A friend had reccomended this tour to us as a great way to get a real "taste" of Chicago. Our guide, Shane, was super from the start! He took us to several different restaurants, each with thier own great tasting food! He also pointed out intersting sights along the way that "non-residents" would not know about. This tour is a great way to get "out and about" in Chicago in a way that is fun and tasteful. The tour also allows you a chance to see more of Chicago than just the regular tourist sights. I would take this tour again the next time I visit Chicago and will reccomend this tour to ANYONE who is going to be visiting Chicago in the near future.

My wife and I had a wonderful. Shane was a very good tour guide with a pleasant personality. We enjoyed his explanation of the history of the areas through which we walked. The locations where we stopped to taste food were representative of the different types of food in Chicago. Shane made a comment on the walk about a man who made delicious cheeses. That might be considered for a stop. We would recommend the tour to anyone.

My wife loved it all. She was drawn to the comments about the architecture and enjoyed the food visits, especially the pizza and chocolate at the fudge place. (She is especially attracted to the city because she can see another of her dearest cousin's work: the bandshell at Millennium Park.) I share her enthuisiasm, however, I did find that the walk between "events" was a bit tedious and long without too much along the way to reccommend it. e.g. -we were shown a handsomely carved red door and told it was "the most photographed door in Chicago," we were not told why or what the door was about. Learning about the neighbourhoodfs was good - Lincoln Park., Gold Coast, Old Town - all worth the time. I was not sure about standing outside a restaurant and being told it was the best of whatever style of cooking it held. Good. But it might have been nice to step inside and experience why. On the other hand our guide was warm and entertaining and demonstrated what is most needed in a guide: enthusiasm for his subject. He really loves the city. Finally I would like to have travelled less and seen more. Someone please tell him what the Manodnack (I may have spelling it wrong) building is and why it is important to the understanding of why Chicago is the founder of American architecture. Finally, the upshot of the tour is that my wife can't wait to return to Chicago.

Very nice tour but don't come too hungry

Tour was good, well planned out and quite interesting. Very good guide. We are local but really like Chicago restaruants and food in general. Found some new places we will try, learned some new Chicago facts and had a good time. My only issue is that there is not enough actual food. Half way through the tour all we had was one very small tasting, a beverage and a peice of candy. They were all good, but we came hungry. If not for the pizza towards the end we would have had to go out to lunch afterward.

Different and Informative

Even though it was a very hot day with temperatures into the 100's (well it felt like it!) the tour was thoroughly enjoyable. Shane, our guide, was informative and entertaining as well as making sure that we were supplied frequently with cold water and trying to keep us in as much shade as possible. Even our thirteen year old granddaughter to whom all such learning experiences are "boooring", thoroughly enjoyed herself and couldn't stop talking about it when we returned to our hotel, and since our return to England. Please pass our thanks on to Shane and we would recommend both him and your tour unreservedly.

Shane, our Tour guide, was awesome!! This was the best tour that my wife and I took all weekend and we took 3 of them. Shane was knowledgeable on Chicago's history, facts, and food. It was great to get off Michigan Ave and other tourist venues for a few hours and enjoy Chicago's neighborhoods and attractions to see how the locals live. Also, food/drink we tasted was great and there was plenty of it for second and third helpings if you desired.

We loved the walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods and the shops that we visited. The clerks at the shops were very friendly. And we loved the wide variety of sample foods. One caveat: We knew ahead of time that the tour would not end where it began. BUT we had no idea how really far away it was to be. In our tour, we finished about 45 minutes away from where we started! PLUS we had to walk another 30-some minutes to get back to our parked car. By the end of the day we were VERY tired. It might be better if the tour could somehow be planned to end where it began.

The tour had the perfect balance of food tasting, walking, and unique cultural information from the tour guide. We both were pleasantly full by the end of the tour, had acquired interesting knowledge on that area of Chicago, got a good 2 mile (leisurely) walk in, and are definitely recommending the tour to all of our friends/family!
