Enjoyed every aspect especially the independent merchants and the quality of their products and samples. The knowledge of the guide was extensive and we found that the tour is true to being off the beaten path. Therefore we felt that we had a taste of Chicago that was authentically neighbourhood based. The walking was also a pleasure and fortunately we were not out on an extremely hot day.

Kent was a great tour guide. Humorous, informative and patient with a challenging group. (We were joined by a group of dependent adults.) He handled a couple of problems that cropped up with aplomb. If I may suggest, it would perhaps be better to have disabled groups tour privately to accommodate them better. As a caregiver, I always appreciate having extra time. My elderly mother, 10-year-old son and myself enjoyed ourselves immensely. Only wish we'd been staying closer to that neighborhood so we could have taken advantage of the coupons and our new found knowledge. Kimi

We enjoyed the history and local factoids provided, good pace and amount of town covered, nice variety and choices of stops, did not care for the plug for tips at the start of the tour.

The only tour we needed in Chicago!

Our leader, Kate, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She showed us many of the landmarks that we would have seen on a strict sightseeing tour. I especially enjoyed the pizza place and the oil and vinegar store. We loved the guy from the pizza restaurant. He was so very entertaining. We came home to Louisiana and ordered tea and oil and vinegar and will order from the spice store as well. It would have been nice, at the end of the tour, to have an order form for the items we saw in the stores and, for a fee, could have them delivered to our hotel or home. People would have been much more likely to purchase.

Wonderful excursion

This tour is a fantastic way to see "inside" Chicago. I loved learning about each of the shops we visited and the care they all took to be sure we enjoyed our day. Our tour guide was a natural - and she showed her enthusiasm of the city and the places we visited. Learning about the architecture and history of the area was exceptional. I can't wait to come back and re-visit some of the shops on the list!!!

Good food samples, interesting info provided at each stop with enough local history, architecture, and stories to keep the tour flowing and interesting for all. I was very thankful that shopping was not allowed on the tour. Providing shopping time to meet everyone's interests would have stretched the tour out to long. My wife and I did, however, return to a few of the stops after the tour to use the discount coupons! Chicago is the "windy city" so be prepared if the weather is cool. It was perfect for us.

We had the tour on the first day of our first visit to Chicago - we enjoyed very much to have this kind of introduction, giving insight also in the culture and hinstory of Chicago.

Well worth every cent. There wasn't a single part we didn't enjoy. And it was a great balance between learning about the city, enjoying some interesting tastings and eating great food.

Best way to see the town

We tried this tour and were both very pleasantly surprised. It was fun, it was interesting and every time we were getting tired, it was time to stop and sample something. The coupons for discounts later was a great idea too.. we went back for some of the items and we were both very satisfied and not hungry when we finished. We told our relatives who live in Chicago about it and they are looking forward to doing this too.. we are wondering if this exists in other cities too?

Excellent tour with delicious stops

This was a wonderful tour of many places I never would have known were there, and boy would I be missing out. The tour guide was engaging, enthusiastic, and a pleasure to be around - a true food lover, and very imformative too! I really enjoyed the unique stops and walking through the city learning about some of the buildings we passed along the way. A unique highlight was an unexpected invitation to see the inside of a random passer-by's home in one of those splendidly made buildings we had been talking about. I highly recommend this tour, it is well worth the money and the time.

Fabulous .... but .......

Fabulous tour, guide Jennifer was enthusiast about her city and her knowledge was great. The only drawback was too much chocolate. It would have been nice to see a couple more ethnic type of deli's or restaurants. LOVED the spice and oil stores and went back to purchase items later. Tour could have been done at the pizzeria, it was great! but then a long walk to a chocolate store. Highly recommend for visitors to the city!!!

Jennifer, our guide, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and full of joie de vivre. We had a thoroughly wonderful experience. Having lived all my life in Chicago I still learned a thing or two about my city, in addition to enjoying all the food stops. I hope you will create other tours equal to this one. I have already recommended this to several of my friends. Kudos for a job well done. Thanks to our lovely guide as well.
