Must See Tour In Chicago

I highly recommend this tour as a must see whether you're just visiting Chicago, live in Chicago, or live in the Chicago Metro Area. I found a pizzeria that has now become my favorite that I never would've known about had it not been for this tour. I learned a lot about Chicago and the history of the city while traveling to the pizzerias. Our tour guide, Danny, was phenomenal and really knew the city. He even remembered the names of everyone in the group of 20 within 5 minutes. Very impressed and have already recommended the tour to friends, family, and co-workers. I would definitely do it again and can't wait to try this company's Prohibition Tour.

A terrific way to see the sights of Chicago, get some local history and eat the best pizza around. Jonathan was an excellent guide. Highly recommend this tour!

We had a fantastic time on our pizza tour. The pizza was incredible, the company great, and the tour guide VERY knowledgeable about the city. I'd recommend this to everyone!

Can't say enough good things about our tour guide Jonathan, driver Q, and the entire Chicago Pizza Tour organization for putting together an amazing product that is more than worth the money. My wife and I were celebrating our seventh anniversary with a weekend away in Chicago. We live in Cleveland, Ohio and left our kids for some alone time, and the Chicago Pizza Tour was BY FAR the highlight of the weekend. Kudos to CPT for every aspect of this experience: - Jonathan was a great tour guide, and is extremely knowledgeable about Chicago. You can tell he takes pride in what he does, as he is a true expert when it comes to Chicago pizza. We had a few international folks in our group, and Jonathan did a great job appealing to both the domestic and international people on the tour. Overall, he has a great sense of humor and a pleasant demeanor which makes for a top-notch tour guide. - Q drove the tour bus. I'm from Cleveland, and our "traffic" is nothing compared to the craziness that is Chicago traffic. He got us through the entire tour without us feeling unsafe or uncomfortable. He did a great job and was very nice every time we got on and off the bus. - CPT has put together quite a menu of diverse pizza options to give the full experience to anyone who wants to try out the different styles of pizza that Chicago has to offer but only a limited amount of time to experience them. I know that they don't always go to the same four places, but I can say for certain that you won't be disappointed regardless of which four they choose. Because we spent a good deal of time reading reviews before booking, some things I wanted to clarify for future patrons: - THERE IS A LOT OF FOOD ON THIS TOUR. My number one favorite food is pizza, and my frame suggests that I put away more than my fair share of it. For those who wanted it, there was seconds available at each stop (this would depend on the others in your group, of course, but we didn't have any monster eaters in our group so there was always leftovers). 3 to 5 pounds of pizza over the course of 3 hours is a big undertaking for even the hungriest of pizza lovers, but I ate every last delicious bite to make the most of it. - I read some stuff about the tour guides being inappropriate or not-family-friendly. I was in a group of only adults, and so a few vulgarities here and there weren't a big deal...although I would imagine that Jonathan would have been more cautious if there were young ears around. He was well aware of his audience, and I have no reason to believe that wouldn't have remained true if children were on the tour. You can't go wrong here...spend the money, it is an unforgettable experience that I WILL do again if I'm ever back in Chicago. I've already told friends and family about this awesome tour and will continue to spread the word.

Good Food, Good Stories

You don't even have to be a huge pizza fan to really enjoy this tour. A lot of fun facts and interesting stories set the stage for four huge platefuls of deep dish and thin crust from local favorites and lesser-known pizza joints. Planning to go again when family comes to town.

We were on a day bus trip from Milwaukee area and this definitely was a great trip to fill a few hours. Our trip director was very knowledgable of the city and made our tour very interesting. We found that starting to eat pizza though at 11am was a bit early especially with the amount of pizza we were given. Maybe smaller pieces of pizza could be given and more types. Otherwise we woud definitely try another tour type next time.

Decided to have a surprise birthday pizza tour for a co-worker and invited 8 other co-workers. She was very surprise and the other people on the tour helped us sing happy birthday at every restaurant. Our tour guide Nate was very knowledgeable about Chicago with a little humor. It was an awesome time! Yes, yes would do it again! The pizzas were good and tasty, some were different and all had a great story behind them.

Overall it was a very entertaining and informative experience. The tour provided a nice slice of the authentic Chicago pizza scene. Thin versus thick, traditional versus unusual, squares versus triangles ... it was all very delicious. An excellent taste of history and pizza!

Danny makes a great tour just plain awesome

It was a small group, just 2 couple, but it was a blast. We hit 4 local pizza places each unique for it's style, each in a different part of the city. We had two deep dish pizzas, but one with a thinner crust than you'd imagine, and one that was what you think of when you think chicago. A tavern style thin crust, and finally the only coal over pizzeria. The obvious is that the food was fantastic, but our tour guide, Danny, was even better. He knows the history of the city, or the pizza, and is engaging as the day is long. Everything we want to know he knew, he got everyone excited (not that one needs *that* much motivation for pizza, but still 4 people getting as excited as a group of 20 is no easy task). He made sure we were taken care of at every stop. Even when we hit a snag (a waitress accidentally gave our pizza to the table next to us and the greedy college students didn't say a word), he took care of it and a new one was rushed out. Honestly no one in our party minded because at that point were were still recovering from the first two places we went. Danny gives you a real flavor for the city, takes care of your group, and really is a fantastic tour guide. Oh yeah and if I didn't mention this before, the food is fantastic.

Great Tour

I loved the tour. The host was funny and knowledgeable and always had a funny fact or statistic about pizza to share. We hit some nice places and could try a variety of nice pizzas (tavern style thin crust, deep-dish, neapolitan thin crust) with different topics (sauerkraut, sausage, giardiniera). I think it is a great way to explore the city and to try more than one pizza. Since Chicago is not only famous for its deep-dish it is nice to have the possibility to try it all without having to buy a whole pizza every time. Also, I enjoyed the company of all the nice people in the group. I was the only one that came alone on the tour, plus the only foreign person, everyone else was from the Chicago area (more or less). So this was even more interesting and I really liked socializing with the people in the group. They made me feel at ease even though I was the only lonely traveller! Well, to finish off. I simply loved the tour and do think it is worth the money. Got to go to some places I would probably not have tested if I were to decide alone where to eat my Chicago pizza (because the places we went to are not the most marketed ones but still have good ratings on yelp)

Visiting daughter at Northwestern and thought this would be a fun thing to do. Our guide was very personable and gave a great history of pizza in the area as well as some fun facts about Chicago. Now for the pizza: OMG - talk about a food coma! We ate at 4 very different places and our group of 11 could not finish all the pizza ordered at each stop, that's how much there was. Granted there were only 2 men in the group but even my husband who can wolf down his share of slices passed on seconds at the last stop. Each place/pizza was unique and we enjoyed every one of them. The bus was comfortable and covered a lot of neighborhoods in a short time. Our entire family loved the tour and can't wait to do it again when we return in the spring with our teenage son.

Fantastic! Highly Recommend!

The tour was phenomenal. We had a little hiccup in the beginning since there was a Rugby match at a nearby sporting arena, which made the first restaurant become extremely crowded. We had to make our 2nd stop our 1st stop, and our 1st stop our last stop, but once we got underway, everything was fine. The tour guide, Kevin was amazing and very knowledgeable. I thought that the tour was just going to be about the food, but it was actually a tour of Chicago as well. Driving along the city at night was mesmerizing. Also, our tour had about 20 people on it, and at first it's a little intimidating, but after a couple of cocktails, everyone becomes your friend! You get plenty of food and drink. By the last stop, I was maxed out! Great food, great drinks, great city, great atmosphere, great people! What more can you ask for?

One of the best tours I've been on
Sat, Nov 1  11:00 AM Trantastic Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
So, Jonathan is what made the trip - he's down to earth, friendly, and cares if you're having fun. He's not one of those OVERLY enthusiastic guides that exhaust you just listening to them. There was a snag along the trip (no fault of his but of the venue) and he made up for it with a detour and showing us more of Chicago. His knowledge of the city was not only impressive, but reflective of his passion for what he does. As a New Yorker, we can be picky about our pizza, but we can also appreciate good pizza. This particular tour we visited 4 places. Pizano's, Pequod's, and Pizzeria Serio were spacious, friendly, and accommodating. Would I recommend more pizza for those taking the tour? No. Eat a slice, take some time to digest while you drive to the next location, eat some more. It's perfectly balanced and timed. I would only recommend this to those who meet the following criteria: - likes pizza - is in Chicago
