CityFoods - - Bad policy

We had planned a weekend in New York for 26-28 February 2010. One of our plans was to take the "In the steps of a Top Chef" walking tour on Saturday, 27 February. The Northeast was hit with a large snowstorm that Thursday/Friday. Our flight was cancelled. Every single vendor [airline (who cancelled the flight), hotel, restaurant, theater) returned our money/deposits. They understood that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we were not able to travel to this destination. Correction. Not everyone refunded our money. CityFoods refused to do so, saying we should have driven from Washington, DC to NYC in a snowstorm. They would not even exchange the tickets for a future event. CityFoods is a lousy company.

The Real New York

I have been to NYC many times but nothing compares to walking the streets with someone who knows it. I never watch Top Chef but it did not matter. This is the best trip yet .Foot travel with a local is always fun and we were stuffed by the time we finished. It was great value as well.I have paid a good deal more for tacky tours in buses, trams, and carriages. The guide was smart, fun and a pro in her field . She remembered our names.I cannot remember her name, lovely asian american woman that graduated from the french culinary institute. I will be sure to recommend this to friends and family. Loved it!

A great way to get acquainted with Little Italy, Chinatown & local neighborhoods. The food sampling was delicious and there was just enough walking between stops. Our tour guide was very friendly and enjoyable, very well planned. Highly recommended....

My son is a big Top Chef fan and he had a great time! We actually went back to one of the restaurants we stopped at for dinner that night. It was interesting for me, too, because our guide gave us alot of interesting information regarding the history of the different areas we went to.

Wish we did ALL the Top Chef locations listed

I loved the interesting places we went to but was disappointed that we did not go to all the Top Chef places listed in the description. We did not go to where Carla cooked her peas and wish we went to Niki's restaurant. Since it's advertised as In the Steps of a Top Chef I was disappointed more wasn't done toward the connection of Top Chef. That is one of the reasons we signed up for this specific tour. It was more like a taste of NY or the village.

Interesting, but not enough food

Our tour guide had plenty of information, but this was not at all like our Philadelphia tour which included more than enough food for a lower price. It was definitely overpriced, with very small portions of food that left us so hungry at the end that we immediately went across the street for a slice of pizza. If I knew that this "food" tour was going to be so light on the food, I would have chosen one of the others.

Our guide, Nicole, made the whole experience worth while. The tour in general exceeded our expectations and would be a great time for anyone whether they watch the show or not. Have some great spots I can't wait to return to!

My girlfriend and I loved the tour and thought our tour guide was fantastic. The food we tried and the places we went to were tasty and fun. Our tour guide is what really made it most enjoyable. She was so genuine and enthusiastic, it just added to the experience. If I do another tour in future, I hope she's the one taking us around town!
