This is the first NYC food tour I've gone on and it was fabulous. Jennifer, our tour guide, was extremely enthusiastic & knowledgeable of the area, history, and food; an excellent combination in a guide. I highly recommend this tour.

Do Not Waste Your Money

This tour was horrible. We learned very little about the history of the neighborhood while visiting some of the local shops. Although, some of the shops were interesting , we could not get an idea of the food because our samples were so small. Our tour guide even cut a chocolate bon bon in half. The last stop on the tour was a meat store. We listened to a butcher who liked to drop the "F" word while sweating all over our samples...disgusting!!! I do not recommend this tour.

A wonderful morning spent tasting delicious food and meeting shop owners. The food samples were diverse and quite filling. The tour guide was fantastic! It's like going on a tour of the city with a friend. Don't hesitate... book the tour! You will enjoy it.

Delicious Fun

I brought my parents on this tour,as part of their first visit to NYC - we all enjoyed it immensely. Our guide, Jennifer and assistant Leah were really lovely and fun and took us round and revealed some of the LES's best foodie secrets. Nice and easy pace with a splash of history thrown in brought the area and the tour to life for us. Even if you live in the city, I would recommend taking this tour. We met some great and incredibly friendly vendors / artisans who made some of the best chocolate, gelato, pickles, and of course the square donuts..were out of this world...! Its a great way to spend 2 hours - no matter what age you are, and no matter where you come from. Get to know your city again if you live here.

Nice way to enjoy a different aspect of New York.

I was a tourist on this expedition, however I felt that this tour would be equally if not more appreciated by a local resident of New York. We were exposed to different vendors with wonderful flavors. Even though this is a walking tour, do not hesitate if you feel that your fitness level may not be up to par. The walking is very minimal.

We all had a super time! More fun than we expected. The group we were with was perfect and we really enjoyed meeting the other participants. I liked the fact that the food was stuff that we cannot get at home. The history behind the places we visited was especially enlightening and interesting also. We got to see a side of New Yorker that we wouldn't have been able to experience otherwise. Jennifer, our tour guide, was fabulous! She was so knowledgable and personable. We couldn't have asked for better. She helped to make the tour great fun. We would highly recommend this tour to friends who visit NYC in the future!

Amazing Way to Discover the Lower East Side
Sat, Sep 20  10:00 AM jake3322 Male 30-39 Local Group of Friends
The food tour of the Lower East Side completely exceeded all of my expectations. Not only was the food amazing, but we had such an nice intimate group and a tour guide who was both knowledgeable and personable. If you can, try to get Jennifer Ophir as your guide and you can be guaranteed to have an amazing experience. I hope for your sake, the Doughnut Plant is one of you stops...I can't stop thinking about those doughnuts. As a native New Yorker, I am so happy to have discovered these amazing places in my own city. The only bad thing I can possibly say about the tour was that I discovered all of these new places I wish I could go to every day, but that are too far from my apartment to go to every day. But maybe that is a good thing because if I lived any closer, I might end up weighing a few hundred pounds. Thanks CityFoods and Jen for an amazing day! Will definitely see you again to discover other areas of the city!

We really enjoyed this one.... The food was great, especially Jeffrey's dinner to go! Jeffrey is a little colorful, so if you have small children, keep them out of earshot of the adult language...

Great tour of local spots
Sat, Aug 23  10:00 AM darabu Female Under 20 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Hello. My sister (27), mother, and I have been to Manhattan many, many times. However, we always feel we eat at the same type of spots. This walking tour took us to a new area. WIth the wonderful help our our fabulous tour guide, we learned the history of the area we were in as well as tasting great local spots. The food was delicious, and exactly what we wanted out of a two hour tour. The walk was not strenuous at all, which was great news for our feet. I would completely recommend this tour to any local or tourist who wants to spend a small amount of money for a great two hours of fun and food!

A 5-star experience!

We enjoyed an excellent tour of the changing Lower East Side and the local artisanal food vendors found in this area. Not only did we sample tasty, quality food & drink (the coffee at The Roasting Plant was out of this world for this java-junkie) and chatted with proprietors, but we also learned the history of the LES and how this neighborhood has evolved. It still retains a great local flavor and vibrancy with the mix of artists, the food artisans and the long time residents. This tour was very family friendly (my child loved the hand-made ice cream), not at all strenuous, suitable for both locals and tourists and was a different, enjoyable way to experience NYC - via great food! Nicole gets 5-stars for being enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely patient with the barrage of questions we had. We'd do this tour again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it for everyone.
