Fun and informative

My adult daughter and I went to Chicago to visit my son who recently moved there. The three of us took the tour and I have to say, we ALL enjoyed it. The guide not only took us to the specified stops, but discussed changes in the history of Chicago and explained much of the architecture on the route. SO much better than a bus tour!

Disappointed in Food Selections

I enjoyed the tour in as much as the guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant and the neighborhoods visited were interesting. The tour group itself was friendly and enjoyable. I was a little disappointed in the food selections. I had hoped to get more of a feel of the cuisine of Chicago instead of spices, oils and vinegars and candy. The potato cake at the beginning was greasy (not a good choice) and the pizza at the end was cold and very dry; I think they could have made a better choice.

Food, history, architecture, culture all in one

My partner and I are food fans who enjoyed a previous Zerve tour of New York's Chinatown. The Chicago food tour was a great way to explore a less-touristy neighborhood with a knowledgeable local guide. Kent's patter, although a wee bit rehearsed, was entertaining and informative. I loved getting to know the Bucktown/Wicker Park neighborhoods and history, and the food choices were stunning -- especially Piece, Hot Chocolate, and the Middle Eastern deli falafel. I was delighted as we were led past the fancy homes and the not-yet-fancy fixer-uppers and even gawked at the outside of a (closed till dark) speakeasy. Kent was a delightful guide and I would have loved to take another tour with him. We had a wonderful time and delicious food!

Jessica provided lots of local insight into trendy places to eat, great cultural interest and kept the pace going so all were interested. Food was great...even the hot dog! We came back that night to a speak easy she recommended only shown by a light over the door..we would never had found it otherwise. Great fun for a couple or a group in town.

We had a fantastic time. The weather could not have been better and Heather our tour guide was friendly and informative. I highly recommend this tour. The food was sooo good and the neighborhood is beautiful. I also recommend you walking over to Lincoln park after the tour to continue walking off your food and to take in the beautiful sights. The Lincoln park zoo is free. Enjoy!

Great Way to see Chicago!

My husband, myself and my 16 year old son really enjoyed this tour. It offered a great variety in the different stops (tastings) we made and we found it enjoyable and interesting as well. It was a beautiful day so walking around Chicago was also a pleasure. We loved seeing the different neighborhoods of Chicago. It was very nice that we got to sit down at Bacino's Pizza to enjoy the pizza and rest a bit! Our tour guide (Emily) was very sweet and informative. The only negative comment I have is the last stop - Ethel's Chocolate Shop - I thought they could have offered a bit more than two tiny pieces of chocolate - perhaps a small cup of hot chocolate as well would have been nicer. Other than that, nothing negative to say at all! Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Chicago!

Fabulous activity for a family with older children

We were a bit worried that we wouldn't like the "olive oil" tastings and the spice shop. Those two ended up being our favorites of the day. All three of my children were fascinated!

This was one of the best activities I have done in Chicago! We enjoyed Kent's tour and all the delicious food! We can't wait to go back and try all these restaurants again. The neighborhood information was fun and interesting and it was great to meet people from all over North America.

Informative and Delicious

We so enjoyed doing the walking tour because it gave us a taste of different neighborhoods and lots of history of each area. Our guide was most excellent. She had great personality, and was such a gem. In fact, we told her she reminded us of "Rachel Ray", I believe her name was Rebecca. I would recommend this tour to anyone who could walk and stand for approximately 3 hours of the 3-1/2 hour tour. My only complaint would be that we weren't able to purchase items at the time of the tour, but other than that, we were so glad we made the decision to participate in this tour.

Lovely Experience

We had a wonderful time during our walk through some very beautiful parts of Chicago. We have been to Chicago many times in the past and never saw or experienced it this way. Fantastic time and Jess was great. Very knowledgeable and very cheerful. If you can request your guide, ask for Jess. The stops we made and the food tasting was just perfect. Well planned out. Tons of Walking but we love that. Even our 15 year son really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this tour well worth every penny. Susan from Toronto Canada

We are a group of women that travel together once a year. We love chocolate. Both the food and distance were traveled were perfect. We got to see a part of Chicago we probably would of never seen. We could not of asked for a better tour guide. She made everyone feel very comfortable. And she was full of information. Some of the women really don't walk to much and for them it was just perfect. Plus we learned alot about spices and oil and tea. I am the one that booked it and they gave me a gold star for the day. Sometimes it's hard to find things for us today that everybody can enjoy. I would highly recomend this tour. Sue Niebur Minnesota Traveler

We loved the diversity of shops/restaurants visits

My husband and I consider food a wonderful part of life...we love to try new things. This tour allowed us to do just that and get a bit of education, history, background on the foods, the shops, and the neighborhoods. Our guide was very energetic and helpful with lots of information and advice. We will use much of what we learned from her to make our next trip to Chicago even better - shows to see, restaurants to try, and shops to purchase specialty items not available in our region of the country. We highly recommend this food tasting tour! Bon apetit!!
