited were perfectly spaced out, and had wonderful new ideas and even "eating lifestyles" to consider. Needless to say, we backtracked at the end of the tour, and purchased wonderful items from almost every place we visited to take home with us. Everything from Jalapeno flavored oil with a cilantro vinegar to Fire Salt spice and wonderful teas. It was so fun, we are going to do the other tour when more friends from out-of-town come in! Seriously, this tour is not to be missed by out-of-towners OR LOCALS!

HIGHLY recommend!!! Different & Fun!
Sat, Sep 12  11:30 AM lisaem Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Myself and two of my girlfriends went on a long weekend to Chicago and wanted to do something different. We wanted to do a tour but not just a regular tour. We decided on this and we're so glad we did. We would have never seen the areas we walked to if we didn't do this tour. We discovered some great shops and got to try some cool foods. We definitely got enough food, so you will not need lunch after. In fact, we did eat breakfast but then upon arriving at the first stop of the tour, we got a sandwich tasting! Every place was very generous with the tastings- you get the whole item, not just a bite. I would highly recommend it, it is fun and interesting! You will walk a lot but we wore flip flops and were fine. There are a lot of stops, it was quite lovely. Arianna, our guide, was awesome! She even wrote out a list of things for us to do later that evening. We took one of her restaurant suggestions that night and the place was great. She went above and beyond what she had to do and was extremely enthusiastic! Really enhanced our Chicago weekend!

I've lived in Chicago for 4 years now and I have only been to one of these great places that we went to. Plus the historical and general depth of knowledge of the specialities of the stores was great. If you like history and good knowledge then its a great tour, but as a great bonus, you get to eat amazing food.
