Chicago Food Planet Food Tours

After taking the Street Food Vendors Tour of Istanbul, I checked the internet for a walking food tour of Chicago. Last Saturday we went on the Near North Tour and it was superb. Great tastes and a very knowledgeable guide with some architectural history added in made for a delightful experience. My friend from Izmir, Turkey, enjoyed the tour very much and wants to have her husband start such a tour in Izmir!

We were part of a group of 16, but we still were able to get in and out of the smaller venues. We sampled a Chicago styple hot dog, velvet hot chocolate that was almost too chocolatey, if that is possible, a deli salad, pizza and icecream. The samples were more than enough to fill you up. Our guide, Gina, was very enthusiastic, maybe too chatty about personal experiences. This was a good tour taking us to an area we have never ventured to. Since I love history, I wish there would have been more historical facts given.

This tour met and exceeded my expectations. My friends and I were delighted at the chance to spend relaxed time together learning about food, history and fun places to visit and shop in the Near North area in the Gold Coast of Chicago. The food was delicious and the portions just enough. Our enthusiastic and knowledgable guide, Jess, made the experience fun for all with her descriptions and backround information. HIghly recommend!

Some girlfriends and I did this tour kind of off-season, on a mid-week October day. Pros - no crowds. Cons - cold and windy day, but that really didn't detract. Kent was a great guide, enthusiastic, informative and engaging. The tour was well-paced, the food was tasty, and the information about the neighborhood and the architecture was interesting. We definitely found places we want to go back to. I would recommend this if you are looking for a fun outing, especially with a group of friends!

A couple girlfriends and I decided to head into Chicago to spend the day and couldn't have chosen a better venue. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the stops we made, including food facts and even the local neighborhood historical facts.I highly recommend for anyone to try one of these tours. We plan on doing the others offered, and will be looking for any new tours that become offered.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking/eating tour of the Gold Coast and Old Town. Our guide, Alliyah, was vivacious and knowledgeable. I strongly recommend this experience. Great food, great smells, great sights.

We did this as a fun weekend activity with 3 couples. Sophie was our tour guide. A week later we are still talking about what a great time we had and trying to figure out when we can schedule another tour of a different area. The food quantities were perfect as was the timing of the walk because we were stuffed at that point. We all really enjoyed the mix of food, history, and neighborhood touring. Being from the suburbs of Chicago I can honestly say none of us would have ventured into the area without a tour. We tend to go into the city for a specific event or destination versus exploration. It was fantastic and I would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking for a fun activity for a group

Great food and walk in a beautiful neighborhood. Will definitely be going back for more samples.

Martha our guide was great! Very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the area and all stops. I really enjoyed the Spice Store and Old Town Oil. The 3 hours went by fast! Next time I'm in town I will try the other tours offered.

Lisa was our guide and did a great job. We had plenty to eat throughout the tour and the variety was great. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon with some friends. Afterwards we went to Old Town to a few places we had been before on the Old Town/Lincoln Park food and cultural tour. There we also went to Killians ice cream shop which would be a great place to add to that tour.

Four of us came from St Charles.Il ..Read an article in local paper..We were in a group of about 10 people.. enjoyed the whole experience, the places we stopped were different from usual fair of when we come in the city..Our guide ,Kent made sure we not only enjoyed the food that we sampled but the history and neighborhood also..Look forward to spring when we can take advantage of the other tours..Thanks for a great three hours and tasty food...Give that man a raise..G.

Had a great time on our tour. Learned a lot of interesting information about the area enjoyed all of the tasting stops as well. The portions were larger than what I was expecting. Colleen was an excellent tour guide and I would definitely consider taking another tour with Chicago Food Planet.

This is a fantastic tour to take with friends or family. Our guide, Alia, was very knowledgeable and the food was terrific. We loved that we got a list of restaurants in the area and a map too. We all will be going back soon. I would suggest this tour for out of town guests as well.

Nice variety of food, fun walk, and a good time to visit with family that met from 3 different states to do something fun together.
