Excellent!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour - it was different, fun and informative and our guide Nicki was awesome! After the tour we went back to at least 3 of the stores to purchase their products. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and especially those with an interest in food. We went to neighbourhoods in Chicago that we never would have visited if not for this tour.

Lots of fun! The stops were very enjoyable. We went back to several of them. The tour guide was very informative and friendly. We would definitely recommend this.

Touring the tea house, spice shop and oil/vinegar shop were the three highlights of the food portion on this tour. The pairing of Chicago history while strolling through Lincoln Park, Olde Towne, the Gold Coast, etc. made the tour far superior to just a "Food tour". Our guide was a pleasure and kept the group moving when required. My wife and I would recommend this tour to anyone. Have a good breakfast that morning and wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy!

I was on an annual "sisters' trip." Our tour guide was Jennifer. It was obvious how much she enjoys her "job." She was very enthusiastic and a wealth of information. She was one of those people you envy - seemed truly happy and excited about what she was doing. The places included in the tour offered a good variety of food/tastes. The walking justified the eating! The walk was at a comfortable pace. What a great way to spend a morning/afternoon. I would highly recommend the activity to any "foodie."

Fun, Friendly Tour Of Tasty Chicago Neighborhoods
Fri, Jun 27  11:00 AM hwcrowell Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Jennifer was our tour guide and was well spoken, informative, friendly and helpful. We were traveling with two teens that enjoyed the tour as much as their parents. The stops made were diverse and certainly off the beaten path! The latkes were a delicious way to start and coat our tummies before we got to eat anything else substantial. We wanted a few more minutes to taste more of those oils and vinegars - an activity we don't get to do very often. The tea shop stop was quite educational and offered a nice cold tea on a warm morning, and it's proximity to the starting point allowed us to return for a purchase. The two chocolate places might be considered redundant but we are chocolate lovers and found the establishments far enough apart on the tour and different enough to legitimize two of them... without guilt! It's a lot of territory to walk, which worked fine for our group, but you might need to remind folks of the distance covered and we all had on flip flop sandals without any issues (which were not recommended). Our family had eaten Chicago pizza the night before the tour and realized there are lots of styles of C.P. that are fabulous! The timing of that stop was just right for our group (we had 11am). It was a good take! We stayed at a B & B in Oak Park (Harvey House- which we also recommend) that we suggested to them to send guests your way.... you might want to invite some of the innkeepers such as these to take a tour on you so they are truly familiar with it (as well as offer them some new vendors to use at their establishments!) It would be a win-win.

Recommended for Local & Out of Towners Alike!

Two girlfriends and I wanted to do something a "little different" than we normally do for a girl's day out. So we found the Chicago Food Tour. Since we LOVE food and wanted to do something in the city--it was perfect. We loved the tour, our guide was incredible--lots of energy and information along the walk. The tasters were enough to fill us by the time we were through. We had gotten some architectural facts, history, laughs, got to know our local neighborhoods, some exercise and had a lot of fun. Would highly recommend it to locals & out of towners alike! Thank you!

Food, architecture and educational!
Fri, Jun 27  11:00 AM Irun26 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Not only do you walk by a number of places to try different foods and learn about them including oils, vinegars, spices, pizza, and such, but go by a number of neighborhoods with old architecture including the originalPlayboy mansion and learn about many of today's homes. I enjoyed myself much more than I had anticipated and would highly recommend it to anyone. The amount of people is small enough to be intimate but not too small making one feel uncomfortable. For the price it is well worth the dollar.

What a great way to see Chicago!

Myself and my 2 teenage kids took this tour on an 87º degree day. While we were on the hot side, going in and out of places put us out of any misery we might have had. Our tour guide was enthusiastic (thankfully not OTT) and very informative about the surrounding neighborhoods. The places that were chosen to visit were places that you would never visit as a tourist because they are out of the way. The food was great and I won't devulge anymore because it is important to keep the mystery, but I will say everyone on the tour enjoyed it immensely - even my two teens. I will be ordering on-line to 1 or 2 of the shops for myself and as presents. I would also recommend this tour to anyone living in Chicago that never has the time to visit the Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park areas. It really was a great way to spend the half day!

Thoroughly enjoyable.

This tour was a pleasant surprise, and I would not hesitate to repeat it with others. We visited some truly unique shops; some I might otherwise never have known were there. The pace was perfect, the tastings were delicious, and the descriptions of local architecture and history added a nice touch that completed the experience. Local shop owners were most welcoming, and more than one talked about their merchandise in enough detail that I was able to gain quite a bit of education.

A very tasteful way to visit several local neighborhoods and really unique eateries. I particularly enjoyed the enthusiam of my guide Kent, and the detail he gave about the local history and specifically about the architecture of many of the buildings we passed. Carolyn

Mostly full-sized "tastes"; wide variety of things to sample (oil and spices to pizza); knowledgeable presentations at various stops; architectural tidbits while walking; we even saw them building sets for an upcoming Johnny Depp movie!

Awesome tour of the north neighborhoods!
Mon, Jun 23  11:30 AM queenieb21 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I really enjoyed this tour. I visited Chicago once before, but my husband and I had explored the areas of the Loop and the museum districts on our own. I was on my own in Chicago this time and decided to take this tour up in the Northern Neighborhoods of the Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park. It was amazing! I went back to half of the stops and bought merchandise because the shops were so cool! I will take my husband on this tour the next time we are in Chi-town.
