We just had a great time on this tour. The guide and driver had the right Chicago attitude and it was just fun. The food was great. The chance to make a pizza at Apart Pizza was good. We had 14 people on the tour and everyone got more Pizza than they could eat.
Just would highly reccommend this tour. After going to four places Pizanos, Apart, Coalfire, and Gino's East we thought both the thick and thin at Pizanos was the best. You will really enjoy this. |

Lots of good insight on the pizza biz and its history in Chicago. Plus plenty of good pizza to sample. And throw in a mini-tour of Chicago by bus just for good measure. Chicago Pizza Tours did a nice job of presenting various types of pizza in Chicago, including one pizzeria that serves a crust that was so thin ... well, if it were any thinner, there wouldn't be a crust. (That was an amazing pizza.)
On our tour, we started at Pizano's on Madison, where we tried out both thin crust and deep dish varieties. Then we ventured down to Italian Fiesta Pizzeria on 47th for some thin crust pizza with interesting spices. Next we scurried up to Apart Pizza Company on Broadway for that thinnest of all thin crust pizzas, then finished up with some traditional deep-dish at Gino's East.
Your tour will probably hit some different spots -- I was hoping we would go to Coalfire, but it wasn't on the route that day. You'll almost certainly get to experience different crust types -- it's not going to be just four stops for deep dish pizza.
You might want to allow more than 3 hours for the tour. Ours ran a little long, but that's mainly because everybody in the group was so interested in the operations at one of the stops. We had some picky eaters on our tour, too, and they were accommodated.
If you like pizza, you shouldn't miss this. |

we thought that the tour was great: we really liked where we started because we had the chance to meet the leader, john, and talk to a few of the other people on the tour. john was friendly, laid back, and had great information about the city and other famous people in chicago. what we would suggest is that he put together a pizza package for all and because his father is involved in an advertising company, he could easily supplied us with tshirts and hats to wear . his article badly photocopied with a lonely pen just did not do what it needed to. he needed to include a map of the city and where we would be going on the bus making it an all day tour would've been better because he has much knowledge of the city. this way, it would be 2 tours in one: a city and a pizza tour. eating that much pizza in the short length of time was a bit much.
Gino's east staff was very unfriendly and we felt that we were imposing on them by being there. john needs to get the pizza places all on board so that they are friendlier and more interested in the visitors. not sure that i liked going to the place where we stood around in the lobby and ate. i did like the fact that it was president obama's favorite place tho.
more advertitisng, promotion, and tourist takeaways are needed: even if he charges more for the tour, that is okay b/c it was and is a really really neat thing to do in a big city. |

Everyone told me that I didn't like pizza because I'd never eaten a Chicago pizza. What better way to learn to enjoy pizza than through Chicago Pizza Tours. John is wonderfully engaging, and spices up the tour with fun accounts of Chicago celebrities, tidbits of Chicago folklore, and, of course, the history of local pizzerias. My favorite spot was Apart, where I got a lesson in how to toss pizza dough. It was a total kick.
I highly recommend Chicago Pizza Tours. You'll be hooked from the first bite. |

We had a great time and Jon did a great job. We were actually scheduled to take the tour on a Sunday and Jon contacted us to let us know that nobody else booked for that day. He advised that the he would still do the tour but that we would have more fun with others on the Saterday tour, and we did. We found another couple from California that we had a great time with. I have to say that my wife and I look at pizza different these days and look forward to trying pizza from different places. Thanks Jon
Someone on a previous review mentioned that they were unhappy because someone in their party got a small piece of pizza at the last stop, WOW. I'm telling you right now that during this tour and even the last stop, there is enough pizza to go around and if you don't get a big enough piece just ask Jon, he'll take care of you. |

The tour guide was highly knowledgable and entertaining and we were introduced to several different varieties of pizza in addition to the traditional Chicago deep dish pizza. The only thing I would like to see done differently is to see Gino's replaced with a better example of deep dish pizza, possibly Giordano's. We found Gino's pizza to be very bland and the crust did not seem that well suited for pizza. |

We booked the tour for our first day in Chicago and it was a great way to start our visit. Well worth the money. Sample great pizza and learn some fun facts about Chicago, all from the comfort of the pizza bus. |

Out of town guests quickly learn what makes Chicago the favorite city of their home town hosts.
What better way to learn about the city than eat your way through it?
After your early pizza tour hosts and guests can walk off their pizza touring Chicago. Before you all know it you are stoping at a local watering hole to discuss which pizza was your favorite and why.
John is good at giving the history of the city and flexible enough to meet the wants of his customers.
It was a really fun way to spend a Saturday morning. |

John was great. The variety of pizza stops made for a wonderful day. My husband and I are now "hooked" on one the places and can't wait to come back!
We would actually take the tour again with our children.
Thanks for the tour. |

The Chicago Pizza Tour provides an insider view of Chicagoland pizza. Each stop features a different type of pizza which is very unique. Our host Jon provided a good commentary that was full of Chicago pizza and local history. We had plenty of pizza and lots of fun. |

We enjoyed the Pizza Tour very much. And certainly, we were not hungry when we finished the tour. The length of time was just right. It was great to have a hot pizza ready when we arrived at each spot and we did not have to wait in line. Our guide was great too. Thanks so much for making the whole event memorable. John, you do a great job! |
