Fun experience, well worth the time and money.

I wanted a walking tour with a different experience and I received much more than I expected. The various tour stops were fun. It was a wonderful variation of businesses. Those shops that took time to speak to us were very informative and I learned something in each one. What really made the experience compete was the history that our tour guide shared as we walked along the route. He pointed out many Chicago landmarks that I would mave missed because I was not familiar with the area. The guide should be commended for his knowledge of not only the tour stops and area history, but for his friendliness and ability to relate to every one in the group.

Great Tour!

We had an absolute blast and learned quite a bit more about the city than we thought we would. It was all very interesting, and the food was very good, with one exception. None of us (six) enjoyed the potato pancakes. They were very greasy and heavy, and not a good way to start the tour at 11am. It didn't detract from the tour; we just ate a few bites to be polite and pitched them.

The tour gave us the opportunity to do and see things we would never have done on our own. I can't believe we drank vinegar and oil and it was delicious.

Great info about the city, skinny on the food
Fri, Oct 26, 07   11:00 AM btjacoby Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The food tour was very informative. Nikki was a great tour guide. It is a great tour to include early in the visit. We were able to receive a lot of information about the city. In fact, we revisited many of the stops later in our trip. The sights were fantastic. As far as the food, it was a little skinny. If more stops can not be added, I would suggest changing the order of stops. For example, I would start with more substantial foods and finish will the well loved chocolates and desserts. I was almost tired of trying chocolates until we hit the pizza shop. Then, I was able to eat more of the sweets. Overall, a very fun and informative tour. I would suggest taking the tour early in the trip. We made several choices based on Nikki's recommendations.

I found this tour on line and my two girlfriends were just okay with doing the tour. They ended up giving me kudo's all weekend for booking such a great tour. Nikki our tour guide was kind, informative and fun. We loved walking through the neighborhoods and would have never seen those areas had we not gone on the tour. The food sampling was great and we did go back and eat at an Italian restaurant the next day that Nikki recommended to some tourist that day. We also made our way back to Rush St. & Old Town the next day for shopping. We had dinner that same night at Gibson's and then partied at Jilly's (great place). It was a wonderful tour and I would highly recommend taking the time to do this. There are enough stops that you will not be tired by the walking either. Great Job Nikki!

We loved this tour. Our guide was informative and fun, the sites included were all wonderful. (We went back later & spent a small fortune on oils and spices!) It was a great way to see Chicago neighborhoods. We would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in food and Chicago.

A great and tasty tour!

My date and I enjoyed all aspects of the tour - the vivacious and knowledgeable guide, the great foods offered by the vendors (the toffee at the FudgePot and the pizza at Bucani's were the biggest hits!), and the up-close and personal view of Chicago that this tour offered. Even though we're just from Milwaukee - practically locals - we found lots of new things to see and places to go that we will definitely re-visit on our next trip to Chicago.

Nicki was our tour leader and she really made the walk fun and interesting. Even after having lived in Chicago for many years, she shared some great places and fun commentary. I will recommend this tour to all my friends....and that is the real test. Go...you will love it.

Much Knowledge given
Thu, Oct 25, 07   11:00 AM rebeccaknigh Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Our tour guide Nicki had a great deal of knowledge about the city that focused on other areas outside of restaurants, she was an enthusiastic individual who paid a great deal attention to each patron. The variety of the stores and restaurants were fantastic and surprising, the only thing i would warn each of the guests is that the tour does tend to go about 4 hours vs the 3 hours and the tour does not end where you begin and will need to either walk the 24 blocks back or arrange other transportation. The walk was fantastic and educational, I would recommend the tour to anybody who was interested in learning about Chicago, and for the money a great buy. The tour owner Shane followed thru all the way to ensuring every paid guest will be attending the tour.

Great start to a wonderful time in Chicago

I signed up to take the tour on the first full day I was in Chicago. The size of the group was perfect...there were six of us....all women. We walked, talked, laughed and ate our way through our 3 hour tour. Tad, our guide was very good and told us interesting stories and facts about the city as we walked through the various neighborhoods. What was nice about the tour was that I went into shops I might not otherwise have gone. At each stop the shop owner/employee spoke to us about their store and handed out samples. My three favorite stops were: The Fudge Pot; The Spice House; and Old Town Oil.

I really enjoyed my tour and highly recommend it for anyone!! Our guide, Tad, was terrific!! He was very nice and informative. He pointed out so many interesting highlights of the neighborhoods and told us many interesting Chicago stories. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and makes the tour so interesting and enjoyable! He was very accommodating and helpful with anything we asked. Everything was well organized and there were no glitches at all. All-in-all one of my most memorable Chicago experiences!!! Keep up the good work!!! It does require a lot of walking at a fairly brisk pace so be sure you emphasize this to anyone who inquires about the tour. I will take this tour again and the next time bring my camera!! There are a lot of good photo opportunities!!

It was a great way to spend a beautiful fall day in Chicago. The guide was great - personable, knowledgeable, focused on us having a good time. Enjoyed all the stops and the food. Loved walking through such neat areas of the city. My only suggestion would be to have less chocolate related places and substitute with something else. I would definitely take another tour with your company and hope that you will keep me informed of up and coming events.

We had a blast!

This was truly a remarkable experience. We had a great group of about 14 total and a beautiful day to walk the neighborhoods of Chicago. I will keep my list of restaurants handy, many I have already been to but some I have not and I look forward to exploring. I do plan on purchasing some gifts (and some items for myself) from a number of the shops we visited. I particularly liked the 18 year aged vinegar and of course, the chocolate samples. The historical sites and the fun facts regarding real estate and the various changes that these neighborhoods went through were fascinating. I was born in Chicago, grew up in the suburbs and visit the city often, yet I learned a LOT! I would love to explore additional neighborhoods/establishments. Please keep me on your mailing list!
