A fabulous tour!
Sat, May 30  11:00 AM Jodermcnoder Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
We got to visit a lot of 'hidden gems' in neighborhoods that I would have otherwised missed... there is a little bit of everything on the tour - some history, backstory of the neighborhoods / buildings, and of course - learning about / tasting the various foods, oils, spices - everything was so good! It was a really great morning and one of my favorite parts of my trip. As the other reviews said, try to do this tour early on in your trip as there is a good chance, you will want to visit the neighborhoods / restaurants / shops again.... :)

A very unique and different tour

Our guide was Jennifer and she was so well informed providing our group of 15 a lot of good information on architecture as well as food in a variety of neighborhoods. My friends and I were on our annual girl's weekend and Chicago was our destination. We all thoroughly enjoyed our 3 1/2 hour walking tour and were well fed along the way. There really is something for everyone to enjoy and we all highly recommend this tour.

Great Unique Experience

My sister and I have visited Chicago frequently. I always try to find a unique experience each time we visit. This was excellent. Not only did we visit areas of the city we had never been in before, we tasted great food, got some exercise and learned a lot in the process. We will definitey re-visit some of the places we stopped at on the tour and will definitely do another tour next time.

Very fun, informative and yummy tour!

My girlfriend and I are both from the Chicagoland area, but we were unfamiliar with all of the food places on the tour so it was very nice to get out and see what our own town has to offer. Our tour guide, Jen, was very knowledgeable, respectful, and fun to be around; she created a friendly atmosphere that was quickly picked up by the group and everyone got along very well. The stops we made offered us insider information and generous samples. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

Great Tour Just a Little Long
Fri, May 29  12:30 PM Ezizzed Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Tour was great and glad we did it. Carrie was wonderful. Tour would be better if shortened by 30 minutes (attention started to wain toward the end but ice cream stop was a wonderful finish. Would have liked to try some deep dish pizza and the Mediterranean food item could have been substitued with something else but I tried it so I guess that's the point.

Great Fun and Food

I went on the tour with my Mother. We enjoyed the Tea, Spice and Oil, place the most because it seemed the most unusal to us. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the places where we stopped as well as of every thing we walked past. She was very mindful of my mother's recovering broken ankle.

Nikki was an awesome tour guide and made everyone feel welcome and involved during the tour. Barb had to be the best tour member, but everyone was fun leading to a wonderful afternoon of tasting and learning. Loved every minute of it!

Great "couples" afternoon - Highly Recommended!

My husband and I enjoyed this tour together. We are from Indianapolis and this was a great way to compliment our Chicago vacation. I was worried that a Guy would not enjoy the tour but he seemed to have a good time (at least he told our friends that he did)! There was a hearty amount of food on the tour - and the hot dogs, beer, and pizza all helped in the guy department. I personally loved the iced chocolate drink and the made-to-order ice cream. Our tour guide also provided a mini architectural tour of the Wicker Park neighborhood which many in our group of 12 enjoyed. Compared to the Near North tour, I would recommend this one for the average food lover. In my opinion, the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour is better for anyone who is a little skeptical about a "food tour." The Near North tour included unique shops that were not necessarily main foods; but rather, ingredients of foods (such as the Spice House, vinegar & oil shop, and tea and chocolate shops). I will say that I went on the Near North tour with a group of girl friends and we all LOVED that one - there was pizza and potato pancake and other foods on that tour, just included the unique shops as well. Our tour guide for Bucktown / Wicker Park, Kent, was terrific. He was a knowledgable local, spoke well, and kept everyone's interest. He was organized and everything went smoothly - our pizza was hot and the beer cold. We never had to wait for food. From what I could tell, everyone left in good spirits and excited to revisit many of the shops to use our discount coupons and try more items from the menus. The Chicago Food Planet is a respectable enterprise. This was my second tour with them and I highly recommend them as a safe tour operator. Shane was prompt to respond to my email inquiries and help with fixing an ordering error that I made. I was so thankful for their humanity and understanding of my mistake. THANK YOU CHICAGO FOOD PLANET - keep me informed of any new tours!

Great view into a Chicago neighborhood
Fri, May 29  11:30 AM naomi1951 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
My daughter(26) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The only regret I have is eating breakfast. We couldn't finish all the great food at each stop. If we were in Chicago longer we would come back with our coupons and revisit many of the shops we saw. The architectural tour was also a highlight. What great old buildings! I wish that we could have gone inside some of them. We also took the train to our meeting place on Damen Ave. Fortunately, my daughter understood subways. I would recommend sending directions by train for those who need it. It's a much cheaper way to get there.
