My friends and I enjoyed the tour. We got to see many local establishments and tour the neighborhoods that we wouldn't have ever heard about. These were all new places for us to visit, and we're from Chicago.

We enjoyed our lovely guide; could easily eliminate the catering restaurant with the cheese and cracker tasting and we were surprised that a Chicago dog was not part of this experience! It was a beautiful day and lots of walking was fun!

I'd recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago or even living in Chicago! While on this walking tour you get exposed to various foods and interesting shops all while getting historical background on the city and buildings. The tour guide, food, information, architecture, and walk were all great!

I was a little worried when I saw 3 chocolate destinations (I am one of the few non-chocolate lovers around) but was surprised by the variety of food offered at each of the 3 places. This tour was recommended by a co-worker and I will definitely spread the word. It was nice to see something other than Michigan Avenue, a play, or museum. Don't change a thing! Worth the walk and Money!

At the time of booking I was a little hesitant of the trip not being much of a culinary genius. Surprisingly I had a great time and learned alot from each stop. Not only did i sneak in a few minutes for a purchase or two but also learned quite a bit. Bacinos pizza was my favorite stop with Tea Ger... being my second. The free and very large to-go sample at Tea Ger... was an excellent item to have at the start of the trip especially for a warm day. Have recommended this to my friends in and out of chicago.

Great tour guide! We got to enjoy parts of the city we probably wouldn't have made it to. I highly recommend it, especially at the beginning of your trip just in case you want to go back to some of the places.

We really enjoyed learning about the different types of architecture in the city. Different tour themes would be a good idea to get repeat customers.

Chicago Food Tour

This was an interesting and fun tour through some famous Chicago neighborhoods that I was not familiar with. There was a good variety in the types of stores visited and the pacing and opportunities to sit down were well timed. Information about the buildings that were pointed out was fairly general but this tour was really about food. There was time to chat and visit with your companions along the way. The guides were friendly, energetic and very enthusiastic about sharing their love of Chicago. All in all, it was an enjoyable way to spend time off the beaten path in Chicago.

Our guide was wonderful. My least favorite place was the first stop ~ Ashkenaz. The time and walking distance were perfect.

It was wonderful to get to taste food and see the historical homes in the Old Town/Lincoln Park area. I highly recommend this tour and it's plenty of food to go away satisfied!

Great way to spend time with family

In every city we go to I look for activities we can do that are fun, informative, active, and a good way to hang with family. This fit it perfectly. 3 hours of walking, talking, learning about the area, snacking and some culinary 101 basics. The weather was perfect. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it so much if it were rainy. Nicky, our tour guide, was the consummate guide--fun, knowledgeable, comfortable and patient. At first I was disappointed we couldn't shop along the tour, then perfectly understood it would have been a nightmare to keep corralling in everyone to keep going. I was staying in the area so I had the opportunity to go back and shop. From a marketing view, the coupons definitely brought me back and the merchants benefitted. I wouldn't recommend it for young kids and then only older kids if they are inquisitive and most of all like hanging out with you for 3 hours. My 16 y.o. liked it but more for the fact that we were visiting family and we were together. He did enjoy learning about the various aspects we were exposed to but I'm not sure all teens would be. It is hard to describe, as it is not a Taste of Chicago or an eating tour. Your advice was very good about eating first. My favorite was the oil and vinegar, as the quality was truly amazing. My least favorite was Ashkenaz (and I'm Jewish). The latke was oily, heavy, and non-descriptive. Perhaps a Vienna Beef hot dog place would be a great start or if Ashkenaz could offer something else it would have been a more interesting start. I was so glad it got better after the latke. The Catering/Chocolate was also a tad disppointing. It needs a little more punch to it--perhaps one more tasting of a salad or fruit. I loved all the others. Bathroom breaks came at a perfect time and it ended at a perfect time. I was staying in the area so I didn't mind the different start and stop. The store merchants and employees were very warm and friendly. We really enjoyed going back and learning more and buying! It was a pleasant and informative walk that showed you Chicago is made up of friendly diverse neighborhoods that feel very small town. I also loved the quality of the places you took us--no dumps! With the current focus on buying local and conserving it was an absolute pleasure to visit a neighborhood where you could walk anywhere and buy everything you need. It was a wonderful representation of what makes Chicago the best "Big" city with a "small" town flavor.

A great time and fun for a foodie

My tour guide, Nicole, was very warm and inviting. She really liked living in Chicago and provided a view as a resident. I went back to purchase items in a few of the stores later. I found the map that was provided to be a very smart move since some of us did not know where we were and how to get back to the stores efficiently. Thanks for a great time!

A Must Do Activity for Locals and Visitors
Mon, Jun 16  11:30 AM eschrank Female 50-59 Local Other
We loved this tour! As a Chicagoan, now suburbanite, it was great to see the local businesses and their history. The shop owners and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. We learned so much on the tour and in a very fun way. Thank you for the great day and to Nicki, our tour guide, you are the best. I have already told my son, who lives a block from Ashkenaz, about his neighborhood businesses. A suggestion, when we were in Lincoln Park, on Clark Street, we were steps from the scene of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, 2122 N. Clark Street. Since not only was that a defining moment in Chicago history, but since it is known by most visitors, it should be a stop along the way. Also, noting Ashkenaz's history as the most popular restaurant on the North Side long before it moved to it's present location. Also a mention of the beginning of Crate and Barrel on Wells Street to what it has become. Thank you again for a great tour, guide, and perfect weather! We are eagerly looking for the next Food Tour.

When we found this tour on the internet we did not know exactly what we were getting into but WE LOVED IT!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant and kept things moving. The different locations visited were outstanding and the food was marvelous. Getting to go into the different neighborhoods and hearing the stories about events that happened in them was very interesting. I would highly recommend this great tour to anyone who wants to get a real view of Chicago city life.
