Highlight of our Chicago Trip!
Wed, Apr 29  11:00 AM Stefaniep Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I saw the reviews for this tour on Trip Advisor and it was spoken very highly of. As this was our first trip to this city, we thought this would be a great way to see some areas we would most likely not have explored first time around, with the bonus of great food along the way, and we are so glad we did. Kate, our guide was personable, knowledgeable and professional. The stops that were chosen were most enjoyable as well. The tour was truly a highlight of our trip and we would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone. Just wear comfortable shoes!

Fantastic way to get to know the city!

I thought this tour was fantastic and have already highly recommended it to many people since our arrival home to Ireland! The group that we were part of were fantastic and really friendly and our tour guide Jennifer really made the day, she was full of information and really helpful too, she recommended lots of places for us to check out during our stay, places that most people dont get to see as they are off the beaten track! I have to say the highlight of the tour for me was the Spice House and the Old Town Oil, these really are hidden treasures in Chicago and amazing value! My boyfriend reallly enjoyed the stuffed Pizza in Bacinos, we definetely dont have anything like that back home, so tasty and an excellent way to finish the day! Thank you so much for his experience, it was definetely unforgettable and a memory I will treasure from my holiday in Chicago!

This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Chicago. Our tour guide, Jennifer, provided wonderful insights to the culinary scene & neighborhoods of our tour. I would recommend this as a 'must do' for anyone who enjoys eating, cooking, history, architecture & fun!

A lot of fun!

This was a very fun tour with regards to stopping in different places and seeing some cool architecture and landmarks in the Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park areas. The actual food itself was not amazing or very new to us, but it was still enjoyable. We would have loved even more information about specific places and cuisines (deli, pizza) and maybe some more food on the tour. Overall--great. And Jennifer is a fabulous guide.

The guides were great, knowledgeble and entertaining. The tour was full of food info, restaraunt info and local info. For someone from out of state, it was a great way to get a feel for the area to be able to go back and shop. I definitely recommend it to people visiting and locals as well.

Wonderful Experience - A More Personal Tour
Sat, Apr 25  12:00 PM kafoco07 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
I was planning a trip to Chicago for my boyfriend and I for his birthday and was searching for unique activites for us while we were there. Since this was both of our first times in Chicago I thought some sort of tour would be fun. I came across some reviews for the Chicago Food Planet's walking tours and it sounded like it would be a lot of fun. We were definitely not disappointed! What a wonderful experience! It was a great way to have a more intimate and personal tour of some of the neatest neighborhoods in Chicago that you probably wouldnt see on any other tour. Our guide was very friendly and upbeat and had a lot of fun facts and information about the neighborhoods we were walking through and the various foods we were trying. The FOOD! Amazing! Such unique places! I had never been to a specialty olive oil and balsamic vinegar store before. The various samplings and stores gave a wide variety of things to try and I will definitely be ordering from some of the stores online. I would highly recommend this tour! I think next time I am in Chicago I might have to try the tour in the other neighborhood. Thanks for a wonderful time!

A good way to learn about out of the way Chicago dining and drinking establishments. Sample and learn about good food and interesting dining establishments. Learn about the neighborhood and its history. A good time at a casual pace.

I had a great time!

I really enjoyed this tour. I would definitely return and bring other out-of-town guests. I live in Chicago, but don't spend much time in Wicker Park, so almost all of the restaurants were new to me. Our guide, Kent, was informative and entertaining. I enjoyed all of the tastings, although by the end, I was stuffed! I think the cocoa filled me up quite a bit because it was rich and the serving was fairly large. Here are the tastings in my order of preference: Piece Hot Chocolate Coco Rouge George's Hot Dogs iCream Goddess & Grocer Milk & Honey

If you like food and a little history, then definitely do this tour. This tour is great for locals and tourists alike. You get try a buch of different foods from restaurants you may not have normally gone to and you learn a little history of the neighborhood while you're at it. I really hope they expand this to more areas of the City.

Fun tour - even for locals

This tour was comprised of a great combination of stores and restaurants - we learned a little something about different foods, spices and oils and got to sample everything too! Plus, we learned a little history about each of the neighborhoods we visited along the way - Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was very energetic and knowledgable about the food we sampled and the history of the neighborhoods. Well worth it - even for a local like me!!!

Personable group setting and valuable information
Sat, Apr 25  11:00 AM casaredman Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Enjoyed the small group of 17 with our hostess Jenn. Given the small group, it was a refreshing way to tour parts of Chicago (Gold Coast, Old Town and Lincoln Park). The tour was fun, informative, and tasty. Dress appropriately for the variety of weather conditions that can happen all on the same tour: cold, hot, wind and rain (this was the case on our tour). The most valuable thing I learned is the difference between stuffed and deep dish pizza. Stuffed is the way to go....less bread and more toppings! The only downside of the tour was having to navigate our way back to our car - - the tour ends about 2 miles from the place it starts.

The ONLY negative that I can say is that my wife liked the oil & spice shops so much that we went back and spent a bunch of $$.

100% Recommended!

Great, tour that I would highly recommend. Easy to get to from our Gold Coast hotel via the metro, and a great way to taste food from the best places. They were super accomidating even though we were 15 minutes getting there: easily caught up to them and it was no big deal. "Tastings" were full servings for the most part! A whole Chicago dog, whole 12 oz. iced hot chocolate and house made marshmallow, 2 truffles, 1/4 cup of ice cream, 2 oz of granola, 2 oz of roasted beet salad, and a big slice of pizza with 2-3 oz. of beer. A great deal and not too much walking at all!
