This was a fascinating way to learn about the city. The food was all DELICIOUS. I have been on many tours throughout several countires and this was one of the best. I wish there was time to shop at the venues--so many times tours are sales events disguised as educational tours--not this one. Still, I would have liked the time to buy some of the products. |

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Lauren was a great tour guide. Only thing I would suggest would be to include another beverage or two besides the tea. |

I googled food tours in Chicago and stumbled across this tour. My wife and I decided to book it and needless to say it was more than we had hoped for. Kent was a great tour guide, very enthusiastic about the area and the food. He also gave us great tips about other hot spots in the area. We also had so much food that we were stuffed. Overall I couldn't have been happier and my wife totally agreed. We're going to try another one next year. |

We had a really good time. We love to walk and love to eat so it was an outstanding combination! Oh yeah, and we also enjoy seeing the neighborhood culture. Our guide was fun, involved and very knowledgable. And the food was a really diverse and very good. A great way to spend an afternoon. |

I have now taken different out of town guests to both the Wicker Park/Bucktown and Near North food walking tours. Both are awesome - great tour guides, great food, a lot of history and great neighborhoods. I will say that there is a quite a bit more "substantial" eats on the Wicker Park tour so prepare yourself to be full! Great tours for locals and tourists alike. Can't recommend highly enough. |

Yes it is a Food Tour and yes there is food, and yes it was great food at each stop. But almost as important was the information that was given at each stop. Both my wife and I cook and the tour has changed the way we look at cooking, especially in the area of spices.
A great tour and lots of fun. |

Chicago and its divided neighborhoods is a city with profound and absorbing history we know less about and this was a nice chance to look and see details from its past as well as taste and sip portions of its heritage from quiant cafes and corner delis. A hospitable, warm, and brimful knock-on-the-door journey with a great, great local captain and navigator. |

Very interesting variety of shops and locations especially like the spice, tea and olive oil shops! Would like some more architecture but that is really a different tour. |

We enjoyed this tour immensely. Our guide Ariana was knowledegable, enthusiatic, highly personable and well organized. The stops and samplings were nicely varied. The information and walking route for Old town and Lincoln Park was great. There was more than enough food for lunch spread over three hours. The walk itself was paced in a way to provide excerise but not be exhausting. The hosts at each establishment visited were friendly and welcoming. All in all it was one of the highlights of our visit to Chicago. |

First time in Chicago and decided to check it out, because everyone talks about Chicago food. It turned out to be SO much more - great foods, unique and awesome new things to try, and packed full of facts about Chicago's history and landmarks. Great for first timers or long time residents!!!!! |

A tourist in your own home city

Ok, so with a recent move back to the Windy City, I've taken up the mantra that I'm going to take time out ever few months to be a tourist in my own home town. There's generally a reason why so many people flock to the tourist centers of cities. Generally there is fun stuff to do there, so I say, why not take advantage?
I was introduced to the Chicago Food Planet tours by my fiance. We took our parents on the Wicker Park/Bucktown tour (highly recommended), and immediately thereafter we were hooked on the Chicago Food Planet tours. Even when we originally went on that food tour our ambition was always to take the Near North tour because this tour is literally in our own back yard as we live in Old Town on Wells St.
This tour is so fantastic for both anyone visiting Chicago, but as a local, I highly recommend this tour! The tour was everything you would want--it was fun, informative and adventurous. The venues we visited were unique and special each in their own right, incredibly unique and as a local gave me a great sense of pride that such great, visionary places exist right here in my home town!
Now, while the shops and the history are all well and good, this tour is truly made special by the guides. Our guide, Nikki (home I'm spelling your name right!) was awesome. Her enthusiasm for the venues and being a part of that tour was truly awesome and really made the tour a blast.
As someone who has taken walking tours in many cities around the world, I can say that the Chicago Food Planet tour are top notch. They're a great way to spend an afternoon and learn about an area of the city that you might not otherwise get to visit.
I also learned that they are going to be expanding their offerings to include a new tour of Chicago's Chinatown, which I cannot wait to take. |

I took my wife and our two college-age kids on the Food and Cultural Tour on a delightful fall day. Our host Shane was gracious and knowledgeable, and we were pleased that the tour operators had planned ahead with vegan options for my daughter. It is hard to find outings that meet a wide range of interests, but this tour definitely had something for everyone in my family. The food is good and suprisingly filling. The tour of Lincoln Park was a highlight as we learned some interesting backstories about the architecture and the neighborhood. I heartily recommend this tour! |

Our group had a great time on the Wicker Park/Bucktown tour. We are all local, most living in the city. Yet we all thought it was a great way to spend 3 hours.
The food portions were plentiful and very good. Our tour guide had a great attitude and really knew a lot about the area. Walking around the neighborhoods between food stops definitely helped keep us from feeling too stuffed. Learning about the history and architecture was a nice bonus that I didn't expect. |
