Well worth it!

My sister, daughter (8 yrs) and I are from Australia and we had a ball! We met Jon and our fellow tour goers at our first stop Pizano's Pizza & Pasta and yes we went back for the cookie sundae pizza. Jon was extremely nice and very knowledgeable. My daughter and i enjoyed making our own pizza although we did have a little help with the base. Yes it is worth the money and no you definitely do not go home hungry!

Awesome tour guide! Knows his stuff!

The tour guide was awesome! He knew his stuff and was funny! Everything was professional, and everywhere we went on the tour was prepared for us. He even let us see the kitchens behind-the-scenes at some of the places. The bus driver was funny too! Everyone enjoyed themselves. The one thing that surprised me though, was that I actually didn't like the pizza very much. Even though the places he took us were legit good places (named top by foodie magazines), I just didn't care for them much, which surprised me as this was my first time trying Chicago pizza and I had heard such great things. I can't fault Chicago Pizza Tours for my personal taste though. In spite of that, I had an excellent time. The people were friendly, and everything was professional! I would recommend it as a good way to experience what Chicago pizza is, with some history thrown in, and not have to wait in lines or drive around with Chicago's crazy drivers :-)

A FANTASTIC Day!!!!

We (6 adults) fully enjoyed ourselves. We were entertained, educated and well fed. I have already spread the word to many family members and friends recommending they book a tour. Although we are all locals, there was so much we did not know and places we would not have visited if not for the tour.

Great way to try lots of different pizza

This tour was so easy! They take you everywhere, order everything and it's ready when you get there. There is a lot of Chicago information to learn, as well as the history of different types of pizzerias and how they came to be in Chicago. John, our guide, was very knowledgeable and very fun! If you've always wanted a variety of pizza and didn't know where to go, this tour is a must. Very worth the money. You WILL be stuffed!

Started great but then...

Jon is a fantastic host. I loved starting at Pizano's. Coalfire was also cool. The Red Flame and Gino's East were so-so.

I have shared the info about the day with many people. I shared only great comments. I have recommended that everyone gives it a try even though we live here in the city.

Our tour guide was very knowledgable of Chicago history and culture, pointing out numerous sites during our travels to four pizzerias and telling the background of each place visted. There was plenty of delicious pizza, and the restaurant hosts were terrific.

Pleased but a little disappointed
Sat, Aug 20, 11   11:00 AM shortcaketw Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Our tour guide, John, was very nice and knowledgeable. I liked the different varieties of pizza restaurants we went to even though I really only liked one place and that was Pizano's, which was awesome. The van's battery went dead on us after our second stop but John did everything he could to get us back on the road ASAP. Good job John. Two things that really disappointed me was: 1) while at Pizano's we were told after all our stops we would come back to Pizano's for either a chocolate chip cookie or peanut butter cookie pizza for dessert. Well that didn't happen and I was really looking forward to that even if I didn't have room for it. 2) John said that Pizano's recently started shipping pizzas. Well when I returned home I called Pizano's and they do not ship pizzas. I was told the owner wants to but doesn't at this time. I sure hope they do because yes it was that good.

Just go with it. You have just found a man as in love with pizza as you think you are. And you are wrong, he loves it more. Get on DoughForceOne and surrender yourself to all the pizza Chicago has to offer. There's sauce, cheese and history. All in a charming and fun package. Oh, and ask to go to Coalfire. If you wind up needing jumper cables, they can jump the bus and feed you well. Thanks for making a rainy day in Chicago fun and full of laughter.

Best 3 Hours of the trip!

What a great way to eat a variety of Chicago style pizza and see parts of the city that one probably would never see on a short trip to Chicago. Jon knows his pizza and the city providing incite and background on the pies and the neighborhoods, he makes it fun and informative. Our bus driver was the best! Performing daring feats of driving prowess on crowded city streets getting us safely to each destination. Oh and did I mention the pizza? Four completely different styles and all good in their own right. My friend and I were the only ones on the tour not from Chicago, this was a great way to connect with the locals and pick up tips of places to go and things to do. Overall my favorite part of the trip!

Best pizza tour ever!

David and I came to visit Chicago for the first time and since I'm an avid yelper, I found great reviews for this tour and we decided to check it out. I love that the tour was such a small group, made it intimate and fun. We felt extremely comfortable and had so much good food. All the while, Joe gave us fun and interesting facts about the city, and of course, pizza itself. Joe definitely makes an effort to learn everyone's names and makes sure to answer any and all of our questions. He's extremely knowledgeable on the topic of pizza, and I would say, having only been operating for about 14 months, he is doing fantastic! I would totally recommend any one visiting Chicago to check this tour out. My friends will actually be there during Labor Day weekend and will be taking this tour, I'm really excited for them! Oh, and don't worry if you have any dietary restrictions. Joe will make sure you're taken care of. Some facts: We tried 5 different pizzas at 4 locations There were tons of leftovers, my fiance had 7 pieces of pizza total... You can order your own drinks - alcoholic or non. Yes, there is time to "rest" inbetween while the awesome bus driver takes you to the next location If you are a food paparazzi, don't fret. Joe makes sure you get your photos in before everyone digs in. Alright. Go forth and eat!

I went on this tour with a pizza enthusiast and Jon (our guide) transformed me into enthusiast as well. His love of pizza is infectious and had us both enthralled with his knowledge of the city and pizza lore. It was well worth the price of admission.
