Jenny was Great!

We loved the details of the tour; Jenny provided fun facts, history, and information about each individual community. She is full of passion for the city and the local shop owners that we immediately fell in love with Chicago all over again. The shop choices were fabulous and a great variety, which we are sure to revisit again on our next visits. We enjoyed the entire tour and expect to schedule with this tour company again with friends and at the different locations. Thank you much! Theresa & Joseph Golubski

Great tour that surprised me

This was a great tour. It started out with a sandwich at a great Jewish deli, then went to a great tea shop where we got an education about tea and left wondering why coffee is so predominant in the U.S. when tea is the #1 beverage everywhere else in the world. Then it was off to the Spice House which will be getting internet business from me. I've never seen a better selection of organic, fresh spices. Then next door to Old Town Oil, which was my favorite stop. We did an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting...don't knock it! We left with a bottle of the best olive oil I've ever tasted and will be ordering the 18 year aged balsamic! Then it was off to the Fudge Pot--yeah, chocolate! Then to a catering and chocolate place, then ending up at Bacino's Pizza for authentic Chicago stuffed crust pan pizza. It was a wonderful and surprisingly educational tour. Highly recommended.

Great Way to Spend Time in Chicago

This was a great tour of the Wicker Park/Bucktown area. It was very informative and Kent Seaver was very personable, interesting, and knowledgeable of the area and the places we visited. The food was terrific and definitely enough to not only keep you going during the tour but enough to fill you for the day. It was just the right combination of walking and sitting so as not to exhaust anyone. I have already recommended it to friends who I know visit Chicago occasionally. We are from Florida but my daughter lives in Chicago and I have told her about it as well. Great tour and great tour guide!

Great way to see parts of Chicago

My boyfriend and I decided to head to Chicago for a get-away from NC. I noticed a lot of good reviews for the two food tours this particular company does, and decided to get tickets on a day we had nothing planned. It turned out to be a fun experience, and we got to see/eat at places we probably wouldn't have gone to on our own. Our tour guide was knowledgable, and the places we stopped were all great in their own respect! Would definately recommend it to others!

The best part of the tour was our guide, Carolyn. She shared a lot of architectural information along the way, which helped our long walk go by faster. I would not recommend the catering and chocolate place, though. And I wish there were more stops on the way from the oil stop to the pizza stop, too long!

My wife and I had a great time on the food tour. The guide was delightful. The 7 food stops were excellent choices - places that we would not otherwise have discovered. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed this walking and cultural tour. Our tour guide, Nikki, was warm, friendly and knowledgeable - she made the tour all the more interesting. I have recommended this tour to all my friends and look forward to doing the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour next time!

Great Experience for Chicago Visitor

This was a very worthwhile experience. The amount of walking was reasonable, unexpected information about the city and the neighborhoods was well received, and the guide was very enthusiatic and capable. My one criticism, and not a major one, is that the promotion of the sights visited needs to be toned down. The tour itself promotes the locations visited, and talking about coming back to patronize the merchants is unnecessary and distracting.

We loved it!

This was a great activity -- so much fun and so informative. We discovered some great places to dine and to shop for food in Chicago, and we learned a lot about various things. Our two favorite stops on the trip were the olive oil shop (incredible!! Be sure to try the 18-yr-old balsamic vinegar) and the spice shop (fabulous blends). We can't wait to take the other food tour.

My husband and I both agree that the North Chicago food tour was the highlight of our trip to Chicago! Our only regret is that we didn't have time to take the other food tour.

A great way to taste your way through Chicago!

My husband and I took the Near North tour Sept. 6 as part of an anniversary trip to Chicago. We both loved every stop -- there's definitely something for everyone. In addition to the great food, we walked through three Chicago neighborhoods we wouldn't have otherwise experienced. Our guide Jen was great to tell us not only about the restaurants and shops we visited, but about the sights we passed and the history of Chicago. Great tour, and great food!

Loved our guide, Jennifer, who was both informative and entertaining. I had always heard about what a great food town that Chicago was, but would not have really known if we had not taken this tour! The variety of shops and restaurants was excellent and the tour of local neighborhoods on foot gave us a unique perspective. Looking forward to our next visit and another area.

Overall, I thought this was a great tour
Sun, Sep 6, 09   11:00 AM Mamabear Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We went on a Sunday, which turned out to be a great time because there wasn't a lot of traffic or other shoppers in the places we were visiting. Jennifer was our tour guide and she was AWESOME!! I highly recommend her. Very upbeat, positive, and genuinely enjoyed her job, which is refreshing. I liked all the places we visited. The deli sandwich was delicious, the tea was good and I enjoyed learning about all of the spices and oils. The toffee we had at the Fudge Pot was a definite highlight. We also enjoyed the pizza at the end. Our walks through the different neighborhoods was very interesting because we probably wouldn't have known about those neighborhoods had we not gone on the tour. My only recommendation would be to take out the catering-chocolate part of the tour. It was extremely crowded in there and the person working behind the counter was not friendly (actually had a scowl on his face). It would be nice if some of these places had a set up where we could "sit and eat" like at the pizza place at the end. All in all, very fun and informative. Jennifer was a great tour guide and we learned a lot!!

Great tour guide on Sat 09/5/2009

This was recommended by trip advisor and as always was a home run. The tour guide was very informative and engaging. You won't gain weight on this tour because there is a lot of walking. You will not get full on the tour, the food is more like tastings. And a lot of the tour was to a spice shop and an oil shop with no food at all. But there were great products and very unique items I had never seen before. So there are plenty of shopping opportunities. The tour is a great way to visit a side of Chicago many visitors rarely get to see(Gold Coast). I highly recommend it for visitors and locals alike. Also, the folks on the tour were great. We had some funny folks that kept me laughing. Don't miss on seeing the 25 million dollar house near Oz park. The house is so big it looks like a school. By the way there is a Mexican restaurant that is not a part of the tour, but the food looks great, they make the guacamole' fresh at your table. Plan on eating there!
