At first I thought this tour was a bit expensive, but after doing it, it was worth the money. The guide was knowledge able and entertaining. The restaurants were unique to the culture and the food was very good. I would do a similar tour again and recommend it to others.

This was a great way to see the city and hear bits about food, architecture, and the character of the neighborhoods we were walking through. I'd say my least favorite stop was Catering/Chocolate - nothing special there at all. The other stops were a lot of fun, especially Old Town Oil and the Spice Shop, and the pizza place was a perfect way to end the tour. Our tour guide was so enthusiastic and you could tell that she really loved her city. Good way to get to know the city. A bit more local color would be nice - Italian beef, Chicago hot dogs, etc, but my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.

great way to see a Chicago neighborhood

I would normally NEVER have gone into some of the stores we stopped in. The deli was awesome and Chris gave us great background on the deli and sandwich we had. It was wonderful! We also went to a spice shop. Never knew taste testing could be so tasty! The choices were abundunt and fresh and the price was very reasonable. The oil shop was VERY interesting...many flavors I would never have dreamed of. The combination of walnut evoo and apple balsamic was my favorite! Tea...I now know a lot about tea! Very tasty too. There was also a stop at the chocolate shop where we tasted toffee. It was very fresh, crisp and chocolaty! And ending with a huge slice of stuffed pizza....YUM! Whoever said there wasn't very much food was WRONG. I know the stops were spread out over 3 hours but there was plenty of food for this tour to count as lunch and a snack! Our guide, Chris, was entertaining and informative. I very much enjoyed the walk and his dialogue about the different neighborhoods, architecture and culture. I would recommend this tour to everyone. It was the best thing we did in Chicago! Meaning, it even beat the shopping!

We had been to Chicago before and had seen many of the tourist sights. We came this time with our 16 year old son, and we all thought it was the highlight of the trip. Loved many of the tasting stops and especially the neighborhood history.

I learned about this tour on food tv - and it well worth our time & money. My husband was skeptical and ended up really enjoying himself. Niki, our guide was very informative. Later during our vacation we revisited several of the locations & used the coupons they gave us. Definitely do this tour early in your trip so you can enhance your vacation. By the way the Spice House was our favorite stop.

I have been on both the Bucktown/Wicker Park and Chinatown foodie tours in the past and loved them so I did this one to conplete the hat-trick during a recent trip to Chicago. As my title implies, this tour was also fabulous! Would recommend any of their tours to anyone :) And, everyone I've ever interacted with from Chicago Food Planet has been top drawer! Shout-outs to Heather, Lisa, Carrie, Kent, and the person who manages the Twitter/Instagram for being great and making the experience memorable.

We loved the food (and Kent)!

My friend and I went to Chicago for a girls' weekend and decided to try out a food tour; it didn't disappoint! It was great to learn about another area of Chicago and its history while getting to sample delicious food and drinks. Kent was the perfect balance of informative and entertaining. We found ourselves quoting him the rest of the weekend "No taco is worth waiting 2hr for" and "I'm going to explain the difference between a brew pub and a microbrewery - which people always confuse." I will be telling any of my friends who go to Chicago to be sure to check out a food tour with Chicago Food Planet Food Tours. Personally, I can't wait to go back and try one of the other food tours, although I could easily do Bucktown/Wicker Park again!

My husband and I loved the tour! It was a very educational experience. We feel like we know Chicago a lot more now! We just hoped we could have tasted more food. But the overall experience was great:) We are definitely doing a taste tour of other cities.

I've travelled to Chicago a dozen times and I done all the museums, shopping, outdoor summer activities and this was one of the best ways to experienced the city! The North loop is a gem of an area with interesting shops and eccentric architectural buildings. Our tour guide Alia was fun, smart and her chef background really added to the tour. I would highly recommend this!

Great way to sample some of the restaurants and to learn a little history about the area. Walking through the neighborhoods was a great way to digest the food while exploring a part of the city I probably would not have done on my own since I don't know my way around. The architecture of the houses was beautiful and the food was delicious.

This is the second tour my daughter and I have gone on with Chicago Food Planet and I would highly recommend them. Our guide, Jessie, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we enjoyed visiting neighborhoods and restaurants that we hadn't been to before. We are not from the Chicago area and this gave us an opportunity to get out of the tourist areas and see some other areas of the city.

My daughter and both I enjoy cooking (and eating) and we were looking for something different to do while in Chicago for the weekend. This tour fit the bill perfectly. Our tour guide, Nicki, was enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgable. We enjoyed the variety of different shops and restaurants and seeing neighborhoods that we hadn't seen on previous trips to Chicago. Nicki kept the tour moving at a nice pace, but we never felt like we were rushed through any of the stops. We went back to several of the shops, after the tour, to purchase the items we had sampled and are looking forward to trying them out at home. A friend of mine was also on the tour with us and the 3 of us couldn't stop talking about how much we enjoyed the day. I would highly recommend this tour.

Excellent Activity even if you are from Chicago!

My cousin and I took the Near North Food Tour as a way of spending time together and seeing a bit of Chicago. I am originally from Chicago but have lived away for 16 years and my cousin is from New York. We met in Chicago and wanted an activity that we could both enjoy as well as still have an opportunity to talk and be together. The Food Tour was both! We thoroughly enjoyed the places we toured and the information we got out of the tour - food, architecture, history and just plain fun. I would heartily recommend the tour for any group (might be enjoyed a little better by adults). We were able to walk on a pretty nice day and see shops that we might not have otherwise known about. The tour guides were friendly, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. We plan on taking the other Food Tour next time we're in town!

I was very impressed with our tour of Chinatown! Our guide Ploy was knowledgeable and entertaining. We explored several places to eat and learned a lot about Chinese culture, Chinatown in Chicago, and Chinese food. I would highly recommend this tour!
