| This is a great tour and an excellent way to start a Chicago trip. Wicker Park and Bucktown are a "Real" neighborhood, not like Navy Pier or Michigan Avenue. We wanted to see local living. In other words, eating at the TGI Friday's in Chicago is pretty much the same as eating at the one in Amarillo. My nephews (ages 13 & 15) vetoed any "museums", but I wanted them to get something more than shopping out of their first trip to Chicago. As suburbanites, we wanted to show them what it would be like to live in Chicago proper. This tour does that and gives you recommendations for about 20 great local spots. Take the tour at the begining of your trip and you will have meal options for the rest of the time. The food on the tour was nice. The boys are a little picky and brushed off some of the toppings, but each had a favorite item. The guides were very knowledgable and informative about the history of Bucktown and Wicker Park. They walked us through the rise and fall of the area. The construction/architecture, social ebb and flow, artists input..... just a fascinating walking history lesson with snacks! We recommended it to all our friends in Chicago and the family that couldn't make it. We only stopped at six places, but the descriptions of the local places had me eager to come back for a sit down meal. My family is not "foodies", but we still loved it. And if you are a foodie, I know you will. | ||||||

| Tour leader, Jenny, knew her onions. The visits to the various food establishments added an unusual bent to a walking tour of an interesting district and the choice of these outlets was ideal. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Rosie | ||||||

| This was by far, the best tour of Chicago, that I had went on . Lively , intelligent tour guide, and with a sense of humor too! Our guide was very informative on the sites that we stopped at, the products that were being sampled, and also the history of the different sections of the town that we were in. I would highly reccomend this to anyone. It really was the best. | ||||||

| We've lived in Chicago for about a year, but haven't spent much time exploring other neighborhoods. We really enjoyed having a guide take us through and give us tid-bits about the neighborhoods we walked through, and enjoyed tasting some of Chicago's best- we'll be heading back to several of the spots on the tour that weren't on our radar. | ||||||

More Diversity!

| I really enjoyed the tour! In fact, I think I had better rapport with my tour guide (Shane) than my date! My only recommendation I am offering to improve the tour would be to include more diversity. Even though Shane talked about how diverse Chicago is, we didn't really hit any ethnic specialties with regard to food tastings. I know that there are food items that are universally liked even to someone who has never had ethnic food before. Also, ok we get it-- Chicago is the chocolate capital. We began at Ghirardelli. As someone from San Francisco, I believe that is where it all began with Ghirardelli. (Of course, I don't have cold, hard facts on that, but I'm pretty sure.) But this could be an area where you substitute an ethnic food instead. While non-european immigrant history is much more recent, it is still just as vibrant in Chicago and would be a great addition to the tour. On the whole, I thought it was very well done and left me with a lot of great information about the city's architecture, culture, flavor, and spirit of the city. Thanks for a great day! | ||||||

| My husband and I spent the day downtown for his birthday and went on the Near North tour. Our tour guide was Nicki. She was great. We enjoyed every aspect of the tour. The food tastings and the restaurants/stores that we toured were all interesting and very good. We learned a lot about different oils, spices and also some of the architecture of Chicago. Even though we live in a suburb of Chicago we felt like we were on vacation for a day. My husband loved his birthday gift and we already and will continue to recommend this to others. The tour was a little over 3 hrs long and there's no need to worry about lunch since they fill you up. I will definately be doing the other tour (Bucktown area) in the spring whenever we get a chance. | ||||||

| loved the tour...the places we went...the amount of walking was good, amount of food was great!!! i really enjoyed that we ended at the pizza place so we could sit. it was hard to eat the sandwiches at the deli...might have been easier if they were already made for us (i can hear the thought...but some might not like the dressing, etc....i would just have to counter that with the thought that most people taking a food tour are probably not the picky eaters)---and/or just have a quarter sandwich and maybe a small amount of something else???? anyways, my husband and i thought it was great!!! our guide was fabulous--enthusiastic and had lots of good tidbits of the area, etc...which was very nice. we took a food tour in new york and this was actually better!!! really liked having the piece of paper with the info of the places we went...and the coupons. we will definitely order online from at least the oil/balsamic place!!! | ||||||

| Wow! This is the BEST way to see Chicago and sample some very good things! Our tour guide, Nikki, was so enthusiastic, we could have just been happy talking with her. Her knowledge of history and landmarks made our first Chicago visit a really positive one. The foods were very good and we actually returned to three of the shops on the tour in the next two days to shop and eat. I liked the small group we were in (only 5) and the generous amount of snacking we were permitted. This is the perfect way to see the North Side. I highly recommend it. Out of the seven different things we did in the 5 days we were in Chicago, this tour was my wife's #2 rated after the play, WICKED, and my #3 after WICKED and a Segway tour. Wow! Why not Segway to the food shops! A great idea! BF from Chattanooga | ||||||
