A must do in Chicago!!!
Sun, Nov 2  11:30 AM kimberlyanns Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our tour guide Jennifer dazzeled us with her food/city knowledge. The tour included perfect boutique like shops that only an insider would know of. And between each food tasting we saw neighborhoods in Chacago that we would have never ventured into. Overall experience, a must-do for foodies, and anybody interested in seeing the hippie-chic neighborhoods of Chicago!

Suggestions to Improve Tour
Sat, Nov 1  12:00 PM mbrensi Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Would like 5-10 minutes for shopping at each stop, because we didn't have time to go back after the tour. And, this would give business to the shop owners. Time for shopping could be made by eliminating two stops: #6 Catering for cheese tasting (since we ate cheese pizza at the next stop); #8 Chocolate Lounge (since we had chocolate at a previous stop). Also, would like to have sausage instead of vegetarian pizza, since Chicago is know for its' sausage!

Best part of our visit!

I'm a foodie, so I was looking forward to this tour from the start of our trip. But it far exceeded my expectations! The tasting stops were all either family-owned gourmet shops, or unique specialty chains. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable -- not only of the tasting stops, but of the history of Chicago and neighborhoods we visited. There wasn't a minute of boredom. After three hours of walking, we felt like we walked off all of the decadent tastes -- although some "tastes" could count as small meals! I'd recommend this tour to locals or tourists -- foodies, or not. Just be prepared to walk and eat!

This was an excellent tour of one of the coolest neighborhoods in Chicago. I loved the variety of establishments we visited and the quality of the food. It was a very enjoyable tour.

Spices, oil, and tea--the highlights of the tour. We could have done without chocolate repetitions (even though we did not have chocolate in each place). Emily was charming, positive, and socially skilled. She presented interesting tidbits.

A definite "must do" in Chicago

What a great tour! It was informative, fun and quite tastey! Our guide, Emily, was articulate, made the walk interesting, and was very organized. When I saw the shops we would visit I was on the fence about a tea shop, oil shop and spice shop and they turned out to be my favorites. At first I was a little unhappy about the announcement that we would not have time to shop but I totally understand why. But if you are quick and dont hold up the group you can manage to get in a few purchases! I have since ordered from the oil shop online which was just as well as we were from out of town and it would have been a hassle to try and get the oil and vinegar home on the plane. I have always been a tea drinker but drank "tea dust"! No more! We returned to the tea shop where I purchased several varieties and will be a repeat customer online. Same for the spices. The Saigon cinnamon is unbelievable and I will be ordering from them as well. I am considering ordering all of my christmas gifts from these vendors.

The Bucktown/Wicker Park food tour left something to be desired. The food aspect was okay but the cultural information provided was superficial and lacking detail. We were hoping to find out more Chicago history and perhaps some unusual stories that a tour guide's more personal perspective might provide. Another gentleman in our group had been on the original tour and said it was preferable to this one.

The most fun day in Chicago!
Fri, Oct 31  11:30 AM MarkFarrer Unspecified 50-59 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I booked this tour on-line for a group of four friends prior to visiting Chicago for the first time. We had an fun and knowledge guide, a good mix of people in our particular group, and it was a fabulously sunny day. The tour excided our expectations. In addition to the food tasting, the tour takes you through several great neighbourhoods that you may not get to. All four of us who where travelling would highly recommend this tour. We all agreed our favorites where the tea, spice and oil/vinegar shops. We went back later to do some shopping.

We had a fun and informative tour which was a good introduction to some great neighborhoods. The specialty shops and restaurants were ones I'd not have discovered on my own. The group was friendly and the leader was interesting and knew a lot about food and also the points of interest as we walked along. I enjoyed the samples of foods, spices, tea, and other gourmet items.

This was an excellent tour of Chicago neighborhoods. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and provided excellent tips and information. The food samples were delicious and plentiful. Our entire group seemed to enjoy the tour very much. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to see several different neighboorhoods and that likes a variety of different foods.
