Loved it!!

I can't say enough about how much fun we had on this walking tour. The portions were large, the variety was nice, and the guide, Kent, was pleasant and informative. I'm still thinking about the drink we sampled at Hot Chocolate (my favorite stop).

Our tour guide was terrific...knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We thought the food would just be a tasting, but it was lunch and more. The food was excellent. In addition, we all enjoyed the tour of the neighborhood. We would all highly recommend it.

The North End tour was great! Jesse is an awesome tour guide she knew the places we were going and the people that we were talking too. She added great local information about the architecture and the local history. I would recommend this trip to anyone!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour!! It exceeded our expectations and our guide, Jennifer, could not have been more entertaining nor more professional. Other than the catering business, each stop provided us with fascinating information and taste treats. We enjoyed walking through the three neighborhoods and would recommend this to anyone. Our group was very mixed---ages, foreign/domestic travelers---and it appeared everyone was enthralled. Thank you for the terrific time! JBE/San Francisco

Great walking tour! Informative and fun!

Jen was a fantastic guide. She offered us a peek into the city that we would have not seen had we done any other tour. The walking was just the right amount, it was timed to perfection (including a bathroom break!) and all of the tastings were delicious. This walking tour gives you a glimpse into the Chicagoan neighborhoods, you can get an idea of what it's really like to live there and not experience just the tourist side of being downtown. Jen was very knowledgable, she pointed out many things to us during the walk, and she offered lot of tips on places to go, eat, shop, hang out, etc. She obviously knows the city very well and shares it quite honestly.

Absolutely Wonderful

All I can say is "WOW" !!! This was the very first thing that we did on our vacation to visit Chicago and what a way to start. Our tour guide Nikki was really great. Our group was small and it was all very intimate. We learned a lot about the city as well as seeing places and going into stores that we would not have ever seen anywhere else. We travelled all the way from Bermuda and if we ever get back to Chicago we would most definitely take the Wicker Park tour. This is something you MUST do when you visit Chicago, it is well worth it.

We come to Chicago every summer from Tampa. Last year we took the Gold Coast tour and enjoyed it very much. This year we took the Bucktown/WickerPark tour. Our tour Guide was Kent, he was the same guide on our tour last year. This was another area that we have never explored. This tour has more food and it fills you up early in the tour, before you do most of the walking. It would be nice if the food was spread out some more on the tour, however due to the layout i understand this would not work out well. If you eat breakfast before you go, be sure to eat early! Great variety of food and beverages. Look forward to another tour next year....hopefully they will develop another tour quickly! Great job!

Not for me

Unfortunately I though this tour was pretty average. I am not a big eater yet there was definitely not enough food on this tour for the price you pay. I took a similar tour that provided more than double the amount of food. The tour guide was average and not genuine although she tried. The highlights of the tour were the chocolate, it was delicious. The oils were nice (and excellent quality) but no bread was provided which is just strange. Who tries oil straight up? Same with the spices, putting cinnamon on my hand, no matter how good the quality is and then licking it is not for me sorry. I am a foodie and maybe if I wasn't then I would have enjoyed this tour more. The pizza at the end was nice but tasted more like a quiche. The definite highlight of the tour was the architecture. Seeing different neighbourhoods that a normal visitor probably would not see was fantastic. I don’t know why some tours get so obvious when they hit you up for the tip at the end of the tour. There is nothing wrong with mentioning at the end that tips are appreciated but when you get a “let me personally say good bye to each and every one of you” even after she has already individually spoken to each us at the end is just obvious and not appreciated.

the best part of our chicago trip!!

My boyfriend and I were in Chicago for a week and we did eeeevery tourist thing possible--shedd aquarium, adler's planetarium, field museum, sear's tower, handcock observatory, architectural cruise, etc....but the food tour was the BEST!! The tour is perfectly designed to include interesting facts, delicious food, and the opportunity to leisurely walk some of it off while we toured the neighborhood. =) Kent was AWESOME. He lives in the area, loves the area, and has no problem showing us tourists around and sharing all of the local secrets. A good tour guide definitely makes the experience. It was raining and we still had a great time. Don't forget to tip him...he deserves it!! The food portions were INSANE. I had to take some of the "samples" home in my purse! The first stop was a full-sized hot dog with all of the fixings (chicago-style). Then we got a full-sized chocolate drink with homemade marshmallows, some pasta salad, a huge slice of pizza with beer, a huge falafel, and some ice cream!! We didn't even eat dinner that night (and my boyfriend can EAT)!! Another great surprise was that we all got coupons to the places we visited (to be used after the tour). Right when we finished the tour, my boyfriend and I backtracked and bought goodies for gifts and ourselves. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour to anybody who wants to try some great food and something different from the typical tourist activities.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, great food, very interesting facts about the neighborhood and people. We did this as a getaway with our 18 yr old daughter before she leaves for college and we had a wonderful time. Nice way to learn more about Chicago other than the Magnificent Mile.

Bucktown/Wicker Park Food Tour Review
Tue, Aug 25  12:00 PM wongkat Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
This was a great tour. I rarely do tours as I normally would research places I visit and explore on my own. With this tour, even though the places visited were listed and I could have easily visited on my own, I really enjoyed the non-food parts of exploring the neighborhood and learning the history of some of the homes and buildings on the route. I would not have gotten so much out of this neighborhood if I had not taken this tour. Equally helpful was the listing of recommended restaurants that was given out with the tour. The only stop that I would recommend the tour replace is the visit and tasting at Piece Pizza. Pizza was not that good.

Great way to learn about a neighborhood or part of Chicago that you might not see otherwise! Very diverse restaurants / food stops on the tour that were quite yummy and quite filling! Only suggestion would be to bring your own water bottle!

Went Back to Almost Every Shop to Make a Purchase!

My wife and I were spending a week in Lake Geneva, and had planned for a day in Chicago which included this tour. We'd rank ourselves as pretty big foodies, and were very intrigued by the description and reviews of this tour. Our tour guide, Arianna, was wonderful - very well-informed, enthusiastic, and full of fun and relevant trivia to fill the walks between stores. The stores were very well chosen, and tastings well-planned and spaced out. Also, the weather was beautiful - so thank you for working that out, too! After the tour, we returned to four of the seven stops to make purchases, taking advantages of the coupons given to us during the tour. We'd recommend this tour to all of our friends, without hesitation, and will definitely check out their other one if we're back in town. Thanks again to Arianna and the rest of Chicago Food Planet for an wonderful experience!

I really liked the tour, very informative. The tour guide Adriana (sp) was fantastic!! We did stop at this chocolate and catering ..Jay was the owner..he seemed to be annoyed that we were there. I know that he is busy but just to say Hi was too much for him. If he does not want people there then take him off the tour. The pizza place was kind of far off the path but excellent pizza. I would tell anyone to go on this tour, in fact we would come down again and try the other tour available.
