Don't Miss This Tour!

Shane and company have planned a very fun tour that will delight all enthusiasts of food, architecture and walking. Jessie was a knowledgeable and cheery tour guide who taught us the insider's insights to the Chicago neighborhoods through which she led us. I, for one, came away with increased knowledge about parts of this great city, added appreciation for Chicago's culinary traditions, and some excellent souvenirs from Tea Geschwendner and Old Town Oil. I certainly plan to patronize the other businesses online, too! And during a future visit to Chicago, I'll be sure to take the other Chicago Food Planet tour. Thank you, Shane, Jessie, and all the merchants who made me such a happy tour participant!

My wife and I had a great time on the tour ... smallish group, great tastings, great stores ... a whole lotta fun. I'd recommend to anyone who appreciates good food ... and learning about it.

Absolutely loved this unique tour!

This tour provides not only great tastes of Chicago, but a wonderful overview of the history and culture of the Bucktown/Wicker Park area of Chicago, a lovely area away from the other tourist-filled attractions in the city. The food portions were extremely generous. I've been on food tours in other cities, and normally you just get a small bite -- here they give you full portions at most of the spots on the tour. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Experience

My wife and I agree that this tour was the highlight of our trip to Chicago. Our tour guide, Kent, never stopped talking. He shared his architectural knowledge, restaurant reviews, history of the neighborhoods and personal experiences with great ease. All of the food we had from the Chicago dogs, iced chocolate drink, pasta salad, pizza and beer, falafel, and ice cream was excellent and enough for lunch and dinner. You can expect that we will pass our praises onto everyone we know that plan to visit Chicago. Thanks and we will see you again. As an afterthought, when the weather is hot, you might want to suggest that people bring bottled water. We did, but others did not.

Such a great fun day

Our guide, Jen, was the most enthusiastic person, so upbeat and really knew the area. She was funny and light and had a wonderful rapport with the merchants we visited. Only one stop on the tour could have been eliminated. All the rest were great and for sure we had enough food to last the day.

Fun, Feast and Learn

We are legally blind from Michigan. We decided that this would be a fun tour for the two of us and it was! Our tour guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the area and just plain fun. We learned the history of the area while eating our way through three plus hours. The tour description was accurate about there being plenty to eat . The restaurant and grocery/deli choices were varied. We met owners and learned how they started their businesses. We were taken on a walk through quiet streets where a brief lesson on architectural design was given. The houses were beautiful. We walked in Wicker Park.. We highly recommend this tour for adults. If you hesitate because it is a walking tour...don't...we did it without a problem.

The Near North Tour was so informative and fun. Our tour guide Kate was AMAZING. She was so personable and articulate, guiding us along the sunny streets of chicago. I have lived here in the city for almost five years and was delighted to discover many new sights and tastes!

great experience as a local

I'm a local, and really into food in general. We didn't really eat that much on the tour, but I really enjoyed the little shops we went to, ones we pass by often as locals but never go into. I would say that the food part wasn't that exciting, but the overall experience was nice.

I would not recommend this tour unless you enjoy being treated like a first grader. The tour guide is rude. I do not need to be told where to stand or told not to block a door or how loud to talk. I think an adult could handle this without being told several times by the tour guide. This guide needs to be instructed on how to treat customers with courtesy and respect.

It was a very good experience and I strongly recomend it to someone who is visiting chicago for the first time, just moved here, living here but never really explored the city before.. It is a good weekend thing to do! plus you get to know the history of the dowtown (which is quite interesting) from the very enthusiastic and well read tour guides. Also, we got a bunch of cupons for some really interesting stores in the downtown...makes you wanna go there again:) That was money well spent!!

Fun tour - even for locals

This tour was comprised of a great combination of stores and restaurants - we learned a little something about different foods, spices and oils and got to sample everything too! Plus, we learned a little history about each of the neighborhoods we visited along the way - Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was very energetic and knowledgable about the food we sampled and the history of the neighborhoods. Well worth it - even for a local like me!!!

The ONLY negative that I can say is that my wife liked the oil & spice shops so much that we went back and spent a bunch of $$.

Our guide, Jennifer, did a great job! My fiance and I enjoyed the tour very much! The weather on the day of our tour was terrible, but we still loved it... now that says a lot.
