Wow! This is the BEST way to see Chicago.

Wow! This is the BEST way to see Chicago and sample some very good things! Our tour guide, Nikki, was so enthusiastic, we could have just been happy talking with her. Her knowledge of history and landmarks made our first Chicago visit a really positive one. The foods were very good and we actually returned to three of the shops on the tour in the next two days to shop and eat. I liked the small group we were in (only 5) and the generous amount of snacking we were permitted. This is the perfect way to see the North Side. I highly recommend it. Out of the seven different things we did in the 5 days we were in Chicago, this tour was my wife's #2 rated after the play, WICKED, and my #3 after WICKED and a Segway tour. Wow! Why not Segway to the food shops! A great idea! BF from Chattanooga

I grew up in Chicago and signed up for the Food Tour to please my wife. It was rainy, and a lot of walking, but our guide Nicki made it a throughly enjoyable experience of new places in Chicago and new eateries. We hope the Chicago Food Planet will offer other neighborhood food tours, for our next visit to the Windy City from the South. We highly recommend the Norht Side tour we experienced, and commend our guide for her knowledge and good care of us.

Our Tour Guide Was Amazing

Our tour guide knew what she was talking about. She was experienced in her area having been a tour guide for 5+ years in Italy. She knew so much about Chicago and was able to share it with us. She was very personable and made me and my wife feel as if we were the only ones on the tour. I learned so much from her about Chicago and about the places that we stopped at on our tour. The foods were amazing but the entertainment was even better. At the end of the tour we mixed up our directions and ending up following the rest of the group to there stop when we need to go in the other directions. Our tour guidw was nice enough to take us in her car to catch the "L". She said she was going in that direction anyway but it was very helpful to us. Our tourguide more than made the tour and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour it was worth every penny i spent and them some.

My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. It was very informative and took us to places we would probably not have found on our own. The food was really interesting - and tasty but it was good have information given about other aspects of Chicago such as architecture.

Our guide was absolutely wonderful. He obviously enjoyed what he was doing and that added to the adventure. It was a delightful look into areas and neighborhoods that I would otherwise never venture to when I am in town. When I visit Chicago later is year I will be sure to visit many of the locations we passed on the tour.

Tad, our guide did a great job in keeping our interest with the sights along our trip from one location to another. The food tastings were a little sparse, but generally sufficient. The tour could have lasted another hour to give us opportunity to make purchases at the shops we stopped at. I would reccomend the tour to my friends and family.

Tad was a great tour guide. He had great incite into chicago. At every stop we felt very welcome and all food samples were great. Pizza was the best ever. We even had to walk back to a few places to make purchases. Have already recommended tour to friends traveling to chicago.

Guides were witty, informative, and seemed to enjoy the company of the group... food samples were terrific, enough to leave you satisfied after 3 hours of walking... great variety of food, and lots of fun overall.

Worth the walk

The tour was very good with knowledgable tour guide. The walk was much longer than anticipated as compared to simiar tours that I've taken in NYC. We knew up front that the start and end point were not the same, but did not realize exactly how far we would end up from the starting point. Some people in our tour group had to leave due to other plans and the distance to return back to the starting point. The food stops were fun and there was plenty of food at each stop. Again, I would definately recomend the tour. I only have two critisims and they are both related to the distance and route of the tour. I was unable to purchase items along the way (which was discouraged to keep things moving), but was unable to return to the shops later because of the how long it would take to retrace my steps. If you lived in Chicago this would be great, but for tourist like myself, I didn't have time to return to make the purchases I would have liked to have made. Bad for me and the shops that I am sure would have like the extra sales. The only other improvement I would suggest is maybe a little more info on small little resturants/cafes that I would not know about that are worth visiting. Learning about Mortans is fine, but it's harder to know about little cafes that come and go that might be really fun and good.

This 3 hour tour exceeded our expectations ... we got a chance to walk through several Chicago neighborhoods and truly admired the city landscapes ... the food was varied and our stops were well timed for a chance to rest ... our guide was exceptional ... he not only knew his stuff, he delivered his descriptions of the food sites, city parks and history with humor and flair.

My wife and I took the Chicago Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour on a cool, rainey, blustery day. In spite of this it was a totally enjoyable experience. The guide was upbeat, gracious and informative, as were the people at the food establishments where we stopped. We highly recommend the tour.

Tad was AWESOME!!

We had a wonderful time on our food tour. Tad, our insightful leader, was energetic and full of information. For his first tour, he did a awesome job. :-) He kept the flow of the tour moving along at a good pace and we never felt rushed. We can't wait to go on another tour of the city, although Tad has spoiled us. The food was great, the spots we stopped were fantastic and the weather, well...that just couldn't be beat!! Make sure you wear comfy shoes as a few of us had blisters by the end of the walk. But it was all worth it. We ended up going back to 2 of the shops (tea & spice) and have ordered online from Ethel's chocolates. We would have went back to more of them, but not being from the area and not having a cool place to keep the chocolates & cheese, we figured it would be easier to just order online. All the vendors were most generous with their samples so being a little hungry when you start is good. It would be a good idea to bring your own water as we did get a bit thirsty as we walked - - especially towards the end. As we were taking our tour, a couple of people came up and asked us about our tour and we told them it was good and gave them a brochures. :-) Keep up the good work! Hopefully we'll be able to do this in the next city we visit.
