Not usually into tours but this was great

My husband and I went to Chicago for three days. I saw the reviews for the Food Tours on tripadvisor and decided to book one. I thought the Bucktown neighbourhood tour sounded better then the Near North Tour so I was disappointed that the Bucktown one was totally sold out. I decided to purchase tickets for the North tour anyway. I am soooo glad I did. We don't usually do guided tours as we are both well seasoned, independent travellers. However, this tour is so different that I would receommend it to those who usually porefer to see a city on their own, as well as to those who like some local (guided) input. Some reviews said there wasn't enough food on the tour and to eat beforehand.... BIG mistake! They have recently changed the food sampled at some of the places to ensure everyone is completely full! I couldn't finish all my food. Our guide, Arianna was very natural at this- I have seen too many guides tell the same jokes / stories to each group day after day and it always seems so rehearsed. Arianna was just comfortable, knowledgable and pleasant. For those torn between the two different neighbourhoods and can't decide which sounds better- one couple on our tour had done both tours and said they are both just as good as each other. They couldn't decide which was better. I would highly recommend the Near North food tour.

we enjoyed the food walking tour, nice variety of stops and tasty tastes along the way. would still recommend the Near North tour first if you haven't done either.

Have to give a shout out to our great tour guide Ben - he was awesome. He shared so much great information about the neighborhood and also gave us some great pointers about other activities to do in the city! Our only suggestion would be to spread out the tastings a bit - by the time we got to Piece, we were almost too full to eat that fantastic pizza!! I would suggest maybe breaking it up a little bit and walking a little further and then bringing us back to the places so we can enjoy the food a bit more. Otherwise, we loved it, we would definately do this tour (or check out the Near North tour) if we come back to Chicago!

I have lived in Chicago for about a year. Taking the food tour really helped me expand my knowledge of the Bucktown and Wicker Park area and the food was really great. I have also taken the Near North tour and really liked that as well. If I had to choose from both tours the Near North tour would have five stars just because it felt like I saw and ate more and it was a wider variety. I brought my family who are from TX and they really enjoyed themselves. One of my only qualms of the Bucktown and wicker Park tour was the first food stop, which was a hot dog place. I'm a vegetarian and I marked that down on the form you fill out before hand. So they said they were ready for that ,but I just got a bun with lots of lettuce and onions and mustard. Besides that all the other food was well adapted for vegetarians.

My friend, boyfriend, and I took the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour and really enjoyed it!! Our tour guide was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable in a relaxed manner. All the stops along the way were very yummy but I have to say that Hot Chocolate was my favorite. My boyfriend and I are Chicagoans and enjoyed ourselves and learned a few new things. Plus, these are not small tastings in size! We came away quite full and happy.

Having grown up in Chicago, I brought my wife to see the city. This tour was a great time, our guide Kate was terrific, and of course, the food....wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour if you like fun and historic Chicago.

This was an excellent overview of the history and culinary highlights of Bucktown and Wicker Park! Our guide was personable and very knowledgeable and the food portions were certainly healthy! Do NOT think of eating breakfast before this tour...you won't need it! We were so thrilled with the introduction to the area that we ended up spending most of the rest of the weekend in Wicker Park at the places we visited on the tour (and received coupons for...thanks!) or at other restaurants recommended as we walked. I highly recommend this tour and can't wait to come back to Chicago!

I am so glad we decided to go on this food and cultural walking tour. It was the perfect start to our trip to Chicago. All of the restaurants and shops we stopped at were delicious, interesting and full of history. I also enjoyed viewing all of the beautiful neighborhoods, homes, and parks. We actually went back to 3 of the places on the tour the next day to stock up on goodies. We also found a restaurant to dine at the next night in one of the neighborhoods we walked through. It was such a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I would enjoy going on another tour with this company in a different neighborhood area of Chicago!!

Outstanding walk around Chicago neighborhoods.

We were four adults ranging in age from 27 to 60 (3 female, one male) who were 1000 miles from home. This fabulous walking tour of Chicago neighborhoods gave us an overview of unique buildings, city history, and food tasting at local shops. The eclectic mixture of samplings came from shops that included a deli, a tea shop, a chocolate maker, a spice emporium, an oil & vinegar vendor, a pizza restaurant. The walk was casually paced. We stopped to hear the history of buildings and neighborhoods between being treated to demonstrations and food tastings at local shops. This was an innovative way to get to know and appreciate Chicago. I have done this tour twice now in two consecutive years, and each time it was a delight.

What a fun tour! I'd recommend it to anyone, foodie and non-foodie alike. The tour guide (Jen) was super. The hosts at each of the establishments we visited were great, very knowledgeable and personable. Next time I'm in Chicago, I'll probably take the Buck Town/Wicker Park Tour.

A Must Do When Visiting Chicago

This tour was simply fantabulous! A great variety of foods and a good combination of food stops and history about the neighborhood. Kari was a great tour guide and has a very pleasant demeanor. My only suggestion would be to not have 2 chocolate stops on the tour. I would have liked to see another option besides the chocolate stop at the very end since I was already on chocolate overload from the stop at Hot Chocolate. Overall, it was a great time and my tummy was very full at the end of the tour! Love the Chicago Dog!

The food and cultural tour was highly enjoyable. I went to many tours in Chicago, and this was one of the best. The tour was highly informative and the tour guides were very personable and inviting. This tour definitely started off my vacation to Chicago on the right foot!
