Great pizza from a variety of great Chicago restaurants. I enjoyed getting a chance to make a pizza, also. My Own personal favorite was Gino East, my older brother loved the Polish pizza restaurant and my parents loved Piasano's pizza best. So it was all great and lots of fun.
Thanks!

We are a group of friends from the Chicago suburbs who have lived here all our lives (50+ years) and we thought we knew Chicago Pizza. Boy were we wrong!! From the minute we met John our Pizza King before the tour began we knew we were in good hands and going to have some serious pizza fun! The 4 different pizzerias we visited presented us with 4 totally different pizza experiences. One of the unique aspects of doing the tour was the opportunity to go into the kitchen and watch the creation of some of the best artisian pizzas around! Plus you get to experience about 8 different kinds of pizza during the tour! You don't get that going on your own. During the drive time between pizzerias John "feeds" your mind with pizza facts and trivia plus points out places of interest in the City of Chicago. Our tour went to Pizano's, Cole Fire, Red Flame and Gino's East.
So wether you are new to Chicago, visiting or been a life long resident - if you haven't done the Chicago Pizza Tour you haven't lived the true Chicago pizza experience!
note - dress for the weather, you are riding a bus not a limo. |

The guide was very knowlegdeable about pizza. He toke us to 4 different pizzeria's of different qualities and different kitchen installations.
I never knew that pizza could be this interesting.
The guide was very sociable and kept everybody in the group of 14, interested and involved one way or the other.
This is definitely a tour that I would recommend to anyone that loves pizza, specially in the City of Chicago.
We all enjoyed every minute of it. |

I was excited about doing this tour as soon as I read it and I was not disappointed. John is great and knows his pizza. The route he picked for our group was great. He is full of information not only about pizza but about Chicago. I have recommend this tour to several friends. I would like to do the night tour. |

It's not easy to find an activity that engages both adults & teens equally, but the Chicago Pizza Tour does it! We had a great time having great pizza! |

This was a great tour... Not only were we provided with different styles/types of pizza, but we were also given some history on the owners, recipes and a bit of Chicago history. It was definitely a pizza experience, and a lot of fun! |

My wife and I had some guests in from Iowa and thought this would be a good tour to show them a variety Chicago places. Boy, were we dissappointed. This should have been called the Chicago "Cheese" pizza tour. We had hoped to sample different pizzas and toppings from each location. We started at Pizano's and got a sliver of garlic and one square of thin crust cheese. We then went to Coalfire and had their famous Margherita Pizza, it was good but one slice of paper thin crust wasn't enough. Next we went to redFlame and had the quatro fromaggio. This was my favorite, but one slice of one kind of pizza. We ended the tour at Gino's East, finally we'll get a slice of their famous Sausage Pie. Nope, we got a slice of cheese pizza. No one goes to Gino's for cheese pizza. We had a group of four people and spent a total of $240 for the equivalent of one large pizza between all of us. That is a lot to spend on Cheese pizza. There were some vegetarians in the group, and maybe they catered to them. Or maybe this is the regular pizzas they serve. The tour guide did a good job, that is why I didn't give 1 star. A bit of advice for the future, get a variety of pizzas and give samples of each. As a group we didn't enjoy spending that much money to go somewhere after the tour to get more food because we were all still hungry. |

Chicago-deepdish-that's not all there is to the Chicago Pizza Tour! The three hours flew by on the delightfully narrated trip to four different pizza parlors in four different areas of Chicago. Sheer indulgence for the pizza foodie. John gave a great narration and worked diligently to make the trip enjoyable and heard by everyone. We missed out on the Pizza van as it was a hot holiday weekend and more participants so we were on a trolley which was not as expected-the van looked like more fun and cooler, but the pizza was fantastic. The Malnati's choice of crusts made a world of difference. The coal oven pizza was especially impressive, and the grilled pizza surprisingly tasty. One of our group preferred the deep dish at the East Coast, but the rest of us preferred the more esoteric choices. Just a matter of taste as no one left a morsel anywhere. We would have preferred one place provided a pizza other than plain cheese or marguerita just for the experience, as there were questions about choice of toppings and we only experienced one. We were ,however, edified about the crust by Jhn and that certainly enhanced our appreciation. Over all, a treat! Am recommending the tour to any and all friends traveling to Chicago. Great fun! |
