Fun and Informative

This tour was a ton of fun. We're Chicago area natives and learned new things about our city. The tour guide, Rebecca, was very enthusiastic and made the afternoon a very enjoyable experience. We would and I already have recommended this tour to my friends.

GREAT Department Outing
Tue, Sep 23  11:30 AM SSIPMGroup Male 40-49 Local Other
Instead of the traditional (BBB) Baseball game, Bowling or Booze outing, our department thought this might be fun...AND IT WAS! What fun it was to walk through the neighborhoods of Chicago while stopping to meet and experience some great stores, food and people? Rebecca was a wonderful host and kept us amused and informed about the architecture and neighborhoods we passed. I can only add what a great bonding experience it was and my people are still talking about it and planning on doing this again next year... Thanks for a great outing!

We had a blast on this tour! We saw so much of Chicago that we wouldn't have normally seen. We also got to try many new things and had a great time with our guide, Nikki. We will return to take the new tour and maybe even take this one again! Fabulous and well worth the money!

Best 3 hours in Chicago
Mon, Sep 22  11:30 AM tcalabre Female 40-49 Local Other
Our leadership team did the walk as an outing. Some were local, but others traveled in for the event. A great way for out-of-towners to see the city and local folks to learn, and taste. Everyone had a great time. Just enough walking and eating. I highly recommend as a corporate outing or an afternoon with friends.

2nd Time Around
Mon, Sep 22  11:00 AM petert63 Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
This past Monday I went on the Near North Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour for the second time. I had gone in July with my husband and some friends and had such a great time I recommended it to two other friends who were both eager to go. Even though I had already experienced the tour, I had just as much fun as the first time, and both my friends loved it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to visit Chicago and to people like me who have lived in the Chicago area forever!

Cute, interesting neighborhood food tour

I (we - my daughter 20 and niece 21) really enjoyed this tour. Though it does not really explore Chicago's cuisine (we were kind of expecting more up-scale restaurants - food tasting), it is a very enjoyable, fun, little tour. I would recommend it without hesitation, but explaining that food is not the highlight of the tour. I (we) really enjoyed the pleasant, almost quaint atmosphere of the tour, walking Chicago's neighborhood, and seeing a more realistic side of the city. We loved the spice, oil, and tea shop (though 2 out of 3 of us are not tea drinkers) because they were different and offered a real learning experience. Beacuse of time we could not enter the Deli which I wish we could have, that is part of the charm of the tour...different, small, interesting places. I thought the tour was a bit rushed which contradicted the leisure atmosphere of the afternoon. One last comment...maybe vendors visited could try a bit harder to make us feel welcome...sometimes it fet as though they were a bit annoyed with our visit (exceptions: tea place, local chocolate place, oil/vinegar store, and a few others). Maybe I should mentioned where I felt in the way: catering place and spice place. All in all and despite the few observations I made above, we really liked the tour, our guide was very pleasing, knowledgable, and helpful thus making the experience even better. To conclude let me say that it was a very pleasant, charming, interesting , and different way to spend an afternoon in Chicago and we would do it again.

We had a great time on our tour on a beautiful early fall day. Our guide was informative, the food stops were varied and interesting. It was very well organized with the food tastings ready as soon as we walked in each stop. Thanks for a great day!

Great - Needs more balance

This tour was suppose to be 3 hours, but it was closer to 4. The originating stop had a food tasting, but the next 3 stops in a row were tea, spices, and oil/vinegar. While they were super interesting and a great part of the tour, the tour description says that it is good for lunch. We scheduled our tour for noon based on that. We had an 11 year old who was starving for the first two hours of the tour until we finally stopped at a candy shop, a catering store, and then finally to pizza and dessert. I would space out the food stops more evenly so that you're not starving for the first half of the walk and then full for the second. Our tour guide was great and very informative.

We had a great time, and learned things about Chicago, that we didn't know before. The combination of the food and the architecture was very informative.

Well worth the time and money!

Our family moved to Chicagoland about 2 months ago and thought this would be a great tool for getting to know the area. We also had a friend up from Texas with us on the tour. This was perfect! We have already returned to several of the listed shops for gifts and items for ourselfs. Our daughter loved the tour also and at 9 they are hard to please. It is a long walk for the little ones but if they are foodies they will love it. As recommended do this first in your visit to Chicago because lots of ideas and places to visit are unlocked on the tour.

What a great way to spend an afternoon. We walked through three different neighborhoods, getting some history on each. The tastings were all varied and interesting. Kent, our tour guide, was awesome. You can find him now on the new tour in Wicker Park/ Buck Town. Highly recommend.

Great Spouse Event for Conference
Sat, Sep 20  11:30 AM jmknetl Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I brought a group of ladies in town with their spouses for our annual conference. It was a diverse group of women of many different ages. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot about Chicago. It was a lot of walking, but we were prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes. Emily, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the places visited and the city in general. Even the couple of locals had never been to several of the stops. We recommend the tour to visitors and residents of Chicago!

Exuberant, fun and educational

Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew what to say and when. Never left us guessing, but didn't bore us with nonsense. The tidbits we got along the way was nothing ordinary, yet very interesting and tasty. The walking was good exercise with several rest stops. Learned information on Chicago that wasn't brought up on other tours. Would highly recommend and would also go again.
