A great way to spend a day !

We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour. It was well thought out in terms of the food that we sampled. We really enjoyed the fact that we had a chance to walk through some beautiful areas of Chicago. In many ways it is both an architecture tour and a food tour. The guide was very friendly and had a great knowledge of Chicago. For anyone who enjoys fine food in a fine city this is yout tour !

We had a wonderful time. The walk was easy and we were able to stroll along. I only wish we could have spent more time in each of the stores since they were all wonderful! LOVED the Spice place!

We had a great time on our tour! Our guide, Kate, was friendly and full of facts as she led us through the city. Everyone at each stop was so nice and helpful. A must do while visiting Chicago!

We had a wonderful time on this tour. We loved every single thing we ate, and found the tour a great addition to our week in Chicago. we hadn't heard of these two neighborhoods before. It was interesting to be out of the more touristed areas and into some real neighborhoods. Kent was a terrific guide--knowledgeable, fun, and clearly passionate about both food and his neighborhood. I highly recommend this tour. Great food, interesting history and architecture , and an excellent guide.

Great tour, but the devil is in the details

This was a fun and informative tour and I woul definitely recommend it to my friends. Problems arose at 2 of the stops though. At the Polish bakery, several people got perogies (sp) that were filled with water instead of filling (potato and cheese). If this is a normal occurrence when handmaking these wonderful treats, then extra should be made so that nobody misses out. Second, at the final stop, Bocinis, they offered a special of a flight of three beers on draft for $3 for participants in the tour. When I went upstairs afterward to purchase it, I was refused service because a party of 6 or 8 people had sat at tables in the bar area and the server said they were not going to honor the offer. Makes no sense to me, but a crappy way to end what was otherwise an enjoyable tour.

Perfect Way for Foodie to See Chicago

I was in town on business with a little more than 6 hours of free time and it was my first time ever in Chicago. I tried to think of the best way to explore and still get the local flavor as well. Kent lead our tour- which was the perfect blend of history, food, and unique stops- not too much food- but perfect for the food-minded individual. I would absolutely try the other tour next time I'm in town-which I hope will be sooner than later. Definitely would recommend this for first time visitors- and as I talked to a bunch of Chicago-ans, many of them weren't familiar with some of the places, so I'd think locals would love it too...and savor the Ashkenaz deli, which I thought was the best reuben I've ever tasted hands down.

Great tour, good variety of stops

The places we stopped at were not only local restaurants but local businesses as well, that as a tourist you would not think of going in. The tour guide was not only knowledgable in the specific stops but very knowledgable in the city's history as well. Every single stop was amazing! The sushi in Chicago was so delicious, something you would not expect in Chicago. I would highly recommend this tour and Kent as a tour guide!

Fantastic Near North Tour

My husband and I attended the near north tour with another couple while on vacation. We loved it. It was informative, fun, and yummy. We liked several of the places so much that we went back on another day and used coupons that we were given on the tour. Our favorite places were the Spice Merchant (with a huge variety of fresh spices and employees that could answer all our cooking questions) and the Fudge Pot (a fudge and chocolate shop with amazing toffee). It was a great experience and we will be attending the other food tour they offer when we return to Chicago.

Our guide was amazing and the spots we visited were educational, interesting and delicous! I went back to almost every spot after the tour and used my coupons. Great way to spend a gorgeous November day and see Chiccago for the first time. Guide was fantastic - did I mention that already? ; )

Tastings hit and miss, great tour for locals

A few of the stops were fantastic, while others seemed like a total waste of time. I liked the stops that had an educational component, either a demonstration or some interactive element. Overall, though, the tour was a lot of fun, very informative about the history of the area. Not what I expected at all. We went on the hottest day of the year, but it was tolerable since we made so many stops inside. I think locals will enjoy this tour even more than visitors, especially since they can come back and shop at these places. Visitors would probably prefer some more things that they would not try otherwise.

I highly recommend the Chicago Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour. It was so much fun to go around to shops and restaurants that are unique to Chicago and taste different foods and learn a little about Chicago's history on the way. I think my favorite part was getting to walk through residential neighborhoods that tourists wouldn't normally see and getting to see the beautiful architecture and learn a little about different neighborhoods and buildings. Of course, the food was fantastic too.

The whole tour was great! The guide was just wonderful, and you could tell that she really enjoyed giving the tour as much as we did taking the tour. She also gave us lots of information only someone with lots of time in the city would know. I would recomment this tour to anyone!!!!

Well worth the time.

You can only see so many buildings. To really get to know the culture of a city and what a city is about you have to venture off the beaten tourist path. For the less adventurous this is a safe way to see a different side of Chicago and experience what the food spots that the locals enjoy. The high light was Hot Chocolate with the fresh made marshmallows. It's not just hot chocolate it’s an altered state experience. It is certainly worth the time. I highly recommend this.
