Educational and Fun

I highly recommend the tour. The price isn't bad...if you think about it, it is only $10 per hour...and that is good for Chicago. The quality of the tour probably depends on your tour guide. We had a girl, Jennifer, who was very energetic and entertaining. The food was enough to keep you full for lunch, but I recommend you eat a snack before joining the group...you don't get to the filling part until later. I enjoyed the "non-restaruant" locations...they gave me great gift ideas for the future.

Very informational with lots of surprises

the stops were wonderful....group leader (Emily) was excellent. Good intereaction between group members. The stops along the way were very interesting. I would do another tour in a heart beat. Tour indicated that there would be a focus on food...our group kind of expected to sample signature items from restaurants...ie famous onion ring recipe of buffalo wings etc. Only real food was a potatoe pancake and Heart Healthy pizza slice....the rest would be classified as taste offerings. I definitely left hungry and would have eaten breakfast prior to the tour if food was not emphasized. When asked which tour I wanted to go on , there really wasn't enough information to make an informed decision. May want to list the key stops in each neighborhood to allow potential guests to better match their interests. Thanks for a very good look at a side of Chicago that I would not have visited.

We LOVED this walking/tasting tour of Old Chicago!

We go to Chicago each year with another couple for the Wright-Walk (Frank Lloyd Wright) weekend. We also like to program enjoyable side trips. When we checked your 3-hour walk around Old Chicago (and its borders), we thought the tasting/cultural tour would be fun. We LOVED it, in large part because Jennifer, our tour leader was delightful: knowlegeable, full of life and a really pleasant person! Each stop, whether at a Jewish Deli, a chocolate maker---or a balsamic vinegar/olive oil importer's shop was informative and a tasty treat! We will make several purchases from home (NY) on the shops' internet sites. We enjoyed this tour so much that we are going to check out other offerings, both where we live and other parts of the USA which we visit during the year. Thanks you people for providing us with such a good time! Warm regards, Bob Port Washington, NY

Wonderful way to visit neighborhoods
Mon, May 19, 08   11:00 AM Vince10 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The food and beverage tastings were great, but the real value is in the visits to the different neighborhoods. Feel like we got a great feel for Chicago by walking through different areas. Our guide, Nikki, was wonderful. In addition to knowing a lot about the food and beverages we sampled, she knew a lot of the history and architecture of the areas we toured. Lots of walking, but well worth it. We ended up going back to some of the places we visited to shop later in the day.

I had pretty high expectation going into the tour and I'm happy to say that the actual tour was much better than my expectation. The tour gives good glimpse into different neighborhoods of Chicago and the foods were excellent. My only regret was not doing the tour at the beginning of my trip to Chicago. I learned about so many places I could have visited during my time there, so I recommend doing the tour early to give yourself enough time to visit these coold places on your own time.

all 6 in the group would do this again. most returned to many of the stores to shop. i think it would be a good idea to have a tour for kids.

The BEST tour in Chicago!
Fri, May 23, 08   11:00 AM kford2005 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This was by far the best guided tour I have been on. We went on a boat tour, bike tour, and this tour, and the food tour was my absolute favorite. It is a fantastic way to see the Chicago neighborhoods, and the company did a excellent job picking the restaurants and specialty shops to stop at along the way. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend the food tour to my friends and family.

Good choice, Mom!
Sat, May 24, 08   11:00 AM andiern Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My husband, daughter (26yo) and I were in Chicago for the two of them to attend separate conferences. As the Mom, I wanted to find an activity we could do and enjoy together. I found it in this tour! Both of them told me, after the fact, that they were skeptical about doing the tour, but afterward I got "high fives" and "good choice, Mom" from them. We visited unique stores and saw neighborhoods of Chicago which we probably never would have visited except for this tour. Our tour guide, Nickie, was enthusiastic and informative. She had interesting facts to share about the shops, houses and neighborhoods we visited. The tour was well worth the money, the time was surely well spent and the food samples were delicious!

A great way to spend an afternoon in Chicago

My friend (a local) and I (a visitor) had a wonderful time on the tour. The weather was perfect, all of the food stops were delicious, and our guide (Nicky) was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I would highly recommend this tour to both out of town visitors and Chicago locals. I also appreciated the coupons in the handout. After the tour, I went back to several of these business and bought gifts to take home to my family.

Interesting Neighborhood Eateries
Sat, May 24, 08   11:30 AM cchellis Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I enjoyed visiting the Chicago Neighborhoods and learning a little about the history of each. It was great getting away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown. Would like to have a few more eateries to go to - maybe 10-12 instead of 8 - and add some variety - such as Vietnamese, Spanish, Mediterranean. And I was surprised that we didn't have a Chicago hotdog!
