Terrific way to spend an afternoon!

What a great collection of stops to sample some yummy food. Particularly enjoyed the restaurant (and the food tasting) Hot Chocolate ... the best I've ever tasted. Above all, our guide, Ben, was bubbling over with enthusiasm the entire way ... hard not to be enthusiastic with him around! Definitely recommend this tour. TB

Beautiful Autumn Walking Food Tour

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our tour on Sunday September 27th. Our guide Carolyn was cheerful and very knowledgeable of the various sites and buildings. We very much enjoyed the tea shop and Old Town Oil. We went back and purchased some tea to take home with us. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Chicago area. Dan and Sue from Cleveland, Ohio.

Our guide, Jennifer, was great! The diversity of history, culture, and food was balanced, interesting, and entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the company, and the food. I would recommend this to everyone who likes food and would like to learn more about the Chicago neighborhoods. We'll definitely come again.

The walking tour gave us a look at Chicago we would not have seen and a wonderful tour of different and iteresting food cultures. Our guide caroline was a gem with plenty of information and suggestions and truly loved her work.

Great afternoon well spent

My wife and I decided to take on this food adventure after reading all the positive reviews. It seemed like safe bet to spend our first afternoon in Chicago and we were not disappointed. Our guide Ben was very cheerful and knowledgable about the restaurants and history of the city. Our group was a good mix of out-of-town couples looking to sample some area food. The 3 hour tour went by fast and I do not remember wishing it to speed up or slow down it was set at a good pace. The food was great, chicago hotdog, iced coffee with homemade marshmello (favorite), pasta primavira salad, big slice of pizza and local beer sample, (middle eastern pita) falafel and nitro ice cream! so there was plenty to eat. During the tour we walked through around the neighborhoods and were pointed out other good eats and detail on architectural buildings. The food and experience was worth every penny. note: wear good shoes covered about 2 miles.

Our guide Nikki was awesome. She knew everything about everywhere we went. Not as much food on the food tour as you'd think, but well worth it. Our favorite excursion while in Chicago.

Interesting and fun way to see part of Chicago

We enjoyed the tour; however, the architectural aspects were more interesting than the food samplings. We were disappointed in three of the stops two of which aways offer free tasting samples anyways(the oil & vinegar shop, and the tea shop). The 2 small cubes of cheese and cracker with hummus at the Catering Chocolate were not impressive either. Many in our group felt that stop was dull and were expecting an exciting tasting of something more than a sample you could get at your local grocery deli counter. We were most impressed by the Spice House tour and informational talk, but a small complimentary sample of cinnamon, pepper, or some other spice would have been great. I guess I have been on similar " foodie" tours which were much more generous on the tastings and variety. I would not suggest taking any stops off, but possibly add one or two more like the Old Jerusalem restaurant or Sushi cafe which we passed by (several of us were curious about those) which would only add about 10 minutes more, but greatly enhance the perceived value of the tour. Thanks

Directions for arriving at the starting point and leaving from the ending point were helpful and accurate. Pleasing array of food establishments visited and foodstuffs tasted. I enjoyed the Chicago facts & trivia given by the guide as well.

Great way to see out of the way Chicago

This tour is a fascinating way to see a few neighbourhoods that you would not normally get to visit as a tourist. It is a combination of food tasting and guided walking tour in an interesting neibourhood. Our guide was dynamic and knowledgeable, both about the food and the area we visited. The stores we visited were mostly interesting, in particular the tea store and the oil store. There was also an intriguing spice store. We were 10 or 12 which was a good size with a good mix of engaging people. It is a long walk, especially if you walk back to revisit some of the stores to make a few purchases, so you need to be in reasonable shape and wear comfortable shoes.

Our tour with Jessie was great! She was a wealth of loacal knowledge, and spoke clearly, and loud enough for all to hear her. The stops along the way were a complete delight, and were visited by my wife prior to leaving town! We showed the list of your recommended stops, to a Chicago local, and they said you had hit a home run with them. So congrat's on a job well done! We'll be back! Sincerely, Dennis Perkins

We got lost on our way to venue. The CTA was rerouting and we were a mile south in a scary neighborhood! That scared us but when we got to the place, we sure were relieved.. Anyway, the trip was freakin fabulous, delicious, and fun fun fun!! Our tour guide Jess (i think, i kinda forgot her name) was very very very good with everything!!! She is like a walking tripadvisor.com or something. The places we went to was like taking a 5 course meal: appetizer( georges hotdog), drinks(hot chocolate), salad (goddess), main course (filafel), and dessert (iCream). The hotdog was delicious! You have to try a chicago style hotdog sold on the streets before you try georges hotdog in order to appreciate it though so you can taste the difference and the texture. The hot chocolate with home made marshmallow was yum yum yummmm!!! Too bad i wasnt able to go back to get another round. On the Goddess, we sampled a antipasti but it was the chocolate covered bacon that got me interested. The filafel? It sure is in my list of favorite food from now on!! For the finale, iCream certainly was the best. Ice cream theatrics, ice cream made with liquid nitrogen! How cool is that?! Oh yeah, we also had a little architectural/cultural tour around the neighborhood and it was a nice surprise. Very informative and makes you appreciate the home values in the area. I love the whole trip very much!!! I going back someday and perhaps try the other trip, the one in the north side i think.. Thank you for the fabulous trip!!!!

Great tour guide (Nikki) and delightful stops along the tour. The FudgePot was the weak link with no owner interaction (almost felt like we were in the way). We will highly recommend this to any friends that will be visiting the windy city!
