My husband and I did the Near North Food Tour and loved every second of it! The tour guide, Jessie, was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgable about both Chicago and food. She was so much fun! The tastings were fantastic and we loved that we got to see areas of Chicago we may not have seen otherwise. This tour is a MUST for anyone who loves food and wants to learn more about Chicago!

I can't say enough good things about this tour. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The tour was fun and informative. i would recommend it for a first-time visitor to the city or a long-time resident. It is a great way to see the neighborhoods that make up Chicago and find places that one may not see on one's own or using the usual tour books. Our guide made it fun. She definitely loved the city and was enthusiastic in sharing it with others. The tour is well-planned. It is a perfect length with a good mix of stops. I never felt overwhelmed by the length of the walk. I can't wait to go back and explore the places we saw at my leisure.

Great way to see Chicago neighborhoods

It's a great way to see parts of Chicago that you won't get on other tours. You walk around real neighborhoods, eat good food and learn a little history. Don't expect an all-you-can-eat buffet, but you do get to sample some very good foods from real Chicago restaurants. Some of the stops on the tour are more informative than they are filling. On the tour we took, we had a great Rueben from a Jewish deli and some of the best Chicago-style pizza I've ever had. But a couple stops offered only a small taste. All said, it is definitely a great way to spend a few hours. The tour guide is great, very enthusiastic. When you're finished with the tour, you'll feel like a Chicagoan.

Could not have been better

We have a condo in the Gold Coast but decided to be tourists in our own town. It was wonderful. The group was charming--children, singles, everyone had a great time-- the guide was wonderful, the food was delicious, the information was captivating. There are not enough words to describe how much we enjoyed ourselves. We would recommend this outing to any and everyone.

A Must-Do in Chicago!

The Near North Culinary Walking Tour is fantastic! I enjoyed it far more than the recommended Architectural Boat Tour. What a wonderful way to see the city, and learn interesting facts, as well as trying local cuisine. The stuffed pizza at the end is well worth the walk around. Jennifer was the best tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of having. She is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

AWESOME!!!

This tour was Wonderful!! The food was amazing as were the shops that we visited. We went back to almost all of them to purchase the things we loved. I have been to Chicago a few times to go shopping and never left the Miracle Mile area. However a lot of the stores and resturants on Michagan Ave. are chains and we like to go to Mom and Pop stores and resturants to have a glimpse of how the locals live. Learning about the different neighborhoods throughtout Chicago was just what we needed. We had an amazing tour guide named Jen, she knew so much about the city, and all that it has to offer outside of the the normal tourist attractions. We are already planning our next visit to Chicago and we will take the other food tour they offer. Jen thank you for all the great info on the city. I hope you are our guide on the next one. I will recommend this tour to everyone.

My wife and I have visited Chicago many times in the past 30 years but this was fun and interesting. A small group with a great guide (Jenn) who made the long walk interesting and worth our time. She worked hard to please and accomodate. I never would have stopped in these shops on my own. We went back and bought at 3 of the places we visited on our way back to the start.

GREAT TIME

This tour was really good. My sister, daughter and I all enjoyed it enormously. The speciality food shops were interesting to see and it was good to be taken to places a bit off the beaten track, which we normally wouldn't have gone to. The Oil Tree shop and Spice Shop I particularly liked and, of course, the Fudge Shop! I liked the fact that these were mainly traditional family based businesses, using fresh and/or local produce. We went back the same day and bought some tangerine oil and some spices and, of course, chocolate! Our guide, Ariana, was lovely - very pleasant and informative, telling us lots of interesting stories. Ariana - sorry we missed you at the end of the tour - we were so busy enjoying the lovely pizza that you had already gone by the time we left. Keep up the good work!

wonderful day with Jennifer

I was sooo impressed with our guide, Jennifer, she was an absolute 10!! She was knowledgeable, articulate and extremely engaging. The food tasting was very enjoyable with the my favorite being the spices, balsamic vinegar and olive oil tasting. A suggestion would be to eliminate the deli with the hummus tasting as it was not as interesting as the others. No one seemed interested in us being there, as the other owners and employees were at the other locations. Getting a background of the local history and architecture was an added bonus by Jennifer. I would highly recommend this tour. Sharon Redding, California

We didn't know what to expect and hoped that we would find something of interest on this tour. From the moment Jennifer introduced herself, I knew this would be a fun event. We learned so much about Chicago and the foods and stores that we visited. Jennifer was truly outstanding!

This tour was a nice diversion from the usual tourist destinations of museums and parks. Anyone who enjoys food, cooking, or a walking tour of the local neighborhoods will enjoy this experience. The group was mostly older adults, but there were a few kids/teens present and they enjoyed it as well. Jennifer, the tour group leader, was well informed with a wonderful personality and communication skills - really delightful! I enjoyed all the destinations of restaurants and shops; they have some specialty shops that were really interesting and fun to visit and very informative!. Also the tour of the neighborhood homes was interesting - you can appreciate the architecture and the local life there. Great stories from Jennifer! The only destination I suggest they change out is the catering food shop. Not very interesting and the food there is expensive; better to go to a restaurant where you can sit down and eat.

Yum Yum Chicago

I have done one other food tour which was in New York (Lower east side) and although I loved it, the Chicago one was much better where food was concerned. The Portions were enormous (and I really think they could be a bit smaller) but it did give you a sense of the food you were eating. I loved the tour guide. The only comment I would have is it would be more fun to have a better historical sense of the area. there was a little of that but since I'm a history buff that would be of interest to me.
