Fun way to experience a city
Sat, Jul 7, 12   11:30 AM Jenns173 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My mom and I took this tour during a weekend in Chicago. I live in Atlanta and she lives in Indiana but we have both been to Chicago several times. This was a fun easy way for us to experience a part of the city we had never been to before. Having gone to all the typical tourist spots on our first trip, its easy to run out of things to do because you don't know where to go. We easily could have gone to Wicker Park by ourselves, but we wouldn't have gotten the same thing out of it. Our group was 15 adults, from Iowa, Canada, Finalnd and even Chicago residents. Our guide Kent took us through Bucktown and Wicker Park, detailing the history and showing the places that have become national sensations, both historical and new. He also tried to talk to each pair or group of people between stops, and had something to say to everyone, including stories about their hometowns, most of which he had been to. Everything on the tour was good, even though I learned falafels are not my favorite. I definitely feel I got more than I bargained for at each location, and my mom and I enjoyed going to places we wouldn't have otherwise known about. It might seem like a really touristy thing to do, and maybe it is, but it was better than any tourist attraction you'll find downtown.

This is the second review I have gone on with Chicago Food Planet and I have been fantastically pleased with both of them. The Bucktown/Wicker Park area of Chicago is beautiful and is like a different world from downtown. Learning about its history while eating some of the most delicious food was an experience I won't forget. The tour guide (Kent) was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable and every stop provided exotic, delicious, and second-visit worthy food. I would go on this tour again very soon. I would love to see more tours offered in other parts of the city!!

Kent was our tour guide and did a good job. I had been on the tour previously and wanted my 4 friends to join me. They were very happy with the tour, the pace, enough stops and enough to eat. It was so nice to see another part of Chicago besides downtown. Thanks for the tours you provide. Love them!

My husband and I did the Near North Food Tour and enjoyed it very much. Our guide was friendly and informative about both the food and the sites. Each stop along the way gave a nice "sample" of what they had to offer and we left feeling full, but not too stuffed to still walk around. I did not feel rushed, but I wish we could have spend a little more time at each of the stops. We look forward to trying out their other tours!

We really enjoyed this tour, it gave us an opportunity to walk around through the neighborhoods and also to sample some really great foods at different local restaurants. It helped us to get out and explore more than we would have on our own. It was really informative, and most of all, tasty! Overall, a very fun day!

Our guide Carrie was absolutley great. The tempature was extremely hot that day and she did a wonderful job taking care of the group of 13. She was very knowledgable and very in touch with the group. I would suggest this tour to others as a fantastic way to see Bucktown and Wicker Park area. The variety of restaurants toured are a fine choice, with thier own unique touches, from classic to exquisite. An interesting way to spend a few hours and learn about the area as well as get a taste for the foods of the neighborhood.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

Despite the extreme heat (record temperatures on July 5), our guide was still able to make this an excellent food tour experience. The stops were each incredible on their own, and it was an opportunity to eat through 6 incredible eateries within a span of only a few hours - how else better to cover that much ground?! It was a foodie's DREAM. And the wonderful guide was a great bonus - so knowledgeable and really "knew her audience" so to speak. After completing both the Near North AND Bucktown/Wicker Park tours, I will definitely be back to complete the Chicago Food Planet trilogy with the China Town tour!

Our group ranged from 16 years old to 54 and we all had a great time. Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the area's history and architecture. The food was delicious! It was 103 degrees outside but every time I thought it was getting too hot to stand we'd be at our next stop to eat and rest. A very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. We were stuffed by the end of the tour!

I did a tour in Greenwhich, NY a few yrs ago using Zerve and was just as satisfied with this one in Chicago! It's a great way to spend a day getting to know the history of the area and having enough great food for the whole day! Our tour guide was terrific and we had our first delicious Chicago Hot Dog, along with many other local food treasures and learned so much about Chicago culture! I was concerned that my husband and 21 yr old daughter might not enjoy the tour as much...They LOVED it! Don't miss out!

This was a very informative and fun tour. We went over July 4th holiday so it was record breaking temps (102) but our guide still made sure we had a great time.
