My mom and I had a wonderful time on a beautiful day. Jes was a fun and informative tour guide. Plenty of delicious food. I had such fun anticipating each stop. I will try to do the Bucktowm tour next. Thank you!

Great Day in Chicago

My first trip to Chicago, can't wait to go back. I was glad I found BWP Food Tasting Tour. What a great time I had touring and eating. The guide was very informative about the area. The food was entirely too much, but I seem to totally enjoy all of it especially the pizza and icream. The experience was low keyed and very relaxing, walking around the neighborhood, with a small group of people checking out the Bucktown community. Great place to visit.

A new way of looking at a city.

I love these kinds of tours that take you through the "flavors" of a city. They are fun, cultural and generally a little off the beat and path of the "regular" kinds of tours. People aren't expecting to walk, talk, eat and enjoy! Our group of 6 loved it and would absolutely do it again. They were wondering if their home cities had such a thing so I gave them the website to inquire. Thanks Shayne, for a fantastic afternoon!!

Our guide was Martha and she was friendly and knowledgeable. Very good stops, lots of interesting information at the tasting locations and along the walk. The food was excellent. Toured with my 20 and 25 year old sons. We all loved it.

I loved the mix of food eating and education, and the historical/ architectural facts given as you walk through old neighborhoods on this tour. Ariana was a delightful and knowledgable tour guide who really made the tour fun and interesting.

This was our second food tour in Chicago and we can't wait to come back next year and do a third! Our tour guide, Kent, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and provided interesting narrative. The food was outstanding with generous portions. We were stuffed!

Kent led a great tour beginning at a delicious jewish deli followed by a stop at a gourmet tea shop. It was a nice pace, the explanations of the food were very thoughtful and informative. I especially enjoyed the next two stops which were a spice shop and an olive oil/vinegar specialty store. I could have done without the stop at the fudge store. It was unremarkable as was the polish bakery. However, I did really enjoy the perogi (could have passed on the cookies and had another perogi!!) The walking sections were scenic and Kent had some great anecdotes about the houses/architecture. It was a nice addition to the food facts/tastings. The last stop was for deep dish pizza which I enjoyed trying but I don't ever need to eat it again...too excessive. I'll take a thin crust any day. I regretted that this tour did not expose us to the famed Chicago Popcorn and Hotdogs. Overall I would highly recommend this tour though it has room for improvement and I thought Kent was GREAT!!!

Our guide Jessie was a doll! She had so much energy and personality. I am so glad they give you a guide (which included coupons for going back to the stores) to show you where we were going - we needed it to find our way back - LOL. You start out with a great sandwich (the marble rye was amazing!) then nibble and sip your way until you get to the best stuffed pizza ever. Thought at first no meat would mean blah - I was wrong! Cheesy tastiness!!! You guys asked me if there were any allergies when I booked and I do have them. I did not miss out on any part of noshing on the tour. The place that I could not eat at gave me a candy apple instead. I was 10 again :) It was good to see the rest of the Chicago area and see where real people eat and of course the wonderful and sometimes strange architecture. And the walk wasn't that bad, didn't even realize we had been at it for the 3 hours. Want to go back to those areas and want to do another tour. We HIGHLY recommend.

Save your money.

I was disappointed in the tour. It was a lot of walking and not much eating. I thought we would be eating something at every place. One place was a spice place and you could taste the spices but to me that is not eating. There was an oil/vinegar place where we again got to taste but that is not eating. If we wanted anything to drink you had to purchase it along the way. We paid $42 for the tour and still had to go eat after because we were still hungry. There was also no time for a bathroom break until 2 hours into the trip. You could improve the tour by doing the following: giving an echo friendly bag at the beginning of the tour with a bottle of water and coupons to the tour stops; allowing purchases at the stops (I don't see how the businesses are benefiting if we cannot make purchases); at the spice and oil stores give away a small sample for us to take home; and a little less stopping to talk about the architecture.

Unique and fun experience

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our tour with Jennifer. She was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we learned a lot of things about the foods we tried that we didn't know before. It was a great way to get to see the local neighborhoods and architecture and to support the local businesses, which all had fantastic and amazing varieties of items we had never heard of. We had a lot of fun checking out the different buildings and homes, including the Playboy mansion. It is a good way to meet new people, tourists and non tourists alike. The time just flew by. You can tell that someone went to great lengths to make the tour a positive experience, even down to the bathroom stops. It ends just a couple of blocks from the Armitage brown line stop, so it's easy to travel back to the downtown loop or back to the beginning of the tour. Very clear instructions are given to us at the start, with all the stops listed on the handout as well as a map. We highly recommend this tour.

This was a very fun and informative tour. My husband commented that it was much more than he expected. Our tour leader, Jess, was great and very knowledgeable. Out of our six day vacation, this food tour was one of our favorite things we did.

i almost felt bad that i was making my nieces (16 & 18) do this with me. it did not take long to see that they were really interested and enjoying our tour guide, nikki. i loved the shops we went to. each one was unique and interesting. most of all, the knowledge that nikki shared, the history of chicago that she shared with us was so invaluable. there is so much we learned from her. my nieces raved about the tour! i only wish we had had the opportunity to do it right when we arrived in chicago -- so we could have gone back to the stores to do some major shopping!!!

I really felt like this tour gave me a good look at a Chicago neighborhood. I was in town for a convention and only had a few hours, and this tour provided some nice structure to my free time. Next time I'm in Chicago I'll do the Cinatown tour. Jess was a great tour guide.

My husband and I recently went on the Bucktown/Wickertown food tour on our first visit to Chicago. We both thoroughly enjoyed it! Plenty of food (more than I could actually eat, but my husband managed) and a great walk through the towns. Our guide, Lisa, was great - very interesting to listen to about the history of the area and the architectural styles of the homes. I would highly recommend this tour!
