Our guide was exceptional. Give him a raise. Learned a lot about the area and had great food. Especially liked the Mediterranean deli.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3+ hours of the tour - - it was informative, interesting, entertaining and a lot of fun. The tour guide, Jen, was delightful, enthusiastic and very well informed.

The food was delicious....and unique to Chicago. But the tour of the neighborhood was also exceptional. Our guide was so informative. Great tour!

A Unique Experience

We particularly enjoyed the walk through the residential neighborhood to learn about it's architecture and history. The food tastings were very nice. The favorites were the Hot Chocolate Restaurant and the Icream Cafe. Hot dogs, pizza and beer and the Middle Eastern Deli were treats and all so very different from one another. I would leave out the Goddess & Grocer. While lots of great deli food there, the 4 pieces of macaroni (mac salad) in a cup were hardly worth listening to the 5 minute commercial on the place. Our guide, Ken, was very good. If you're looking for an activity that is a little different and are curious about history and architecture and food, this is for you.

My husband and I learned about this Chicago Food Planet experience from info about things to do in Chicago. It sounded like "our kind of fun." We chose the Wicker Park walk because the foods to be sampled were more to our liking and it seemed a bit "off the beaten path" as well. We knew when we made our reservations that it was a GO, rain or shine! We planned accordingly when we packed for our trip. Ben was an enthusiastic, well-informed guide, and we learned a lot. The peaceful walk through the Wicker Park neighborhood was relaxing. We loved the charmingly renovated old homes. All along the way, we sampled delicious food while we learned about each place. The love and pride of all the owners was evident. My favorite foodstop was "Piece" where we had a large slice of white pizza and a glass of their site-brewed beer. My husband, of course, loved the "I Cream" shop. There was lots of food (we took leftovers), and a great time was had by all!

Very interesting way to see a Chicago neighborhood. There is enough food for lunch and dinner ( almost everyone took something home). Watch out for the hot pepper on the hot dog. The pizza/brew pub was my favorite, but the unique ice cream was a close second. The homes around Wicker Park are worth the visit even if you don't like to eat.

I live in the suburbs of Chicago and when my brother came to visit from California, I looked for activities that I thought he and I would like. We were extremely pleased with the tour. Our favorite stops were the oil and vinegar shop and the tea shop, mainly because we learned something at both shops. I will revisit these stores. We also enjoyed walking in the three different neighborhoods. But mostly the tour ended up being so enjoyable because of our tour guide. She was very friendly and made everyone feel at ease.

The guide (Nicky) was enthusiastic and very well informed, kept things moving, and introduced us to real gems of shops. The only downside was that there was no time to make purchases at each shop, and the coupons provided did not include online sales. However, if I am in Chicago again with free time available, I would not hesitate to take another tour from Chicago Food Planet.

This was the highlight of a weekend get-a-way for my husband & me. We chose Chicago for the variety of entertainment options and this was, hands down, the most fun. Jessie was our guide and she was very knowledgeable, professional, and enthusiastic. She showcased the cultural aspects of the 3 neighborhoods and did a outstanding job in the 7 food establishments. There was plenty to eat. We didn't even eat dinner before the theater that night. I can't wait to go back to Chicago and take the Bucktown/Wicker Park Tour.

The tour leader for the 11:30am tour was wonderful, happy and informative. Each of the businesses from the Jewish Deli, the Spice shop(with explaination of spices and their useful life), the tea shop was informative, choclate shope was great, and the Pizza was wonderful as a last stop. The explaination of the buildings along the tour was fun and interesting. I highly recomend it.

The Bucktown/Wicker Park walking food tour was great. Lots of food to taste-great variety. Our tour guide was delightful. Walking through the neighborhoods was a treat. Even though the weather was cold and dreary, our tour was fabulous and a great way to spend an afternoon --don't let the weather stop you. Last year we did the north food walking tour and we enjoyed that one so much that we decided to do this one. Well worth it !!!!

nothing like going to food shops that are quaint, quality, and now a discovery to be revisited for that specialty food. the neighborhoods walk with the history and tidbits of the latest were educational and entertaining. I can't wait to do the other tour in Bucktown as I'm done the north one twice now. I bought tickets as birthday gifts to my 2 daughters and brother, what a special out of the ordinary gift and way to enjoy an afternoon with them. Your tours are great and conducted by excellent guides.

I took a group of 4 young women from my church group on the Near North Side Walking Tour. Our tour was on Oct. 11, 2009. Although we all live in the South Suburbs of Chicago...none of us have been to these spots. Everyone really enjoyed the tour. There was just enough time between walking and 'seeing'. The places we visited were great. There was only one thing that the ladies wanted, and that was to have time to shop! I'm not sure that this tour would make that possible however, maybe you could have a tour with less places and more shopping. At the Spice Shop they said that they would have rather looked at the spices more and not had the talk about cinnamon. But there were also some that felt that they learned a lot from the talk...so it is a draw. Our tour guide Kent was really good. He was considerate of the entire group, some were older than others! He also had quite a bit of knowledge of the stores and landmarks that we came in contact with. He spoke clearly and loud enough that we could all hear him. I will be taking our group on this tour again in the Spring. I would suggest doing this type of thing in other neighborhoods as well! Great Job. Sandy M
