Wonderful for Teens and Parents -Highly recommend

Finding great experiences for sometimes picky children can be a challenge. My 18 yr old son and 15 yr old daughter LOVED the tour!! Learning about the history of the North End,the amazing architecture, introductions to exotic teas, amazing aged balsamic vinegars, flavored olive oils, stuffed pizza, and a Ruben sandwich was the Perfect way to begin our first of many stays in Chicago. Ariana was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fun and charming. Can't wait to return and take your other tours. Really made the trip and was the prefect beginning to experience a great city. Recommend highly, something for everyone.

Great tour
Sat, Aug 1  1:00 PM kkaler Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Our group thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on this tour. Nikki, our guide, was outstanding. She was energetic, knowledgeable of the area and its history and architecture, and was very attentive to everyone on the tour. She casually chatted with everyone and was attentive to the needs of the group. Nikki put in the extra effort to ensure everyone on the tour had a great time. There was a nice variety of stops on this tour. Several places that on my own I probably would have walked right by, but am so glad we visited on the tour. I learned so much and went back to three of the stops after the tour to make purchases. Our group had taken the Bucktown tour earlier this summer and loved it, but didn't anticipate we could enjoy this one just as much. We were wrong. While the other tour provides you with probably a little more food, we still felt like we had some delicious, generous tastings. I learned more on this tour about the businesses and their wares. Both tours are truly fabulous. The only complaint we might have with this one is that the last stop on the tour is quite a distance from the rest. I won't even call it a criticism because we enjoyed OZ park and learned several interesting things along the way AND the food at the last stop makes it well worth the trip.

Needs more focus
Sat, Aug 1  12:30 PM marypros Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Tour needs to focus on food or history, not both. I went on an excellent tour of Boston's North End with a chef who explained Italian food and cooking, and I would have liked having a similar experience in Chicago. Likewise, I would have welcomed a more focused tour of historic homes and neighborhoods, rather than mere admiration for the lifestyles of the rich and famous that was presented to us. However, I did like the pace of the tour and the varied neighborhoods that we explored.

Wicker Park Tour a great experience

We joined the tour at George's Hot Dog (not sure if I have the name right) and spent a great 3 hours with our group and our tour guide Ben. At first the price seemed a little high but this is more than a walking tour. We had a nice array of tasty treats, a tour of the neighbourhood including commercial and residential areas, a sampling of typical Chicago architecture (small/local scale as opposed to the grandeur of downtown) and small doses of history mixed into our walk. In the end we felt it was very worthwhile and a good value. The Chicago hot dog, the chocolate drink with marshmallow (rated no 1 by our group) the antipasto treat, the falafel, the pizza and the ice cream were all great stops along the way and gave us a "taste of Chicago" and the neighbourhood. The pace was great, our tour guide friendly and informative (and a cool dude at that) and the time flew by as we toured the area, taking in shops, restaurants, homes, parks etc. The only thing to be concerned about is making sure you know where you are going when you head out to meet the group. We came from downtown and while we had no problem, it took some planning on our part and we left a little extra time which turned out to be needed. If you are looking for something different, a break from the hustle and bustle of downtown, and want to learn more about Chicago, take this tour. We highly recommend this leisurely walk and if we get back to Chicago, we would take another Chicago Foods tour without hesitation. Thanks Ben!

LOVED THIS TOUR!
Sat, Aug 1  11:00 AM andreadebs Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I had heard of this tour a couple of years ago and decided to do this specific activity to celebrate our anniversary. What a pleasant surprise to have such an enthusiastic guide (Jen) who was also extremely knowledgeable about the area. This included the history and architecture of the neighborhood as well as the food we were sampling. The food, by the way was very good. She explained how it was made, the people behind it, as well as offered us plenty to try. It was a very personalized tour. Jen wrote down lots of other places for us to try in her home town of Chicago, and just wouldn't let us go until all of our questions were answered. We would definitely do another food tour in Chicago or other places that this company offers them. What a secret treasure!!!! We will spread the news!

Great Tour

This tour was even better than anticipated. Our guide was personable, fun and very knowledgeable. The presentations were full of interesting facts and the food tastings at each place were delicious, more than adequate and made our entire group want to visit again to dine and/or shop. We also enjoyed the unexpected bonus of the architectural and historical information provided as we walked through several different neighborhoods. It was a great way to spend a day in the city with friends.

This was my second tour with the same great tourguide, Kent. He is so enthusiastic and a wealth of knowledge. He has a great sense of humor and makes the experience so much fun. The places where we ate were all 4 star to me. We learned alot about the area and it was relaxing and pressure-free. I can only say I would like more and more. I have told everyone who will listen about how much we enjoyed the 3 hours.

Great way to learn about this Chicago neighborhood

What a wonderful way to stroll the streets of this great Chicago neighborhood. The tour is very well organized and you won't be disappointed with the food samplings... they range from authentic Chicago to so unique they're hard to imagine. We have a part time place in River North and know that area but are not very familiar with Bucktown and Wicker Park. This was perfect for us. We returned the same evening for a excellent dinner at Cafe Absinthe and bar hopping afterwards. We'll take the other tour in the near future.

A great way to get out and see Chicago neighborhoods. Plenty of fabulous food and interesting architecture. A tour guide who was eager to please and full of information. I can truly say this was worth the money. Thank you for showing us another view of Chicago. We would never have seen many of these places on our own.

My husband and I loved the tour. Arianna, the tour director, was absolutely first rate. She was extremely knowledgable and very articulate. She was great; she added so much more to the tour. Would recommend this highly to anyone. Thanks for a very enjoyable tour. Sue and Paul Marino Wallingford, CT

Recently did the Bucktown food tour with a group of three women. Each one of us enjoyed it throughly. I thought the food portions were very plentiful, interesting and varied. The historical part of the tour was interesting and timed perfectly. I'd highly recommend the tour.

We had a really nice time. Our leader went out of his way to make sure everything went well for us in sitting in a restaurant, getting our food. he took us to some great places for food. I got a little bored with the architecure lesson but we couldn't go right from pizza and beer on to the next food. We did need to move around a little bit to get ready to eat again. We did learn alot about chicago history and architecture. The food choices were a lot of fun.

Fun way to experience Chicago
Tue, Jul 28  11:30 AM Colleen7 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour was an interesting and fun way to experience three Chicago neighborhoods. There was nice variety in the stops, food was great, and walking between stops was nice. Our tour guide was well informed, and did a great job of making the tour fun and interesting. I'd highly recommend the tour. My only criticism would be that the pizza on the last stop was too cheesy for us - but that's personal taste.
