GREAT AFTERNOON IN THE EAST VILLAGE!!

| TERRIFIC MUNCHING IN THE EAST VILLAGE! It's so easy to say that you've been to the East Village, but you never get the opportunity to just pop in to some of these places, have a quick bite and split! Thoroughly enjoyed the FLAVORS OF NY TOUR with the beautiful 'Clarisse' .. .. We were even a few minutes late because the 'E' wasn't running and Clarisse tried to get a hold of us just as we met up with the group! We got to meander around the vibrant East Village popping in to try a few deserts, a great slice of NY pizza pie, a cup of cold cucumber soup and even a papaya dog =))) .. .. The weather was perfect as was the tour - Even my 85YO mama loved it and covered just enough ground for all of us .. .. She even wanted to backtrack to the places we visited to eat more and buy more food! THANKS CITY FOOD TOURS!! ps > I loved the food selection of the tour, but I noticed a lot of these tours include an awful lot of deserts - Is it just me? For myself I would have loved more 'food' and just a bit less 'desert' .. .. But that's just me .. .. Thanks Again .. .. | ||||||

| A great tour, our guide was really interesting and set a nice pace. We were only in N.Y for two days so we were uncertainabout what tourist activities to prioritise, but this tour is a must....particularly if you like food like us! We saw areas of the city and food stores that normally we would of walked straight past. Ours was the NOLITA tour and beacuse of this tour, i fell in love with this part of the city!! | ||||||

| First of all, awesome tour guides. Our guide was not only informative, she was very friendly, and not the "I want your money" friendly. She had an understanding of the locales we visited as well as the city in general. The locations visited were fantastic! Going to locations that were featured in the show was really cool, and tasting what the chefs tasted really brought it close. Along the way to "scheduled" stops, there are many detours to take. I suggest to any who do these tours to take some extra cash and to just buy some of the snack you see in other stores. Its a great way to try out NYC. Over all, AWESOME. I am telling all my friends and family about this tour. Great Job guys! Kevin and Stef from Cali. | ||||||

| Klarisa (sp) met us with a very friendly way about her, and her informative, cordial and helpful tone carried through the tour. We enjoyed our little snacks throughout the East Village and would recommend it to friends here in NJ. Thank you! | ||||||

not generous with tastings.

| We've done other tours where the guide/proprietors were much more generous with the tastings. On this tour, each sample was much too small. For instance, when at the chocolate shop, small truffles were cut into 6 pieces. Granted, there were 3 truffles, but hey, how about each person gets his own piece of chocolate? Same with gelato, doughnuts, and pickles. Coffee was one per person. | ||||||

| I had a great time on the tour with Kalisa - she was friendly, informative and it was obvious she was a real foodie! The food was all great and it was really good to get to see a part of the city that felt more like a neighbourhood with real people living there. The next stop on my tour down the the East coast was Philly and I enjoyed this tour so much that I tried to get a food tour there too, but unfortunately it didn't fit with my schedule. I guess it gives me an excuse to come back again and do more of the other tours :-) | ||||||

| Our guide Kalisa, a culinary school graduate, ( a true "foodie") was very knowledgeable of the local fare of NYC. The tour was a epicurean delight spritzed with a NYC ethnic history lesson and a little architecture icing. I highly recommend that you sample the tastes of the east village on this tour. | ||||||

| Had a great time. Our tour guide was very personable and very knowledgeable. Lots of food to try. Thought it was odd getting a NYC bagel at a Ukrainian restaurant. Thought it would have been better to have a pierogie instead. Small suggestion - but would highly recommend this tour. | ||||||

| Our tour guide,Nicole ,was punctual and enthusiastic. Our first stop, the Doughnut Plant was nothing but a whole-in-the-wall -- but, boy oh boy the doughnuts were out of this world delicious. We certainly got the "flavor" of the neighborhood as we tasted bialys, gelato, pickles, cupcakes, and piadas -- take the tour and you'll find out how good they are! We especially enjoyed soaking in a little of the history of the neighborhood. We spent a few minutes in the Tenement Museum gift shop and walked down the narrow streets with the fire escapes hanging onto the sides of old apartment buildings. You could almost feel the hustle and bustle of the immigrants from days gone by. I'd highly recommend the tour to famiies. My daughter, who has learned about the Lower East Side in school, really enjoyed seeing, tasting and feeling a part of the culture. You will leave the tour satisfied! | ||||||

Fun Family Activity in New York City

| The Flavors of New York Food Tour is a great family activity in New York City. My two children, ages 10 and 13, enjoyed sampling famous New York food items such as bagels, pizza and hot dogs. They also discovered egg cream soda and loved visiting a true New York deli. I lived in New York for two years and had never tried some of the foods we encountered on this tour. I also enjoyed exploring the East Village and learning about its ethnic heritage. I highly recommend this tour for visitors and even locals. | ||||||

| I took the Flavor tour this past week, and it exceeded all my expectations. The tour was great, the guide was very knowledgeable, and I discovered some great places. Some of the spots I had walked by but never known much about. It definitely got me excited about my neighborhood again! Not only was the food great, but it was nice to hear for the owners of the shops about the history of the neighborhood shop. The tour was satisfying in every way and was an amazing way to spend an afternoon! | ||||||

Great Eating plus Food-for-Thought

| We very much enjoyed our walking tour of the Lower East Side. Not only did we get clued in on some fabulous food finds (like bialys, gourmet doughnuts and lip-pursing pickles), but we learned a lot about the history of the area and the current tensions between gentrification versus rents that can accommode the latest immigrant wave. This is a much better way of exploring an area than simply wandering up and down the streets, and makes it that much more inviting to return on our own and knowing where to find the best cup of coffee in Manhatten. | ||||||

| My daughter and I were looking for a tour that would give us a taste of the variety of foods that New York has to offer from its huge cultural history. This tour was it!! There was a great balance of types of foods between the stops, and our guide, Kalisa, was GREAT!! She was very knowledgeable about the history of each area and told us all about it at each stop. I would highly recommend it!!! | ||||||
