Fun Afternoon on the Near North Food Tour
Tue, Oct 2, 12   11:00 AM susandc Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
What a fun way to spend a beautiful fall afternoon in Chicago-eating our way through the "Near North"! Jess was a wonderful guide-personable and very knowledgeable. The food was delicious-reuben sandwiches, deep dish pizza, fudge, and macaroons. Also, stopping to learn about tea, spices, oils, and vinegars was quite an education. Jess' culinary background, as well as her knowledge of the history of Chicago, in general, and the neighborhoods, specifically, made the tour even more meaningful. The tour was paced nicely with moderate amount of walking-even had time for restroom breaks. The 3 hours just flew by! Thanks, Jess, for a most enjoyable afternoon!

Our group recently went on the Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour...it was the highlight of our trip to Chicago. Our tour guide was very informative. We learned alot about Chicago and enjoyed great food. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Chicago. I'm looking forward to going on the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour on my next visit.

we had such a great time!

my friend and I took the tour thinking it would be just going from cafe to cafe however, it turned out to be much more... we walked through a wicker park neighbourhood where our tour guide Kent (i think) pointed out different houses and the history behind them, it was really fascinating..... he was very knowledgeable and fun, a true master working with people...he knew how to move us along without us feeling rushed... the cafes were ready for us, we had reserved tables everywhere we went so we could just sit and enjoy the food and surroundings... without a doubt we will book another tour with your company the next time we're in Chicago which may be in the spring Sue and Janice

Eat your way through the highlights of the Chicago

It was a different way to see Chicago. Any tour that involves food as part of the experience wins in my books. All the stops were great. Except for maybe the Catering Chocolates one. I didn't quite get why we were there. The chocolate, pizza, oil and tea were awesome and we went back a few days later to buy stuff from the stores to share with the family we were visiting with.

Single Woman Sings Praises

Traveling as a single woman, I enjoyed this tour very much. It was easy and comfortable to be a single in the group. The meeting location was easy to find and we were given good directions on how to get back after the tour. Our guide, Shane, was enthusiastic, humorous, and very knowledgable. He seemed to really enjoy giving the tour. I prefer walking tours over driving tours and this tour introduced me to neighborhoods I would never have seen on my own. I have a new appreciation for the city of Chicago. The food tastings were as described when I read about the tour online. The tastings were fun, but only part of the tour. I enjoyed and appreciated the comments on history, local life of the neighborhoods and communities, and the recommendations on restaurants. The pace was not rushed, yet it did not go too slow. The tour was advertised at taking 3 hours and ours took 3 1/2 hours. A friend who took the same tour the day before said her tour took closer to 4 hours. Our tour started at 2:00pm on Sunday. I would recommend taking an earlier tour to allow time to go back to the stores for shopping before they close.

Suggested tour for a family gathering in Chicago. Plenty of eats, interesting shops, great walking tour even in the rain! Looking forward to returning and experiencing the other two tours.

Great guide, so-so stops

Not all the restaurants met our expectations, specifically Lao Beijing. Our guide was well informed, cordial, and enthusiastic. Having organized the tour quite well, she producted a satisfying experience that was lacking only in the kind of food and service we experienced in Lao Beijing. I'd never go there again.

The food, walk, history, tour guide - everything was fantastic. I have told everyone I know how much we enjoyed doing this and I have recommended to everyone in or going to Chicago to try this out. It was one of the coolest activities that we have done while visiting Chicago. Loved it!

A highlight in our time in Chicago!

Our guide was delightful as she skillfully educated us as we walked the charming streets of this Chicago neighborhood. The food tastings were amazing at each stop on the tour. The most pleasant surprise was the olive oil store, which I had not expected to be so interesting or tasty. The diversity presented in the tastings made it a sure fit for everyone. The walking pace accommodated all parties in our group. What a great way to meet other visitors to the city! The atmosphere was casual and friendly throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this activity. In fact, I'll do it again next time I'm in town.

Great way to explore Chicago neighborhoods

My group thoroughly enjoyed your tour! We loved the uniqueness of the shops visited, as well as the educational component with the neighborhoods. Very well planned out with drinks and restroom breaks. Our guide, Jennifer, was very very good and really seemed to enjoy her job. We have already recommended this activity to several friends, and would be very interested if you decide to offer another one in a different neighborhood, ie Little Italy or Greektown, or Wrigleyville?

Awesome tour!!

We were trying to find something to do in Chicago besides shop and go to museums...after looking online, the Chicago Food Planet Tours showed up. I decided to try the Near North Shore Tour. It was myself and my two daughters, 17 and 15. Granted the weather was perfect so that helped. The pace of the tour, the amount of food, the places we went to sample, the length of time and the tour guide, Ariana, were perfect. Their rule of no shopping was a plus because then no one disrupted the tour or kept us from the next stop. We learned alot about the history of the homes and the architecture also...I am so looking forward to doing another tour and so are my daughters.

Wonderful walking tour!
Sun, May 20, 07   2:00 PM Susan56 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My husband and I had never gone on a tour such as this before, and we really did have a good time. There is a lot of walking, so wear a comfortable pair of shoes. Be prepared for any type of weather. We had our umbrella handy which was a good thing since it did start to rain part way through the tour. Our tour guide Sean, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was a very good tour guide to have. He was well spoken and tried very hard to keep us on schedule. I wish we could have spent just a bit more time at each stop, but then the tour would have gone on forever. My husband and I wanted to purchase a few items at every stop but we never had the time. Unfortunately, we were on a bus tour that left the next day, so we were unable to get back to the various locations to purchase anything. All in all we had a very good time! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone. We had about 12 people in our group, all different ages, from different States and a few of us from Canada. Go for it! You'll learn something and have fun doing it! And ask for Sean!
