My wife and I enjoyed this tour a lot. From the history of the city to the tour of some off the beaten path of some places, it was great. Our guide Jennifer was helpful, happy, and very patient with our group. I have already recommended it to friends and will continue to do so. Eric

The tour was engaging, tasteful and lots of fun. Our guide was entertaining and used lots of humor. I learned a lot about the neighborhoods that we walked through and got some exercise too. I look forward to "tasting" other neighborhoods in the future.

Tour & leader - great, food just so-so

I enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods & the leaders comments on same. I was disappointed with the food tasting. The ad leads you to believe you will get ample tastings & therefore not need lunch. I went on the 1:30 tour, maybe that is different. I thought we would taste more food from the area, but we actually had only half a potato cake & pizza unless you count 2 different chocolate shops. The other stops included a tea shop, olive oil & balsamic vinegar with nothing for dipping & a spice store where you sprinkled the spices in you hand to taste. Chicago pizza is supposed to be wonderful, but the chef decided to make it heathy & believe me I am very health conscience & love spinach, but the pizza did nothing for me. I would also reccomend leaving time for purchases.

Just got back from the Chicago Food Tasting & Walking Tour and had a fabulous time! Being from Chicago, but not from the toured area, I found it wonderful having a highly qualified, knowledgeable, personable guide (aka Nikki!) to lead me through this beautiful area of Chicago (being able to walk through the neighborhoods was definitely a plus for me). Not only did we learn some historical facts surrounding the toured area, but we got to sample some delectable edibles! The information gathered at The Spice Shop, Old World Oil Shop, etc. will certainly be put to good use in my kitchen. I hope they add more neighborhoods in the future; I would definitely sign up!

I went on the tour with my mother - it was her birthday present. I am 35 years old, she is 72. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day! Being lifetime Chicago-area locals, it opened up a new world to us! Discover secret (and not-so-secret) gems of the city! It's an enjoyable outing no matter what your age or origin. Nicky (our guide) was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The tour was well organized. We highly recommend it.

Great tour guide, but tour too long

We had a great tour guide, very informative and friendly. But 3 hours is a little too long. I would recommend shortening it to 2 hours to maintain everyone's interest. The food samples were NOT very good... except for the chocolate samples.

We found some great new shops that we will visit again on our next trip to Chicago. There was a nice mix of history, folklore, and architectural "tastings" along with the yummy food tastings. There was enough food for the ladies to call it lunch but definitely not enough for the guys or kids.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Chicago area as well as for those living there. We returned to three of the 8 places to purchase items the next day. Our tour guide was very friendly and upbeat and very informed. I have already told several friends/relatives that the Food Tour is a must on their next visit to Chicago.

Our tour with Shane (tour guide) was wonderful! He was very insightful and knowledgeable when it came to the neighborhoods and foods on our tour. It was an exceptional value as well. We would definitely take one of your other neighborhood tours the next time we visit Chicago.

A great way to see & taste Chicago for walkers!

After visiting my son in Chicago periodically over the past 7 years, I decided it was time to play tourist. I love food and wanted to see some of the neighborhoods that I normally drive by, so this tour sounded perfect. Nicki, our guide was great - very friendly and lots of fun. We actually walked from the Water Tower to Lincoln Park, so I would say the you need to be able to do a fair amount of walking without tiring to enjoy this tour. The food stops were interesting and tasty! I plan to go back to some of the stores on my next trip up there. I do wish that the website would have stated specifically where the tour ended or that they would have emailed that information to the participants before the day of the tour. I could have walked to where I was staying after the tour was over, but I had to go back downtown on the train to pick up my car to drive back to Lincoln Park. I would have taken the bus into town had I known. and left my car where I was staying. I am looking forward to the company expanding and offering tours though some other great Chicago neighborhoods with amazing history and food! Yum!

We had a great time on the tour. Walked all the calories off! Would have enjoyed the foods in more of an order like appetizers first, then pizza, then sweets.. Tad was a wonderful guide and knew so much about the city. He was concerned with our safety, and comfort. I wish we could have had a few more in between stops to sample. Even one bite here and there along the way or a typed sheet from each of the stops would have been informative, even if they don't offer a sample. I was more concerned with the kinds of food and the heritage. We enjoyed our small group of 6 and visiting with them along the way. I wondered how far we walked that day...we went everywhere and we really enjoyed the quaint neighborhoods. I suggest for Ghirardella chocolate shop not to open the sample package of their chocolates...so on a hot day they won't leak out into you purse if you decide not to eat them at the beginning of the tour! We had attended the National Restaurant Show in Chicago and had sampled many various foods previously, so the walking and cultural part was the better part of the tour for us.
